Something I did way back in 2009 :D

Do I see a cheat with avenue curves?   :thumb:  :P  :P

Something I'm working on right now. The lower interchanges you see are 10s highways. Hate when sims don't use them :D

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Back then it was considered a workaround :D Does NAM 32 have those wide 90° RHW4 curves? :D

Hello guys, been trying to learn to use the RHW properly last few days, not as easy as it seemed from watching videos on youtube.

This is my first try at a big highway junction.. ugly :(

a1b28b169b.jpg

Can anyone tell me what a better solution to those ugly angled curves could be? If anyone knows a good tutorial on how to use the interchange pieces, please let me know!

This is just an exit from the highway, was easy to do, unlike above. Problem is the texture glitch near the ramps... any idea what is causing that?

Not too bad!

And this is my first try at railway interchange.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

I think the ugly angled curves you refer to are due to the fact that you're not using the right FLEXHeight piece. You're going from level ground to L1 RHW on the overpasses, which means you should use the regular 1-level transition instead of using the 1-level on-slope transition. I personally like to go for on-slope, but the ground needs to be lifted (or lowered, if you wish) by 7.5m for the on-slope to work. Otherwise, you'll get those horrid sharp bumps. Good luck, hope to see you posting more :)

I believe we should spice things up, like posting interchanges that actually have traffic on? :P

Nontheless, great work everyone :)

@Haljackey, I'm pretty sure you remember building something that looks like this, right?

Just a couple practice interchanges. I plan to use these in an actual city sometime.

A cloverfold

And a turbine

My first post on the forum btw

WoW! Those are very original interchanges (at least for me).

Great use of the FLEX curves on the second one. Both are very pretty and awesome looking :D

On another theme, but check out my latest little creation.. it's a work in progress ofc...

End of highway at far western edge of a massive region.. wanted to create a sort of service station / exit /end of highway interchange.

There is also a nearby town with some interesting street layout being planned :P

Interesting bit of spaghetti there, but it seems a bit overkill for just a service station. And if I were you, I'd keep the freeway going to the edge of the region to make it look like it actually connects to the SimWorld beyond your region.

Thank you. It just took me some time to have something worth posting about lol

Thank you. The FLEX curves really are awesome to have in the toolkit.

Thank you. I have spent countless hours experimenting to learn how everything works together. It was worth it I think.

And that is an interesting terminus. Nice work.

I have 2 words for this.

HOLY MOLY

How did you muster the will to accomplish that trickery? :D

I got something, more humble than yours @McDuell :P

When will they make level1 curves? :)

That is unbelievable!!! Great work McDuell.

And here I am, showing this crappy thing, which for me is good stuff. Hope to learn to make stuff like McDuell's some day soon... you should make a video to show us how its done man! ha.

Anyway.. this is my effort at saving space, got a highway exit and 2 levels of rail going under it.. had to sacrifice perfect symmetry for the tunnel entrance.

If I were you, I'd put the rail in between the two halves of the motorway. By doing this, you can get rid of these umh.. "creative" tunnels ;)

Fatjuice, kingtai: Thank you! :)

Btw: I started building interchanges about 7 years ago when the RHW 2.0 came out and may well have built around 600 or more interchanges since then. Each incarnation of RHW gave a few more possibilities, so I rebuilt some of the earlier interchanges over and over again, together with new designs. For a long time (until NAM 30) building complex interchanges was often like solving a big puzzle: put the right pieces into the right locations. As jigsaw puzzles (>1000 pieces) were a kind of hobby for me in earlier times, I seem to have got a flair for the puzzle pieces in the RHW as well.

kingtai: If you want to keep the tunnels, you could also use the FLEX Ramp type D1 piece and put it one tile nearer the tunnel entrance. As the FLEX piece has no MIS starter, there should be enough space to put the wide 90° curve in afterwards. ;)

And yeah, that's a stadium. It's by a Japanese BATer if I remember correctly.
