I can't mod...but I can lot.  If you want to send me a PM, I can show you some of the lotting I've done to see if you think it's up to snuff (a project like this deserves the best!).  I haven't released any of mine, but I do a ton for my own cities.

So, I recently visited Apple Park in Cupertino, CA and let's just say I immediately got inspired!

apple-campus-2-01.jpg

Can someone help me LOT this thing? I'm still adding detail but the building needs to be split down in half to accommodate the 64 FSH files limit per view.

I've never split a building like this before and plus this lot is really massive. I won't be rendering in the trees with it. The LODs are a "C" shape to be rendered in two separate models. I'll need someone to mod the lots and stitch these two pieces together while also adding some beautiful trees from @Girafe into the mix as well as the normal props.

I'm aware there are other buildings on this complex, but for now I think I will just focus on the main Apple Campus 2 building. I want to complete this one asap.

12,000 High-tech sim jobs will be created by this thing in a 32x32 lot (if that's even possible).

Please let me know if you're interested in modding/lotting this lot (because I don't know how lol).

Coming from someone who used to literally live right next to this site  and who worked as part of the development team of this building IRL, I am soo looking forward to seeing this in-game.  Hope you are able to finish it!

As for LOD splitting I suggest taking a look at the discussion/example about 2/3 way down page 9 of the linked thread below.  The method worked well for me on a test model.

What about doing it on quarters? If I'm seeing it right, is a symmetric circular building, so any section would be equivalent to the others. That would reduce the rendering workload to half and, if done in a perfectly fitting lot, would also allow for more combinations, like a zig-zagging curved building instead of a round one.

Hi @kellydale2003!

Thank you for all your hard work, you're one of my favorite creators of all tome.

I'm running into a new problem with your BATs unfortunately and I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same thing.

I recently switched my cpu from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and for some reason your BATs that I already have placed are coming up as just grey blank lots and new plops crash the game. Its only your lots, specifically the Paris Building and Palais Theater.

Any suggestions?

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Really nice building!

How should "install" it? Put it inside the plugins folder or do I need anything extra?

New quick 2x3 residential tower on the way. Daytime already complete, just need night lights.

I also may build some stuff for the dam I have built there. I started a mountainous region and I feel like a dwarf from LOTR trying to conquer the slopes.

FYI: Due to my lost data, I do not have the Linda Swampy Medical Center anymore. If anyone wants to provide a copy or upload it to STEX themselves please feel free to do so! You have full permission. I would even like a copy! Lmao!

Wow really nice creations here. I sent a DM with the LS Medical Center. Either you or I also can do the upload (if you like how I wrapped it up), then place it under your account. Thanks for letting this beautiful building back to the STEX :)

I'm very happy to see you're doing this tower again. :bunny:

Apart from that I hope you keep posting some previews. In Germany we say that anticipation is the greatest joy. So I think a lot of us feel that joy when they see a new BAT coming. My mind immediately starts thinking about where to put it and that is part of the fun. I wouldn't want to miss that in regard of your BATs - which undoubtedly belong to the very best.

The new tower has some lovely "bones". Looking forward to seeing it fleshed out. The new residential tower shown in your pics from last month also looks very good, especially the texturing and the "transparency" of the glass texture. Looking forward to seeing a nightlight preview. Thank you for your continued efforts!

I have to agree with @Bobelboy, I have had a very similar experience as they have with your updates. They build anticipation and get me thinking about how your works can improve my cities. Take the example of the Wiltshire Grand, I have been eagerly awaiting it's release for over 2 years, I know which of my cities I want to it be in and have hardly worked on that city tile in over 2 or 3 years but as soon as that beauty is finished and hopefully released I know I'm diving right back in. Cheers!

I'm not surprised. To be sincere, looking at my plugin's folder you're immortalized by virtue of your bat master pieces. And it's a matter of fact immortals can do that as often as they like. Returning from grave.

But even if I try to play it cool I can't hide my gladness you brought some nice works from the other side with you. Thank you.

Great to see you back with some fresh work. Edmonton getting one over their Calgary rivals with the Stantec!

Can't wait to add this to my cities!

Hey guys, thanks for the comments! In true typical fashion my laptop has broke once again just as I get back to batting.

Its in the shop and it's getting a new motherboard.

I have the files backed up because this ain't my first rodeo.

Anyway, does anyone see the SimCity Community making a city-building metaverse anytime soon?

Imagine if we built a metaverse that replicated the real world land geography and an indie-built tile game (similar to SimCity 4) that could build on it?

Using NFTs we could ensure no duplicates are made and that tech would even be applicable to BATS.

BATs, in a new format and not to be connected in anyway with the Maxis/EA/SimCity brands, would become monetizable, limited and just plain free to distribute to users who wish to build their cities in this city-building metaverse.

This city-building metaverse would be incredible watching thousands of cities being built.

Meta-cities in their respective meta-countries would have their plug-ins and collective economic conditions.

So if a group of great mayors make the majority of meta-cities in a country prosper, the entire meta-country's economic conditions also improve.

And of course at anytime, you are welcome to sell your meta-city and the NFT BATS in it if you wish.

Since SaaS is for sure here to stay, I'm also sure making Autocad/3dsmax accessible to BAT creators of this new meta world and even providing royalties from this NFT Building marketplace would be of interest to them.

    What do you guys think?

PS; Wouldn't it be funny if the team at SimCity were working on this? People-built/improved games often do so much better than corporate ones.

Contributors usually don't have deadlines whereas employees usually do and I think that's what makes this project differ from anything SimCity maybe working on next.

I think a 'hook for a game like this that we haven't really seen with others game is that there are multiple people building in the same meta-country as you.

Mayors can have votes in their meta-countries for mega projects like infrastructure.

These votes would based on the adult population of their meta-cities and with the mayoral approval rating affecting how many of those citizens side with you would determine your power among the other mayor's in your respective meta-country.

This incentivizes a lot of citizens and for mayors to ensure their digital citizens remain happy.

We would see big influential, but poor cities as well as tiny, rich meta-countries.

And the game would go on forever.

As cities evolve in real time, so would the BAT additions, changes to the game, etc.

So much is possible! I'd like to build a city-building game in its own metaverse!

Question is tho: to tile? or not to tile?

    I say tile the world!

We, stardust, are the oddest observers of self (a.k.a. the universe).

I'm just a group of atoms typing this.

    What do I know?

Not gonna lie, I thought this sounded pretty intense and complicated when I first read it. But the more I've thought of it the more I'm into it. You're definitely on to something here.

Still today so many people believe architecture ist art and games are entertainment. They should browse 30 minutes through this thread. Just the pictures. It would need no words to make them understand this difference, this antithetic thinking doesn't work anymore. If it ever did. For many years Kelly brought art from architecture into our game. If there ever was a gap between (serious) art and (pleasuring) entertainment, Kelly showed it can be filled. Seamlessly.

I love all these modern glass skyscrapers. I feel like we don't have enough of them for SC4 even though they are extremely popular in real life.
