CONCRETE REPLACEMENT *or* ADDON MOD (similar to sam)

cincocirclelm6.jpg

heres my idea,

okay so all of you have built a big city, yes? well, eventually you need suburbs for that 'big city' to grow even more, and for me, i have MANY suburbs, and asphalt EVERYTHING in ALL of my cities is not realistic, at all. The default maxis street is worn asphalt, not concrete, the maxis highway is concrete, but the avenue, road, and one-way road is not..

so, one of you geniuses should texture our roads! not the ashy one; white-ish grey concrete thats new and very realistic ;)

^i think that describes why it would be beneficial; REALISM! :D

SMALL CELL TOWER

Telstra_Mobile_Phone_Tower.jpg

Description: A small functional pole mast cell repeater antenna without guy wires for like this one for use in low to medium density areas.

Why this would be beneficial: There was a tower of this type on the EA's exchange site that was similar in nature but over proportion in height and size. This addition would definitely create a more realistic looking communication infrastructure in any city.

Chicago Bungalows

What: The famous Bungalow Homes common all across Chicago and in the more urban suburbs.

bungalow5.jpg

ar128863511522904.jpg

Why: there is a lack of really urban housing in the game for low-density and these would help to fill that gap. Also they are historic looking to give some character to drab cities.

Luxor Hotel and Casino

Sample photos

luxorh.jpg

And also Check this out. The pyramid is reflective in the day Luxor in the day

Description:

Luxor is a hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. At night, a bright spot light shines into the sky. Luxor has become one of the most iconic figures of Vegas. The strip is incomplete without it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxor_Las_Vegas

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

Luxor is not only an iconic landmark, but for those who would like to add something new to their city, I think this would be great! There was an attempt to make something similiar to it earlier on, but it did not come out well. I can't imagine the amazement a viewer would feel when they look at a journal entry and see a great recreation of this pyramid at night. I'd like to thank anyone who has read this and looked into it in advance. Check it out! :read:

I will modify and pacakage up for release shortly.

860–880 or 900-910 Lake Shore Drive Apartments

These are the iconic minimal modernistic lakeside apartment towers designed by Mies Van der Rohe.

Full disclosure: I also happen to live in the 900 building and am having a hell of a time gmaxing these bastards out.

They are very significant pieces of architecture though.

I'm a huge fan of Donald Duck, so I was wondering if anybody could do this (technically not as complicated) request for me:

The_Money_bin.jpg

That is Scrooge McDuck's Money Bin, the single most famous land mark in Duckburg, and quite recognisable as a piece of brutalist architecture. There has even been made studies on it in architectural magazines. I've even met a guy who made a scale model that toured the Internet some years ago.

I know there is a money bin on the STEX already, but that one is based on the style of the Italian cartoonists, which heavily influenced the DuckTales TV series. Also, it totally lacks the most dominant feature of the bin: Killmotor Hill. I'm looking for a model of the bin in the style of comic titans Carl Barks, Don Rosa and Marco Rota, including the hill on which it is built:

Killmotor.jpg

Please note that according to the Barksian-Donrosian timeline, a lot of the Duckburg valley was later filled in to get a more solid basis for the modern city, so the hill as of "today" only goes from the fence up. In other words, about a third smaller than shown on the picture.

My guess is that the bin itself would be a 3x3 lot. The bin is 40 by 40 by 40 metres in size with straight edges, and has a giant coin directly over the main entrance. The symbol on this coin is changed varying with the translation of the comic (in Norwegian it says KR), so I guess the SimCityan version would have to have an § on the coin.

The only windows are on the top floor, which also serves as mr McDuck's residence. The entrance doors are typically depicted as green, ordinary office doors (the blast door, consisting of a Gearloosium-Impossibilium alloy, is further into the corridor, and not visible from the outside).

As for Killmotor hill, it would probably be a 7x7 lot, with the bin in the center. The hill itself looks like it's about 30 metres tall. It is not fenced off, but there are signs telling people to go in another direction, and a not-so-subtle mine field warns bypassers that Scrooge is serious. Despite frequent events triggering these mines, the hill is almost always portrayed as covered in lush grass.

Then on to the effects of the lot in SimCity:

- First and foremost, it would spark a mahoosive demand for commercial zones. In Barksian canon, the bin contains so much money that releasing it out to the market would crash the economy. The vast McDuck empire, in one instance said to controls more than eight thousand oil fields and a five-digit number of hotels, among literally everything else, is controlled from here. Scrooge personally owns 95% of the buildings in Duckburg. Before he arrived with his first billion (in gold coins), the city was only a dozen buildings along a dirt track. Needless to say, it would affect the economy drastically.

