Rouge Palace is sweet, the modeling is fine, and the texture so far are great. Good job!

The first bat show is well modeled too, I like it's shape. Though I don't really find the glass texture great, maybe if you could add more noise (Well i'm not quite sure here, i'm not good at glass and windows, perhaps a good BATer will come here) and tone down a bit the reflection. Also as some roofjunk like an antenna, some Satellite dishes etc.

And the other building is fine as well. :thumb:

I'll take a quiet life... A handshake of carbon monoxide.

Hey guys! Sorry for the non updates over the past few days! I caught the flu, and it was horrible! But now I'm back and ready to BAT! (:

    BTW...

    :party:10th page, 10,000+ views!!!! :D

Thanks to everyone for their support.

Although I've been sick, I haven't been able to do a whole lot of BATting despite staying home.. and I haven't yet picked up my new computer. One more payment of $250.00 then it's mine! MUAHAHAHA!

    REPLIES...

@Gutterbclub - Thanks, I'll take your suggestions into consideration... but before I do that. I think I want to give the roof one more chance! in my next reply, I'll have a hybrid of your thoughts, and mine! (:

    @111222333444 - Thanks (:

@T Wrecks - Done! Will post in next post! :D

    @art128 - Thanks a lot! (:

@Fred_Ceafus - Yup! Hopefully this will give me a grip on my projects and speedy up the process!

@Audry km - Nope no nightlights yet... and thanks :D

    -------------

Like I said, I haven't been able to accomplish much.. but here's a bit of a teaser on the mall! (:

    CandyRender-PRM-001.jpg

As for Rouge Place, I don't really know the architecture of old buildings. The building I am referring to is the Paris Building in Winnipeg, Manitoba built in 1919 I believe. So this is the layout I like the most, and I think I may stick with this one...

    Compilation.jpg

As for this one.. I've decided to name it as a medical centre. In the future, it will be ploppable as a Hospital, and growable as a High-tech facility for pharmaceuticals!

    compilation004.jpg

A bit of a scale test... the original dimensions weren't working... so I scaled it up a bit.

    wretryuio.jpg

Teaser?... this is the most recent one so far (:

Great idea to make the building a medical centre and - even better - a high-tech industrial facility! I think it would work well in that function. A few loading bays might be a sensible addition in that case, however - either to get the pharmaceuticals out or to get the patients in. :P

@Delecto - Thanks Delecto! And I'm really enjoying your newly rendered buildings in your thread! Can't wait for them to be released (:

@T Wrecks - Yes definitely! I will add the loading bays in the next renders... btw... Did we have the Trixies already? :O

    UPDATES...

I'm still trying to figure out this building... I think the glass is too modern for the shape that it's in. The boxy shape is more of an 80's 70's type. I don't know what I should change... but I thought I'd change the rooftop and give it one more chance before going back to the old boxy shape one I previously started with.

Here's a couple renders with blue glass, gold glass, and black glass...

    WZ4-003-1.jpgGoldVersion.jpg

    Black glass...

    BlackVersion.jpgBlackVersion2.jpg

Render test of Aza condos in-game. This lot features the garage doors, and a small parking lot in the rear with trees situated before the back-entrance. Other lots and models will feature no parking lots with garage doors, no garage doors with no parking lots, no garage doors with a parking lot, and different variations and colors. As of this moment, I'm fixing the textures on the condos to make it seem more realistic. Because shining stucco is not realistic! haha

    azacondos.jpg

    Here's Rouge Place...

Of course the geometry isn't final.. I'm still cleaning up and fixing the geometry from my past bad habits!

    Compilation2.jpg

I really love old wall-to-wall buildings like these ones...

    w2w.jpg

So Rouge Place will definitely be a wall-to-wall place too!

    sfdggfhj.jpg

As for this medical centre, here is the progress...

    compilation005.jpg

I test rendered the building! Here's the result plopped on my water-front medical area...

Very nice projects you have going here! I actually like the skyscraper you have coming along - I don't think the shiny-ness/reflectiveness of the glass conflicts with the style of the building. If it were less reflective that wouldn't be a problem - but I don't think it is a problem now. The medical centre also looks very good. Great work and I look forward to watching further progress! :D

First tower: I definitely love the gold and black glass as opposed to the blue glass. Only problem is that I cannot decide between the two.

Aza condos: Can the shining stucco be replaced with shining granite? I think they look really great with reflective material, very modern! :ohyes:

Rouge place: Normally I'm more biased towards tall buildings, but this building looks like it has excellent potential in any city, regardless of height! :O

Medical center: This could easily be the most realistic-looking medical building I have ever seen being made for this game. I hope it has a HUGE capacity, because I intend to use it. :P

Blue glass is way better and feels a lot more realistic, it brings the blinds out and that's a good thing..maybe both versions could be released? But if one I'd def say blue..

