    Nice work Turnpike!

    A quick suggestion:

    uYQT5Tl.jpg

This would get rid of the 180 degree flyover (not really realistic) and would make the interchange smaller in size.

Durfsurn, cool what you can make with the new two levels, I haven't fooled around with them just yet. But you gave me an idea.

I hardly post I know, just watch and when I barely get time to play I do. I'm like the wind, I pass by only ever so often; but when I do I leave something behind...

Who likes bad real world-based interchanges? Keep in mind this is pre-construction (Before 2000)

For that RHW-4 overpass why not use L1 instead of L2. With the flex ramps you can get them to the same size while looking less.... clunky ;)

I'm sorry but that got garbled in my head as jibberish and I have no clue what you're talking about with a picture (lol)

Also, if it's an "effective" use, I didn't go for that. This interchange is very ineffective with the ammount real world cars it gets and I wanted to copy it the best I could. But if what you suggest will make it look more like the real interchange, I'm all for it. Thanks either way. :thumb:

Figured I needed to start getting some RHW workflows going before I introduced RHW into my current region, so I probably spent about 3 solid hours creating this.  I'm pretty happy with it, although there are some areas where I might want to revisit the grading - the ramps can be rather finicky.

    Trumpet.png

Trumpet interchange for a closed-system (or ticketed) toll highway.  These are quite prevalent (in one form or another) along toll highways up here in the northeast.  In many instances, it'll consist of a toll booth on the neck between two trumpets.

I played around with it a bit, and I think that's about as tight as the loop can be made.  Ideally, I would like to lengthen and tuck the inferior (right side) ramps in a bit closer to the RHW carriageway (using a FAR ramp) but the grading with respect to the ramps near the tollbooth probably would not allow it.  This might be more easily accomplished by putting the highway over the ramp, but in a real-life situation you're more likely to see the ramp go over the highway - it's cheaper and it provides a visual cue to the interchange for drivers on the highway.

An update to yesterday's trumpet after an intensive sandbox session:

    Trumpet2.png

I have a large R zone (30,000 +/-) off the bottom, C to the right and I off the top (with no other means of connection).  This ramp sees about a 50/50 split in traffic, so the old single-lane ramp quickly became congested (the tolls didn't help matters).  Obviously I didn't account for the return (evening) commute; in such a case the complementary inside loop would need to be widened as well.  Unfortunately, the tools that exist within the NAM can only go so far into making a "clean" configuration on the ramp approach roadway (to say nothing of the cluster**** of an intersection at the end), but I think with some creativity it would be very possible to create one so long as you allow yourself enough room for the necessary starter pieces.  Of course, in any properly designed city this wouldn't be so much of an issue.  But such is the point of sandboxing!

Now for some roadgeekery:  As it turns out, this trumpet has been built backwards (or I simply put the R and I zones at the wrong ends :)).  In general, it should have been built in a configuration such that the higher volume direction follows the flatter side (i.e. outside) of the loop.  In some instances of unbalanced volumes, the inside loop itself might be compromised so as to flatten the outside loop as much as possible.  For example:

    Thanks a lot! :)

If anyone's interested I made a video of me making a partial cloverleaf with the RHW as part of my SimCity 4 Let's Play series.

Combined the new rhw2/3 tulep with w-rhw2 and ended up with this. Simple, but realistic.

All of these pics are tempting me to download the prerelease. Have you encountered any issues?

sorry. but i'm not good to build large RHW networks, and large RHW interchanges, can you help me?

A partially unrolled cloverleaf... (Click here for full size, if you dare seeing a 3MB mosaic. :P)

lol, some of my standard screenshots exceed 3MB in size :P

Very nice work! Gets rid of the weaving.

This guide will help you, albeit being a little outdated. And also, the SPUI piece is under the Avenue/RHW crossings pieces.

This is the one. Not really designed for the RHW, but it gets the job done.  :)

Add RHW-4 L0 to L2 transitions to the SPUI piece, and abracadabra!

Here's an interchange I made. It took long, I'd say about two - three hours, but the result is satisfying to me.
