  1. I've opened an IRC chat room on AccessIRC server dedicated to discussing SimCity 2013 modding topics that are not allowed to be discussed here on the Simtropolis forums due to DRM restrictions. I am *NOT* advocating ANYTHING illegal!!!!! It is simply a place to discuss modding topics that we can not discuss here, such as citybox size, server side files, etc.. It is on AccessIRC server Channel: #SimCityModding I am looking for some ops/moderators. Join and message if interested.

Ok, if changing the city box size is illegal because of DRM, than I'm pretty sure there are some SimCity 2013 mods on the site that are illegal. :| I know the site can not endorse anything illegal, I understand that from a legal standpoint. So -- that being said, someone should make an IRC chat room or something, that can handle discussion about such things. That way we can make progress in modding this game. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT promoting anyone to do anything illegal, all I am saying is, it would be nice to have a place where we can at least talk about it. I remember when GTA IV was released on PC, there was a small debate on modding, the game wouldn't launch if it detected modded files. Now it's not even a problem, and because modders ignored the warnings, they made big leaps in advancing modding for that game. EDIT: Room open - AccessIRC: #SimCityModding Free to talk about anything there -- looking for moderators too... Yeah...

  4. Yeah I will, I am working on it still when I have free time in between my job. I am making some progress, I will start posting some screenshots in a few days. Right now I just have the base of the ground with a snow texture. I am playing around with buildings. I will replace all of the grass and ground textures with snow, and the road textures with a snowy-road texture. Again right now all I have is the grass done for the most part. Once I get the rest of the ground & roads done, I will release a beta. Now, I am wondering though, is the it possible to change the texture of the water? I want to make the water in the game (river & ocean) look a little colder & darker blue. If anyone knows where to find this texture please let me know.
  5. I recently downloaded ENBInjector to try and boost my graphics playing Dead Space 2, and I decided to test it out with Sim City. So I installed it into my SimCity directory, set the ini to the process SimCity.exe and launched the game. Well, it works a bit! It is supposed to enable things like SSAO with indirect lighting, bloom and other features. Now, I took a few before and after pictures myself, and I only noticed small changes. And with indirect lighting enabled it lags. Sim City doesn't need that anyway.   8. I'm trying to work on this mod in between my job and doing my stuff at home. It's hard because I need to track down all the ground textures, photoshop them into snow textures, and replace them. I am working on it though.
  9. I started a region in sandbox the other day, I made 2 cities, closed the game. This morning, I started the game, claimed a new city box, and when I opened the city... It was not sandbox! What happened?? Now I can't cheat in the one specific city. All the rest of them are sandbox. Has anyone else had this problem?

  11. OK, if you could add any TWO cheats to SimCity 2013, what would it be? Let everyone know what your two dream cheats would be for SC2013. I am anxious to hear what everyone has to say. I would add a 'Add $5,000,000 to City Budget' cheat, and the command would be ALT+B* My second cheat would be 'Quick $$ & $$$ growth', it would make the bigger and better buildings grow very quickly after starting your city, and the command for this one would be ALT+G* * I would replace whatever uses these commands in game with my new cheats.
  12. I am just wondering, when you start a new region, open a city, and enable a bunch of cheats, do the cheats stay on after you close & reopen the game? I mean, if you re-open your region with the cheats enabled. I have a lot of problems with the cheats, sometimes when I open it and do the fire one, it's already on and ends up turning the cheat off. Yes, I am playing in sandbox mode.. ( Just don't want anyone to have to ask me that. ) And then sometimes, certain cheats wont even work. It's just the command for them just wont work, or the cheat just won't enable, for example: Sometimes I will try to turn on the 'Toggle Fire' cheat, and when I press ALT+F, nothing.. so I press it a few more times, still nothing. Then I will do the 'Toggle Air Pollution' cheat, I will press ALT+A and it will work. o_O The ONLY cheat I never have problems with (being my favorite cheat), is 'Add $100,000 to City Budget' .. I love pressing 'ALT+W' I just wish they had a 'Add $1,000,000 to City Budget' cheat . Oh well, a man can wish, right? Does anyone else have this strange mind-of-their-own cheat problem?

    I agree, updates would be nearly impossible on 56k... I found this website, it is a estimated download time calculator. I put in 900 mb for 56k and it came out to 37 hours 26 minutes and 55 seconds. http://www.calculatorcat.com/free_calculators/download_speed_calculator.phtml Give that website a try, you can see how long it will take to update SimCity on 56k.

    $25 per month? 2 Mbps down & 2 Mbps up? I'm not entirely sure... It does seem a bit expensive, as I know Comcast offers a package of 2mbps internet + basic cable + tax for 12 months for $25 per month. So if it's just internet it does seem a little, maybe just a little bit expensive. But if its affordable for you, go for it.
