Thanks, Yahari! That place is great, how grateful I am for Google translate!

Ah, I see, thanks a bunch for your clarification, vortext! :) I think anyone who strives to make this game better is awesome, no matter what it is they do. In your face SC5 indeed!

This is absolutely great news. The map I downloaded has a few reservoirs above sea level - dry, of course - so this seems to come at just the right time for me. :thumb:

That first image looks like it could be the site of future rice paddies... Giving me some ideas

Great job to Xannepan!

The weather mod looked like it came, in part, from a much older (5+ years ago) source as well and had been reworked into its current form. (I think the old one required plopping each weather effect individually?) SimFox Day n Night mod also had been done before. But that's the dirty little secret of innovation.. innovation is just improving upon things that someone else had already done (and they, too, took their ideas from elsewhere and improved upon them.)

Xannepan is truly revolutionising this game by breaking down the limitations. I dare say Sim City 4 is entering a new era of possibility.

He, that's my pic!

Anyway, ThisIsMyName, I'm familiar with those ploppable water BATs as well. The point, however, is precisly those are BATs while Xannepan has managed to get the actual, ingame water at any desired height. :P

Sorry buddy, but that information is incorrect.!

There is no way to have the water level of the game at various heights, and this in one way or another is water propable. OK!

That's true. Maybe I should've said he somehow managed to get the ingame water texture to be plopped at various heights. The effect behaves differently from BATs though, since it will actually spill over the entire tile if it's not properly resitricted.

Care to reword that? I don't really understand what you are saying.

Now I'm not sure exactly what to think. Is it or is it not a plop like I initially thought? :???: If so isn't it still essentially the same as the Japanese 5-100m water? Or is this incorrect? If you're simply taking what *looks* like in-game water but still plopping it like any other, how does this change the game mechanics of water height? Or am I over-thinking it?

Nonny, I think NCGAIO may be saying to exit without saving or else your city, if flooded, will now be unplayable?

Xannepans mod is attached to a lot. So yes, you still have to plop a small 1x1 lot but what happens next is unlike any other BAT. Maybe a small illustration is in order.

    JENXposeidon2.jpg

The default sealevel is shown at the left, now I'll plop the lot in the bottom of the depression at the right.

    JENXposeidon3.jpg

And there you go; at an instance the depression is filled with water which has the same appereance as the water mod you're using! Unfortuanlty sparkles and waves aren't possible, yet . . Though notice the beach texture actually does appear.

Nonny, I think NCGAIO may be saying to exit without saving or else your city, if flooded, will now be unplayable?

Yes indeed. If there's a leak somewhere the entire citytile will get flooded.

So, how exactly is this different from what I originally thought? Just because it *looks* like the default water (or whatever mod you want, in this case) doesn't in fact mean that using default water above its normal level is now possible as far as the game mechanics goes. It's used exactly the same way as the Japanese water plop, which is a single tile of "lot" with the rest being purely visuals so you can terraform around it....(though the beach texture is a nice touch)

The Japanse water consists of BATted models in various widths and hights. Xannepans water isn't a static model, it fills itself out. Don't ask me how though.

Also, ferry transit is still being worked on I believe. In any case, in the end it gives a similar result indeed.

I see! Ferry use definitely sounds interesting, and could certainly be a possible game-changer if it's able to be done. Regardless, very good on Xannepan, the more things that make this game awesome, the better! :thumb:

Well since this is not a finished mod is expressly recommend reading what says Xanepam in your thread about the placement of the effect.

:read: - Just to Clarify ...

This is not (currently) the same thing that have various levels of water in the game and there is no indications that this is possible.

Attention: not exactly the texture of the water that fills the city as was said, Is the sea level that rises then does not save the city if it happens

It will not be possible (currently) establish any transit by ferry or boats already so they are referenced by the game to the level of the sea.

Also It is not possible (currently) any animation applied about effect as a waves, etc.. .. by the same reasons above.

In fine is to be used exactly as said earlier, a lot propable with caution in placing ...

Well for small lakes, it's not like waves would naturally be too prominent anyways... Sparkles however, a must.

That's great that the city would get flooded, really makes it that much better than the water of RollerCoaster Tycoon for instance.

Great explanation vortex! Thank you for that. In my thread a sc4devotion i have some post with the limitations of this mod (and some warnings) Certainly not all you wishes will be fullfiled, and this will not be favored by feverybody. But I am a person that thinks in possibilties rather thn limitations :) If not I would never have been able to create this ;)

And the great thing that is possible now is that with a single lot you can have an instant lake above sea level. (Plopping the 1x1 lot in a valley/hole will fill up the entire valley/hole with water immediately). The texture will be the exactly the same as the games water texture.

Before I will release this officially I want to try two more thngs:

-Fnd out if there is a solution for bridges to become permanent.

-See if I can get the sparkles to work.

Do bridges work over the Xannepan water?

I tested this, and yes; they do. However, sometimes weird visual glitches occur at the bridge footing. This only occurs on select bridges and I'm not sure what causes it.

how can fix this and what is the reason.

Looks like you installed some of the mods shown here and got some problems...

Well remove them from your plugin folder and you should be able to play normally. You should be aware this is not a finished thing, it can cause bugs and glitches.

BTW thank you for making me see this topic. I just can't believe my eyes. This is fantastic and I really hope it will be fully stable one day.
