Wow this thread moves fast... anyways since I can only type and not show any photos...

I think a lot of people are in favour of having ploppables whether it be commercial or residential. Personally I like having your buildings as ploppable commercials because they help me balance areas of my city where there is 300% more jobs than the population... but the vicinity of the jobs is not helpful enough to fulfill the job voids for residentials. Plopping a residential looking building that's actually a commercial building helps give the illusion of a linear styled neighborhood. Rather than sparse commercial buildings in a sea of residentials.

It seems that a lot of people would actually be in favour of ploppables considering the comments above.

And remember, not everyone likes the cheat .dll way of doing so, nor do they like having to go through so many lots. There are many of us that have 10's of GB's of plugins... while some of us exclusively only download the "good" material. Whether or not that your buildings are easily found using the cheat way is still kind of a hassle.

My personal Simcity 4 in-game landmarks menu is personalized and organized with proper icons and information. The value of having this luxury added onto the ploppable versions of your residentials would be a bonus and make your work much more attractive! Not to mention that adding a new download relative to your previous ones could boost more downloads of your other buildings.

As for the ploppable residentials seemingly working in an already built-in residential in a zoned lot... I'm personally not in favour of this at all really. It's kind of a lot of work. I've done it before, and it's not always 100% certain that they will work out. I'm not saying that a ploppable residential would work either... but it could be a seperate download for those whom prefer to plop residentials. Sure the menus will take a bit of a hit, but that's up to the downloader to decide on that really.

With all my latest uploads I've seen a MAJOR surge in my buildings being posted in City Journals. and I estimate that a good 99% of the reason why is because they are able to be PLOPPED. Imagine if all my buildings were ONLY growables!? haha... I highly doubt that there would be a lot of screenshots of my buildings in CJs at all.

As a STEX uploader and downloader... your residentials have to compete with several hundred... or even several thousand buildings to compete for a 2x2 growable spot. Sure the tileset or density could reflect and/or encourage your structure... but a good headstart to seeing your buildings in more CJs would to have them in a ploppable version.

EVEN if they are just a static landmark, I'm sure many would enjoy even just that! (:

I would be happy to do the work... or even partially part of the work (like the icons or something) haha... but at the end of the day it's up to you!

EDIT: ps; Yeah it's a shame that a new tileset can't be created... pretty much only MODs can replace a tileset... and a bunch of downloads! haha

The game needs growable residential though, so this doesn't really make any sense..I'm sure you can re-lot whatever you would require? Or re-lot all of them and release a plopable pack with Aarons permission, but personally I rather see Aaron spend time making more great buildings than modding all his old stuff into static landmarks!

    I see what your talking about kellydale. When I look at most city Journals I do see my building often, but the areas they always show are commercial area as all ways, like the city lives in the commercial building and not residential buildings. I feel like a good batter is being neglected because of the age plopables. :(

    When I decided to make buildings for the video game I love so much, and do not have time to play it do the the amount of bats I have and want to produce. I told myself I will need to be a different type of batter and not be a full time commercial batter and as well as not flow the majority batters. The majority batters on ST is commercial/ Landmarkin, on SC4devotions it a little more balanced so I can't fully say it's home to a type of batter, but is home to Sim Cities greatest batters, modder, and organizers.

    I will still make my buildings growable because this is the way Sim City 4 would like it, and like said before the landmark list is to long, there has to be another way around it and I think the cheat.dll is the answer to this. To let you know some of my apartments are CS$$ and C$$$. I will still have to think about making my buildings have a plopable version, it's just more modding for me and is it worth it, but I'm not to happy about this.

    I feel like a good batter is being neglected because of the age plopables. :(

    We're talking about Aaron's 2012 residentials that have already been released... which are residential growables already.

    As for the release of the ploppable pack with Aaron's permission... that's precisely what we're talking about! haha

    And yeah, I actually volunteered to do the modding and what not... so please read a few posts back gutterclub before posting :b (don't worry, I did the same thing today! haha), Kellydale2003

    @Aaron: I'm not asking you to do every single building in the future with a non-residential ploppable... but maybe this can be a semi-annual or annual upload where a seperate release pack is available to the public. I understand the whole residential thing, but that's the thing about a seperate ploppable pack! It's totally up to the downloader... as for the menu issue... ALSO up to the downloader on his or her preference! haha

    How about try making a poll whether people would be in favour of it or not?

    Ask something like "Would you like a ploppable version of my NYBT residentials?"

    And have answers corresponding with ploppable residentials or ploppable commercials! haha... just a thought!

    I think it would make sense to include ploppable CS "hotel" versions, but I personally would delete them because to me the appeal is that they are residential buildings and there are just so so so so so few of them. I think my plugins folder has Aaron Graham buildings, a handful of rowhouses, and maybe a handful of other buildings (Don Miguel's and a few others) and that's it for residential.

    Me and nofunk stopped including landmark versions a while ago. I think the few times I've made residentials (I'm ashamed :( ) I've included landmarks so that people could plop it to see what it looked like in-game without waiting for it to grow. I think this was before extra-cheats.dll. But poor T Wrecks. Back when he used to do all our modding everyone was very into having a lot of different versions, and so he ended up making a million different versions of everything. Nowadays me and nofunk just figure out what the most appropriate purpose it would have and we try to do a good job of just making it that. But anyway, if I were you, making buildings at the rate that you do, I would only include a single growable residential version most of the time. I think you're generous with the number of versions you provide as it is. And the nice thing about growables-only is that you don't have to make menu icons or descriptions.