Condos look fine from what I can see, work on the textures to bring life to it as you already said.

W2W is coming along, just make sure it lines up with the other W2W's and is scaled accordingly and it'll be great.

Medical centre looks fantastic. Prob should make the signs red a little less saturated, looks a bit cartooney when the rest of the building is so great.

Nice models if I could add something I'll say that the Rouge Place roof texture has a feeling of cardboard, I am also not so sure about the texture used for the roof of the medical center. And about the first tower well you can always release two versions I'll go for the blue and black, but you may also want to check the roof as it looks way too pink in those renders.

    Great work!

Whoa, so many updates. And no, the Trixies haven't started yet.

Office tower: I still prefer the boxy roof over the recent version. :P In fact, I think I like the blueish/greenish glass a little bit more than the dark version, but it would certainly be nice to have both! Reminds me a bit of Dusktrooper's Vanadium Tower vs. Evil Vanadium HQ.

Small condos: My biggest issue with that building is the grey rooftop; it looks unfinished to me.

Rouge Place: Coming along nicely; and good to see that it will be W2W! Does it line up smoothly with BSP stuff? The window distribution over the back walls is really funky, by the way.

Medical Centre: Looks great IMO, I like the building very much! Perhaps the textures (especially the roof textures) are a bit too clean, even for a new building. The lettering... well... to be honest, I prefer to have buildings without anything written over them, with the exception of commercials. Buildings of a certain company (from a small McDonald's drive-through to a tall insurance company HQ) can look good and suitable no matter what the theme/backdrop of the region is: Asian, French, Arabic, Latin American, whatever. Letterings on civic buildings are a different affair, though. It's not that big a deal, but I still thought I'd throw in my thoughts.

Rouge Place is modeled excellently! My only comment is the same as harishna's, it has that cardboard feel on the roof...but I'm sure you will change that. I look forward to seeing what you do with the windows.

The hospital looks great; nice, big and modern! It reminds me somewhat of the new St. Joseph hospital in Indiana where my aunt works...not nearly as large but it's still a great building. We really don't have many good hospitals, and especially not ones that would go well in a large city.

The first building looks great, but something about the glass seems too 'strong'. Otherwise I will re enforce what Gutterclub said.

    Great work, my friend.

Glass Tower: To me it definitely looks like it was built within the last 15 years or so. I think any blue or green glass would be good for it. I agree with Yoshi about the strong glass. I think glass of this kind of building would be more minimal looking. Still though, it looks good as-is and there would probably be interest in the other glass types.

Aza condos: I think the color temperature is wrong. It has a weird blue hue going. I would warm it up. Also, I think this building would be great in concrete.

Rouge Place: Actually I don't think this one is good at all!!! :( I think you said it best yourself when you said that you don't know historical architecture very well, and so the BAT is clunky and kind of cartoonish. All the other buildings are looking great but I think you could leave this one in the past. I think if you completely restarted it though, or started a different building, it would turn out good, but yeah I would take this one as practice.

Medical Center: I think this is my favorite out of the four and it looks really good. My comments here are mainly nitpicking. The boxes (benches?) on the patio are too reflective. For the metal panels, try giving each panel a slightly different brightness. It should be really subtle though. And also, I think it could use a little more texture. At CGtextures in the buildings>modern offices section there are a lot of facades with a similar cladding system. I agree with the others about the signs. I would probably remove them. If you want to keep them I would remove some of them, and the others I would make much smaller, and black, and I'd make sure they didn't overlap any windows. But yeah I think the building is really classy but the signs are really tacky.

Personally i think that you might give another try at Rogue place.

I've thought it looked rather strange - but the real thing, the Paris Building, doesn't look any more "normal" than your BAT, lol.

    650671-Large.jpg

IDK if you really wanted to model exactly the real thing, but i think it's worth to give it a try (i mean, fully recreate it).

I agree with Twrecks on the office tower. The older roof version looks better. About the color of the glass, the blue looks better. Althought, different versions of the building would be quite nice =) You know, the blue version with the older roof, and maybe a black glass version with the new roof???

Now it gives me hope that some day you will find the time to release residential bats, as I notice you have several projects back in 2009 and 2010 not yet released. Otherwise, the thread the-ones-that-never-made-it-to-the-stex will become more crowded. >.<

    @ Sim_link - Thank you (:

@ Audrey Km - Yeah, the orange is only temporary!

@ Shinkansen1 - If you could find me a condo reference with external granite as the facade, that would be absolutely stunning! :D

@ Gutterclub - Thanks for the suggestions! (:

@ Harishna - Yes, I realized my problem why it looked very cardboard! It was because the bump map wasn't there! :whatevs:

@ T Wrecks - Thanks a lot! I will take that into consideration. And I haven't realized the individuality of BSP as opposed to W2W's (if there is one!).

