Now that Colony Lakes is coming along nicely, I'm getting ready to continue some of the sprawl next door.

It's quite a contrast because Colony Lakes is very flat but all of this will be rugged and demand a very different style of building.

here is my current progress in my region. Today I cracked the 4 million inhabitant mark. Aberdeen itself has a population of over 2.7 million. I have started building the big port, it will take some time and soon I will start with Aberdeen International Airport which will be a tough project for me.



Newark is currently the second largest city in the region with a population of 563,000.

So instead of stagnant mini-lakes, we've got hills and views. I'm trying to do something different. Went out to Fair Oaks Ranch and Spring Ranch, Texas this past weekend and there are a lot of unique neighborhood/community setups out there (including main roads that look like two-laned RHWs with a well landscaped median.

So what are you thinking about when you are waiting for a tram at 11pm, well for me it's the inspiration for the following station:

Currently it's dependency free too, using nothing other than the NAM (needed for GLR anyhow). Note it is a 3x3 lot but I've done some magic to integrate it with the Street 90° WRC setup. Totally functional already, I just need to finalise the Props and packaging.

I plan to make a second version with unrestricted dependencies (i.e. I'll use 20 if I need too), to fully take advantage of the space.

Daily update:

Clearly I have a bit of an obsession with golf course communities. Anyway, this space in the middle was very much based off of Fair Oaks Ranch. The lots will be pretty large and spaced apart. Lots of greenery. It shouldn't be looking cookie cutter at all but also not too upscale.

That interchange was pretty fun to make, but later on down the line it's going to be upgraded, along with the highway. (probably long after this community is closed out)

I love this.  I've long asked for a better diagonal GLR station (the platforms are way too short on this one) but I know they're super difficult to make.  This at least makes some worthwhile improvements for passengers.  More space.  I LOVE the base texture, I've never seen that before.  I assume it would be pretty difficult to do a re-lot like you've done here on this type of setup?  I've long wanted to spruce up the Kingsway (pictured here).

Using only what's in the base game and the NAM, I've ended up with the following:

The way this is lotted, means the station can adapt to any setup in use, by default everything shows the NAM GLR & Street textures and the sidewalks/grasses are the Maxis ones. The clever bit was 'filling in' the inner corner tile of the 3x3 lot, so that it shows the actual network texture that would usually be there. I did this by way of a custom S3D prop. This means that however that inner texture of the street WRC looks in your game, it will match up automatically. This is necessary because the inner tile of the WRC is an impostor! Since it's now part of the lot itself, but with the right TEing, placing the lot transforms an ordinary curve into the draggable WRC:

Because the Car paths don't actually use this inner tile, car traffic is unaffected by the lot's presence. So that's the dependency free version, now I've got to dig into all the props I can find to make this station look as good as it can, the 'I don't care how many dependencies it needs' version. I'm already thinking about some diagonal benches, trash cans, bike parking, optional catenaries of some sort. If anyone has any suggestions, that's always helpful.

Maybe I can find diagonal replacements for the Tram signals, I'm itching to just model a set, in theory that shouldn't be a big job. Then I think about adapting a set of the SRM lights to the Tram Signals, to make some animated ones, lol, like I've time to make that happen. Likewise in a perfect world, I'd love to model some platforms too, but again I simply don't have the time for that right now either. Perhaps though in future I'll be able to improve it more, but for now it's serves it's purpose as a nice inner corner filler option, perhaps best used in a in commercial area.

The base texture is my personal custom sidewalk, however I released it along with an optional SWN mod, which overrides everything (well, many popular textures), to match it's style. You can download that on the STEX here.

So the main idea was simply to create a station designed to sit inside a WRC, making use of what's already available, hence re-using the props from the NAM. I don't know of any other props for this in the wild so I'm stuck with what there is, but yeah I hear you.

That really depends on what it is you are looking to alter. In this case I've totally re-made a 1x2 lot into a 3x3 lot with some pretty advanced TEing needed, despite copying the diagonal GLR station as my template.

If you just want to edit the existing lot, but not alter it's size or the path of the trams, that's actually pretty easy. Just make a copy with a new ID and fire up the Lot Editor where you can adjust things to your liking. If you want an extended size lot, I could handle the more awkward aspects of the TEing for you if need be.

Can I do update announcements here?, I mean it is what I've been working on and how else would anyone find out!

Anyhow, I've just updated the following mod to v3:

Make sure you remove the old files before you install the new version. Note too, the download now links to my personal Google Drive, since the .exe is 181MB and that's a bit large for easily getting it on the STEX. One installer now covers all options for users of SWN, TGN or both and there is support for Rivit's Urban TSR Mod too.

The update basically includes a number of new textures that KOSC managed to release just days after I had uploaded v2! It's taken me this long to get round to updating things, but as of now it includes customised versions of everything from the most recent set. Enjoy .

Continuing work on my terminals, this time adding angled lots to the ends of one of my regional terminals and the Lufthansa wing of my international terminal. Prior to creating these textures, this was all unused space.

The most notable thing about this is that I've finally created ramps for every single odd-angled aircraft prop from the AC Team. Interestingly, these are mainly Air Wisconsin and Air Canada Jazz. So for this to be my regional terminal, I guess my airport has to be in... the Upper Peninsula of Michigan maybe?