- When tax is collected from Killmotor Hill, city officials have to hire a two-digit number of freight trucks. Though in recent times, the majority of the tax is usually collected from elsewhere, bags of money are still carried out of the bin by the tax collector every year. However, Scrooge is very, very careful with his money, so the amount probably doesn't add up to much. Regardless, the bin would have to provide some income to the city.

- Last, but not least, it would be a crime magnet of epic proportions. Local crime would soar as every little pickpocket in the city would like to have his try at cracking the reinforced concrete walls. A familiar trio clad in red and blue regularly pays Killmotor Hill a visit, as does a certain Italian witch. International criminals also move to Duckburg to test their wits against the wealthy Scotsduck. Even though most of these attempts end badly for the perpetrators, city-wide crime levels would have to go up with the bin in it.

Again, if anybody would be willing to do this, I'd be very happy. Thanks in advance!

Could anyone possibly make a outdoor warning siren for Sim City 4? Unfortunately, The Planning Pages is defunct, and I cannot download the file(s) that were on there. I would appreciate it if another siren is made for SC4.

Could someone make a siren that looks like this?

I have made one similar a while back, you may have skipped it :) It works, it sounds the siren when you query it.

Thank you!

If you could make it two lots, one 3x3 with only the bin, and one 7x7 (or 9x9, whatever seems to fit) with the bin on the hill, I'd be very happy. Thank you lots again!

Lambeau Field History and Pictures

Why this would be beneficial for game and community

Lambeau Field is an iconic, crown jewel of American sport venues. It would give the SimCity community a greater variety of sport venues.

Frost Bank Tower

317px-FrostTower-Feb2009.JPG

Aerial view.

Description

The Frost Bank Tower is located in downtown Austin and is the third tallest building in Austin's skyline. It was the first major high-rise in America to be constructed after the 9/11 attacks. It is currently an iconic building in the Austin skyline.

Link to Wikipedia article.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community

The building has a sense of uniqueness and a neat special tint on the windows (blue low-e glass skin). I think Sim Citiers would find it more interesting than some average rectangular office building. It'd pose an interesting challenge for any BATers who want to attempt to design it. Plus, any other Austinites on here would appreciate it.

Yes, I see, but that building, first and foremost, is based on the "cartoonized" version of the bin, mostly featured in Italian comics. The original bin was a perfect cube without a dome, and most notably sits on a giant hill looming over Duckburg. And even for being the "twisted version", this bin isn't proportionally correct either. There's a slight concavity to the Italian bin as well, which also is painted blue.

Thanks again to Harishna for picking up the request to do this. It will be most awesome.

Federation Square - Melbourne

Description

Fed Square is an iconic part of Melbourne. It is home to the SBS and Ian Potter centres.

Why it would be beneficial for the game

It is an interesting building that would add to any city and it acts as a landmark. It is modern and would be a sort of experiment for BATters with it's interesting angles and exterior design

If anyone decides to take it up, please send me a message :thumb:

The WACA - Perth (Western Australian Cricket Association Ground)

gallerywaca2-600x400.jpg

Description

The WACA is the main Cricket Ground in Western Australia located in Perth. That was a picture of the proposed redevelopment - it would be better to have this - but a lot of the ground in it's current state is still great.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WACA_Ground

Why it would be beneficial to the game

It would be beneficial because there is only one cricket ground on the STEX - compared to hundreds of Gridiron or Soccer grounds, it would increase the variety of lots.

If anyone decides to take it out drop me a message :thumb:

The Melbourne Cricket Ground - Melbourne

melbourne-cricket-ground.jpg

Description

The Melbourne Cricket Ground is the 'spiritual home of Australian Sport'. It hosts the AFL Grand Final and Boxing Day Tests yearly which both attract crowds in excess of 90 000 people. It also was the main ground for the Commonwealth Games in 2006. It can be lotted either as an AFL or cricket ground - it would just be great to have it available.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melbourne_Cricket_Ground

Why it would be beneficial for the game

Because it would increase variety in the STEX - there is one AFL ground and one cricket ground compared to probably hundreds of other codes. It would also be useful is one was to make a semi realistic Melbourne city on SC4

If anyone decides to give it a go message me :thumb:

Etihad Stadium - Melbourne

images.jpg

Description

Etihad Stadium is the home of Channel 7 in Melbourne - and it hosts AFL and Soccer Games. It has a retractable roof, three tiers and seats about 60 000. It is notorious for having and excellent view wherever you are seated. I have no idea if you can do a lot that retracts if roof (hence why I am asking for these, not doing them myself) during the day, but that would be freakin' awesome! If you can't that's alright.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docklands_Stadium

Why it would be beneficial

Again, it would increase variety and add to any city. It would also be useful if someone was trying to recreate Melbourne. There are very few AFL stadiums currently on the STEX.

