Hey friends. Has anyone ever created a texture or overlay "family" like this? How does that work?

As far as I know, this is called a multi-layer texture, and when growing/plopping a lot with multi-layer textures, the game will randomly choose one of the textures. I don't know, however, if it's only right after growing/plopping or if the textures occasionally change, as it is the case if you use multiple base textures (this can happen with buggy LE or if you use Reader to stack textures by copying a texture to a tile where there's already a texture).

Yes, it's a basetexture multiFSH. Each texture contained, is randomly deposited by the game. You can create a multifsh with GoFSH. For example, create your 4 BMPs with the same TGI tttttttt-gggggggg-iiiiiiii-[C0|C1|C2|C3].bmp and the layer bmp (white) as -A0|...|A3.bmp Then write your GoFSH script with the command GENERATE=W0 ... for example : SRCDIR=*\multiFSH
DESTDIR=*\_tmp
GENERATE=W0
SRCDIR=*\_tmp
DESTDIR=*\
PACK=multi-txt.dat

Call up this texture in your Lots and one of the 4 textures will appear at random. Handy for making variations in a texture that is supposed to be plain!

What is good when you have nothing to say is that you can always pretend to listen. Anyway it does not prevent to think!

You dont have to use a script to make these if you only have one or two to do.  see bottom of page 11 in the manual.  In the script above the GENERATE=W0 is ignored and can be dropped.

I've been working on this for many months

Ah, when hard work pays off. Nice.

Hate how narrow I made the canal where it connects to the other tile but forced to live with it and work around it.
