All of a sudden it's fall and I haven't uploaded anything! So if I'm going to release anything in 2011 I better get going.

I do have a backlog of BATs though. 3 are exported and there are a few which are 90% ready to be exported. Out of those there are a few which I haven't posted here yet so they'll be surprises to most of you.

I'd like to upload at least one thing per week for a few weeks, and after that I'd like to upload something once a month for a few months. I should be finished uploading most of my WIPs around spring, and after that I'd like to get back to uploading something every month or so, like I used to do a few years ago.

Last night I made a list and I have 15 WIPs left. Out of those, I think about 10 of them are almost done (1001 Woodward for example needs a sign, a door, and some vents). Out of those 5 of them will be surprises.

I'd like to get those 10 released by spring 2012.

The BAT would probably be released in the spring. I've allotted a number of hours to work on these requests, and if there are a lot of winners the requests will have to be smaller, so I don't know how big of a request it will be.

You need to tell me what you think the avatar is privately through a PM. If you post your answer publicly in this thread you'll be disqualified and you could ruin other people's chances at figuring out what it is.

Congratulations on your latest release! I vividly remember this building when I was at an architecture summer camp in 2010 with the University of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It really hits home and makes me very happy to see such a beautiful upload. Thank you so much!

Thanks! I'm glad this upload has touched you! I think that's something nice about doing recreations like this, there's always someone who lived/worked in the building or saw it every day, or even just appreciate that something from their city was BATed (if it's an underrepresented city).

So I probably should have said something, but the avatar contest is over. Congratulations to the winners! I'm not sure when I'll start them, and I probably won't post much about them here, but they'll be on the STEX eventually. I think I'll be dedicating a few weeks in early 2012 to making them.

Gutterclub: Yeah I think that's how it goes, unfortunately. At least they're excited though. They're doing a world tour, so if they come near Detroit I'll try to see them.

Ion_Cannon: The winners got a set amount of hours I would work on their request, but if they somehow connect their request to the Stone Roses, they'll get extra time on it, based on how meaningful the connection is. So hopefully there will be some UK stuff.

I love UK buildings. Good job I recognised this artwork! I won't be going to see them. I was never that big a fan even though I liked them quite a lot... although, not until ten years after the fact

Any boost to the collection of British BATs available would be much appreciated by this moderately significant demographic of the SimCity playing population

Gutterclub: There are all sorts of buildings that could be connected to the Smiths with a little creativity. I think that contest might be "who can make the most clever, outlandish connection to The Smiths". When I think of it I imagine Morrissey sitting, making witty quips, like he does.

Psander5: I don't think many concert-going people are old enough to have listened to them the first time around. We're both young enough to be their kids and we're not especially young, lol

So I'm looking forward to some British BATs coming out of this. Independently of that though, I do have my eyes on a few. But like everything else I have my eyes on, who knows if I'll actually get to them.

Is Frosch Elementary School your own project like in design? If so, are there any more of them? It would be very nice and refreshing to see original drawings being realised as BATs! I'm looking forward to seeing more of you architects guys making your own designs into BATs ) That would be very nice

It is!

It's not finished though. Well, the design is finished, but those renders aren't final and there are other drawings and renders. I wanted to put an axonometric drawing of the building with all the different aspects of the design diagrammed on top of it, but it's not done so I used some mostly-finished renders instead. At some point I'll share the project more in depth here in this thread. The name I've given to the "real" project is Ypsilanti Elementary School, but I wanted a more generic name for SimCity use.

From this project I also have a small 1800s train freight depot as well as an 1800s passenger station mostly modeled. There are also a few houses (you can see two of them if you look closely in the background). I want to get all this into the game.

I have two more buildings which I want to bring into the game. One is an apartment building, and the other would best be described as a science center (it's a weird architecture school project) but from the outside it could more conventionally be used as an art museum and the layout would work well for it.

So I don't have everything together to be able to show the projects properly, but when I do I'd like to share them.

And also after these three are all done, I've got a notebook with building ideas that I'd like to develop more, so there will be more BAT adaptations in the future.

I applaud the idea of getting "personal" projects into the game, especially if those "personal" projects are coming from a trained architects or someone who has the ability and skills to produce something that would generally have some sense in the real environment (and by saying this I do not think that anyone who has less realistic ideas should not execute them and bring them into the game; also I do not want to undermine the significance of "based on RL building" author BATs). It's the excitement of creating "our own reality" in the game that I welcome.

So, again, you leave us with anticipation Jason. Nice. I will most definitively wait for those sketches to materialize