    Anyway, my vote is to keep on doing what you've been doing.

    I can see using the extra cheats to plop the residential buildings, if it in fact works; however, then the problem is when you plop down a landmark building like that you expect it to only grow once. If multiple copies keep popping up it defeats the purpose. Imagine making NYC and dropping in the Empire State building in the exact right spot only to see 100 more pop up around it.

    @Aaron Graham, @kellydale2003: I'll give you my two cents about this topic, purely given as a SC4 player who enjoys having your creations in my Plugins folder.

    I always think that there are buildings "designed" to be placed in a city only once and others to be placed several times, when you can afford some repetition on them.

    I'd hate to see some of kellydale's creations to repeat a dozen times in my city like a Wren Insurance plague, given that, most of them, are very iconic, they clearly stand out among the Maxis stuff, they catch the eye with their shiny façades. For me, having kellydale's BATs as landmarks is quite practical, because I only want them once, I plop them and enjoy them.

    On the other hand, Aaron Graham's buildings disguise themselves with Maxis stuff (and don't get me wrong, they have much more quality than Maxis buildings) and this makes them that you can afford certain repetition with them. In fact, I remember having in one of my cities two identical buildings bottom-to-bottom, making up one single buildng in a 4x4 lot, and they look great! They're as necessary as landmarks to build a realistic city and to build your inner-city districts, this is why it's useful and practical to have them as growables. Of course, I sometimes want to plop them because I want that specific building, but, most of the times, they grow by they own. If they look nice, they stay; if they don't, they're bulldozed.

    With the rant above I mean that it the most practical option for players to have the same BAT on its growable and ploppable version (as long as it is modded propperly so it doesn't become a plague), but there are some times, like tall skyscrapers, campus buildings, iconic buildings, that it's better, more confortable, to have them only as ploppables.

    If you ask to me, I'd enjoy seeing Aaron's stuff in my Landmarks menu, even like static landmarks. This way, we're both the game and me deciding when to see his creations.

    Yeah... As for those whom are opposed to this whole idea...

    1) Aaron WON'T be doing the landmarks modding and menu work! I will.

    2) The download will be 100% at your disposal! It's not like you HAVE to download it! haha

    So I don't understand why so many people are having a fuss with this! :b

    These two points solve pretty much all the concerns and opposition points other members are having with this idea. In my opinion... it would be more beneficial than a 50x50 pixel loss in your landmarks menu! (:

    TekindusT- I know what you mean. I been busy trying to get another upload ready. Maybe there can be a landmark version of my buildings. :D

    I have been busy with working on another upload to come. I have to say this building looks great with Jasoncw and nofunk bat's, I think together we can master an avenue with a style of building like this. :D

    The Commercial building maybe a little hard to grow, but you can plop them, just find them in the building plop cheat list under NYBT 30 E. 81 Street. :D

    The building has a flaw, and I do not want to postpone the uploading plan for this building, so I will plan to re-export the model, all you have to do is just use the installer to over right the old model files and there should not be any changes to the other files. :(

    Here’s the Hattan House, these apartments are Wall to Wall (W2W) buildings. This is lovely brick 17 story apartment building set is a New York City style. The architecture style for this building is a modernism style completed in 1962, by architect H. I. Feldman. There are four bats/ Building models, each one have different brick color. Each model has four lot types R$$, R$$$, CS$$, and CS$$. Hattan House is a lovely and quiet place to stay for your Sims. Enjoy the upload!!

    I don't know the building so it might not be 100% right, but i'd definitely add some water marking or stain to the bottom of the water tower bricks, it looks too clean at the base and kind of contrasts with the roof texture..

    as for store names I submit for consideration: Al's All Appliances, Bennie's perpetually going 'out-of-business' business [how to shorten the name to fit ?], Tom's Corner Barber Plus, Floria's Furnishings, Sims A-lot [sims version of save-a-lot, its a grocery], Berts Market, Mia's Produce Market, Ed's No-Class Clothiers, Lon's Legal Services, Rita Real Estate, Ray's Meat-pies, Hardwood Cafe, Clocks & Decor, Angel's Christian Bookstore, Reading Worm Bookstore... Sims Dentalworks, Doctor Ros' check-up, All Feet shoe store, Fred's Floored flooring & carpet [shorter name ?] or Fred's Rug-n-Carpet, Jo's Italian deli, Philly Beefstake ... I'm trying to think of some retail services lacking in the cities... hope that fires up some inspiration...

    That is a fantastic BAT! Really well made.

    For the roof texture I prefer the earlier one, the new one might be more what it looks like in real, but for the game the texture stands out too much I find. the other one blends better. Maybe tone it down a noch?

    And I second what gutterclub said about the bottom of water tower.

    The roof material isn't bad, but I think gutterclub has a point - the water tower enclosure looks a bit detached now.

    I'm also wondering about the top frame in that water tower enclosure - what is it supposed to be? Metal? Concrete?

    Otherwise the building is absolutely standard - Aaron Graham standard, that is, which means "totally awesome". ;)

You have named so many that all of this can't fit on one building I think so you will end up being the the credits of my other buildings that has commercial on the ground floor. Once again that you so much buddy.

    andisart- I understand what you mean, I do not want the roof to look plane and plus with variations I can make two roof types so not one have to be to mad at me. :D
