I especially like the second one - it captures the German "Bundesstraße" look very well - except for the yellow road markings, of course. ;)

Thanks, that's the look I was going for. I actually quite like the yellow markings though, I think they look better in my opinion. They also help me avoid localisation - the layout is mostly european, but it looks american, so it could pretty much be anywhere...

Interchanges such as those are actually fairly common in the northeastern US - generally along the major US routes which were the superhighways of their day, before the advent of the interstate highway system.  For instance you can find several of them along US 20 throughout Upstate NY.  I don't think you see too many new ones being built nowadays except in the case of super-twos.

Interesting setup with those dual roundabouts in the top left corner!

Glad you like it. I've been resorting to that setting because of the terrain (the terrain is slightly rising towards the west).

Just another interchange sitting at a diagonal highway.

<snip>

Aren't they the greatest?

Indeed. They are sometimes quite a challenge to build, but perhaps that's what makes them interesting.

I am finally beginning my second biggest learning curve: learning RHW

This is my first attempt at creating an interchange, which to date, work wonderfully in my city.

Be kind...lol

@Mymyjp

it is a good first attempt, but the only problem is, it is not complete (if you want full access that is).
There is no option of going west-north, east-south :O

Mymyjp: That's a nice partial interchange.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

As Johan said, it's not bad for a first try, but turning right is not an. The way you've laid it out, though, looks like it should be pretty easy to rebuild into a cloverleaf through a few simple clicks. :)

Great job everybody, really like what I see!

I built a rather unique diamond by a rail line.

A trio of diamond interchanges serve the tile. Here are the other two:

Okay, I didn't mean to give all this away before I start my new CJ, but here's one more. An interchange between a highway and a federal route. Terrain restrictions had me get a little creative to maintain grade-separation. Blunt, but it works.

That's quite an interesting concept for a 4-way interchange. I might copy it.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I would have not really realized that...I will have to hunt down more youtube videos and keep on finding new threads about interchange and RHW.

I think that's a really good interchange, if you had used FAR pieces and ramps I think it'd look great! Nice work man!

I've seen more than a few of these.  Most often, it's because one of the highways is tolled, and the barrier is placed on the connecting ramp.  I have seen a few due simply to terrain, however.  Very nice design.

Thanks man, not like I invented it anyway. The german Wikipedia lists it as a "one-quadrant solution", which really fits it pretty much head on.

Thanks. :) And by the way, considering yours is a first attempt, it's a really, really good shot. Everything looks nice and well thought-out. It really isn't full-access, but it seems like it would rather easily upgraded, seeing as how it's very compact at its current stage. I'd be thinking turning it into a turbine would probably be the easiest and most compact solution.

Indeed, I know of a few of these interchanges used to force you through a toll booth and it's probably the most feasible way to do that. I just happened to think of this sort of solution when I faced the terrain difficulties I was forced to work with, which don't really look like much on the screenshot, but you guys would know how picky the RHW can be with elevation, so I just figured it would be a pretty sensible thing to do. Especially seeing as how the federal route isn't really a highway per se. And thanks for the compliment. :)

It's slightly off-topic, I know, but I was looking at the suburbs of my great homeland's great capital when I came across this eyesore of a cloverleaf. Looks more like something drawn by a five year old than any other infrastructural hub I've ever seen before that actually exists.

73-229 intersection, Farsta, just south of Stockholm, Sweden.

Ha, well. You also have Slussen. Now that is an eyesore. (On the other hand, it dates from the 1930s, so it's really an icon of modernity, a time when Belgium didn't have any interchanges.)

You might want to realign that MIS ramp coming out of the roundabout - that's an awfully tight turn!  Otherwise, it's an interesting configuration.

Honestly, that doesn't strike me as too bad considering the situation, although those cutoff ramps inside the northern half are something I don't think I've seen before.  (I have seen mid-ramp intersections.)

It looks to me like an area where you once had 2 arterial roadways that over time became overcongested and a crude interchange was thrown in.  Probably a long time ago, when cars were smaller and people drove a lot slower.  There are a lot of interchanges like that in New England, for instance.  In this case it looks to me like Helgdagsvagen (or some other predecessor roadway) and Vinthundsvagen once may have been connected (with an intersection with Skondalsvagen?) and that segment of 229 was patched in to handle the capacity when they built 73.  Of course it's possible I'm totally wrong.  Forensic highway design.  I love trying to guess how roads used to look.

Back on topic, these are the types of interchanges I enjoy seeing in SC4.  7 approaches with full access (although the Sondagsvagen approach looks quite redundant/a mistake/hilarious).  Build it!  And don't forget the bike paths.

Sure is. I don't think anyone minds how ugly the actual intersection is. It's the first cloverleaf in Europe that just happens to be located slap dash in the middle of it's 46th largest city. The surroundings don't look all that bad if I may say so myself. I take pride in it, and I'm happy the proposition a few years ago to reconstruct it didn't fall through, even though it suffers from three times it's max. capacity daily.

I like how there's a building in the middle of the loop.

It's crazy how far infrastructure can be stretched. The West Gate Bridge in Melbourne is sitting at 500% capacity, with the signs pointing to that becoming higher.