If anyone decides to try it, message me please :thumb:

United States Bullion Depository (“Fort Knox”)

imt2.jpg

Goldvault_nyc.jpg

Description:

The United States Bullion Depository, commonly known as ‘Fort Knox’, officially holds over one hundred and forty million troy ounces of gold on behalf of U.S Treasury Department. The estimated current value of the deposit on the open market exceeds two hundred billion U.S dollars. It is the second-largest deposit of gold bullion in the United States.

For obvious reasons, security was a high priority in the design of this facility. Below the fortress-like structures lies the gold vault lined with granite walls and protected by a blast-door weighing 22 tons. Few technical details about its security features are known to the public. Its security is overseen by the United States Mint Police, as well as U.S Army units garrisoned nearby.

Links to informational websites

http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/fort-knox-u-s-bullion-depository/view/?service=2 <- Google Maps View

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

-It is an well-known landmark of economic and historical importance.

-Ever wondered how the Simoleon cost of buildings/upkeep remain constant over decades, oblivious to inflation? Obviously the Simoleon currency is backed (at least a partially) with gold reserves.

-Other BATers have made Reserve Bank buildings and Mints, its only fitting that a facility exists to store the reserves in a secure environment.

-The building should not be technically difficult to replicate in BAT, even if close-up photographs are difficult to find.

-As a landmark, it should have a tourism-boosting effect.

I am requesting a few things. I hope this is not too much to ask for, but ideas come to thought.

First off, can somebody make a traffic light BAT that could have these?

DSC_4248.jpgDSC_4286.jpg

Next, to add realism to my city, I think a few neighborhoods could possibly have an unfixed area or too.

thin_sidewalk.jpg

a high rise that could be useful around downtown.

http://g.co/maps/s9uvh

And lastly, since my city I am working on has industrial and tornadoes, I thought it would be cool to have these civil defense sirens too. Yes, I know there are a few files on here, but I need more variety like these sirens pictured:

I would love to see this building in Sim City 4.

Why its beneficial:

Well I am attempting to recreate Greenville, South Carolina in Sim City 4. So far, I have managed to use BAT's from Simtropolis and the stock buildings in the game to recreate most of downtown. I really think it is an intresting building, and would be a nice addition.

Hello everybody, i'm addressing an issue that i'm sure bothers many non-US users in Simtropolis, like me:

It's quite hard to find BATs for buildings not from US/EU regions, unless you wish to plunge into google and many other SimCityExchanges available on the internet.

So I thought of suggesting some new options for all BATers over here.

I myself am not a BATer, (I consider to begin with it if I had some time) but thought of attaching some pictures of buildings

from my country that could fit into many city building concepts. (both US-type cities and EU)

So I start with two nice styles:

1. Bauhaus style / International style, Tel Aviv, Israel

This building style has emerged in Israel between the 1930s-1950s. Predominantly seen in the historic center of Tel Aviv.

Over 4,000 building from that style were built, granting the area an UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

Zina.jpg

White_building_in_ben_yehuda_st.jpg

House_in_piness_street.jpg

During the last two decades, many of those were restored and preserved.

Here's a link to who's interested: Tel-Aviv White City

2. New Israeli suburbia

Since the 1990s, many new neighborhoods were built around Tel Aviv in order to fill the demand. Unlike most of the world, towers are the dominant building style,

even though houses built alongside them.

Lack of space (check google maps to understand) lead to many templated tenements that middle-class people love.

Oryehuda002.jpg

HPIM5317.JPG

%D7%A7%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%AA%20%D7%94%D7%A1%D7%91%D7%99%D7%95%D7%A0%D7%99%D7%9D.jpg

Many more Israeli architechture is up ahead. I'll post more styles according to your replies.

Now Google is underway to operate Street View in most patrs of the country, so soon it will be available to anybody...

Thanks for viewing and maybe even repling me.

Guy