@ Yoshiisland - Thanks, I will take that into consideration.

@ Tcx - Thanks! :D And nice uploads btw, I haven't bothered to download them until now (:

@ Jasoncw - Thanks! Your critisizm was the most constructive and it really helped. I'm still undecided what kind of facade for the medical centre! I was thinking even something into alunimim... but idk. It might take away the cleanliness away from it.

@ CarmineHilton - Oh gosh! This was your plaza, right!? :b

@ Francis90b - I don't think an accurate re-creation would be applicable since I'm at this stage already! (maybe if I got super bored and my computer got wiped out *knocks on wood*) :b

    @ Frex_Ceafus - Thanks! (:

@ Aaron Graham - Thanks, will do! :thumb:

@ Mcarch - Thanks, You really tipped the boat on that one! I just needed another opinion on the roof! (:

    @ PBGV103 - Got it! (:

3.6 Ghz Radeon HD and 3D Graphics.

    8 GB Ram installed

    Quad Core

    Windows 7 Professional

    2.5 TB total memory

and I forget the other specs... but it's pretty good! I strictly got it built for 3ds max, but quickly found out how much 3ds max memory could take. I got any random keyboard, mouse, and screen. But I seen this really nice screen that was on a mac, and I think I might go for something like that... and for my previous laptop that gave birth to all the BATs... I just gave it away and by the end of the year I will build an even more powerful computer! I was thinking a laptop, but the guy who built it (my uncle) recommended a laptop that's worth $10,000+! I was thinking about it, and I think I might take a chomp at it. If my brother can get a $22,000.00 guitar, I can get a computer at less than half that cost! I'll be starting University in a couple months for H. Daniels faculty of Architecture at University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. I'm still grasping the concept of how these computers work, but thanks to Mythbusters I've finally got my foot in the door. Ahahaah!

I'm sorry for not uploading a lot of projects! But hey, you'd be happy to hear that I've been exporting! (:

On another note... if you haven't noticed... Me, Cockatoo and Jasoncw have started a new project. (and yes this is deemed to be uploaded, I promise I won't abandon).

The Toronto Dominion Centre Project Thread

    tdcoverview-v2.jpg

So I've always wanted to create a super tall here on Simtropolis to get a bit of a name.

I've done attempts, but never quit uploaded because of various reasons (mainly due to others doing the same projects) I've worked on the Original World Trade Centres, The New World Trade Centres, International Commerce Centre, Shanghai World Financial Centre, and now this! I've decided to have a tight deadline of one month!

Can anyone guess it? (You all know me, I won't stop working on another project because I have another one in the works.. I'm an octopus! >:)

    girafeexample.jpg

    temp3-3.jpg

As for Rouge Place... despite the less encouraging remarks, I've decided to continue modelling it!

    dfdfdf.jpgfdfsd.jpg

I see potential in this BAT, even though the real life one looks a bit cartooney!

    parisbuilding.jpg

The one on the left... coming soon! ;)

    ghjfg.jpg

This photo mostly coincides with the Toronto Dominion Centre Project. I've personally exported one of the towers out of selfishness, but in the end. You will have it all! :D

Me and Cockatoo's deadline for the STEX upload finalized is July 2012 (I think). It was a realistic deadline, but I'm still pushing for a possible April deadline (why I've worked so much on it!)

    Good stuff here,

    New project without name:

Finally you turn on the black option in MR for Flora. You can increase a little bit the size of the leaves even if they are larger than in reality above all if the project takes height (120 -125% maybe).

Ground is too reflexive and seems to be marble. Road: problem with big project like this one is the integration in the game is not often so beautiful above all with the road connexions. For this reason, you would work the road with maxis road texture and maybe TE.

For glass canopes, you have to switch on sky to see how it looks.

    Project looks promising

    The Floraler

This is the end, hold your breath and count to ten, feel the earth move, and then...

If you liked those Apple monitors you should take a look at the Dell u3011. It has an even higher resolution at 2560x1600 (twice the resolution of a 1080p monitor). It's also a H-IPS display rather than TN, so it has amazing color accuracy. It covers 99% of the Adobe color space when TN monitors average about 40%.

Also, I recommend not going the laptop route, but rather simply upgrading what you already have. You could spend $3000 on a desktop and get the same performance as that $10K laptop, and have the option of upgrading again in the future. Also, professional graphics cards are great for rendering view ports and with iray, but unless SimFox pulls off a miracle, we're still using vray rendering which only utilizes the cpu. Plus pro gpus generally terrible at playing any video game from the past 4 years since they have drivers optimized for professional applications.
