I'll check that out, though my problem isn't demand, since I have plenty of it, but that houses won't grow, at least on the larger tiles...I have placed nearly all rewards despite trying to not have a metro area with 3 major league baseball stadiums or zoos (though zoos are easier to hide).  My demand is off the chart for all residential...i need more people just to fill the jobs in industry and commercial because right now my region actually has more jobs than residents, but when I zone res in my large tiles they take forever to decide to grow!

I love that you have large areas of untouched forest and that long winding creek looks great. Not to mention the rows and rows of houses. It looks like a real town from the air. Nice to see that you've put a lot of thought into plopping just the right buildings in just the right spots too. Fantastic!

    UPDATE 12 - Interchanges

Another month, but I went crazy building custom interchanges!!!  Here are pictures of three such interchanges.  Ignore the mile markers on the fifth picture, I've rerouted the highways and IR-385 no longer exists...

    Interchanges Map

Construction of IR 260, FH 48, FH 15 Interchange

    IR 260, FH 15, FH 48 Interchange

IR 260, FH 15, FH 48 Interchange Construction

IR 260, FH 15, FH 48 Interchange Construction

Completed interchange, and yes, a little messy with outdated milage signs!

IR 260, FH 15, FH 48 Interchange Complete

Concord Interchange (IR 260, IR 85)

IR 260, IR 85 Interchange (Concord Interchange)

Riverside Interchange (IR 60, FH 48, FH 148, STH 75)

IR 60, FH 48, STH 75, FH 148 Interchange (Riverside Interchange)

Hope you enjoyed this tidbit of roadgeekery, I am pleased for the most part with my interchanges and continue to get better with each successive creation!  Thanks for being patient, once again.  I was ready to update nearly two-three weeks ago, but our internet was out!!!  But the wait let me really get some great stuff done and routes planned!  Stay tune for more Sessquenna!

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I was out of town... looks great with the interchanges. They look complicated yet hopefully serve traffic needs well. I find your use of tunnels interesting as It's the only way you can have three levels of ramps at the same place. I also like the new shields you're using for interstates.

    *Interchanges?  (Takes the bait.)

I gotta say, thats some nice work!  Although some spots are a tad crazy, it really looks realistic!  I haven't been here since December 2007!

I would suggest converting your one-ways to RHW.  It will improve both the look and functionality of the network (higher speeds and capacity).  Other than that, nice work!

Check out the Show Us Your Interchanges Thread sometime if you need further examples.  There is a link to it in my signature.

    Best,

Just looked through your CJ. You have created a very nice From Farmland-To Metropolis city here 4.gif, your cities are built in a way that they are very realistic in transportation and appearance. Keep it up! Cant wait for more 4.gif

Sorry updates have been few and far between, school is winding down so very busy, then band tour until May 20.  I'll try to get an update in before I take off on tour, but that will also depend on my work schedule.  I can't wait to update!  I'll respond to replies soon, too, I'm hungry so I'm going to wrap it up and eat.  Thanks for stopping by and checking out my humble city journal.

Hey, don't worry, the update is beautiful and everyone has his/ her RL matters, don't rush!

As far as residential demand is concerned: taxes?

    ordinaces?

    maybe super demand mod?

specific groups or res. in total?

Anyways, the interchanges look great (working w/ what we have, this should be part of the next NAM, due for ??? October??? maybe lol), I have the same one weirds in my CJ, and they are soooooooo time consuming!

    Looking forward to more,

    take care,

School is over for the summer!!!  Band tour starts this Sunday, but I hope to put an update up before I leave.

I had some thoughts of disbanding this city, why does that always happen, but I decided to stick with it and I really still happy with the way this city is developing... I'm going to try to not start a new region until CitiesXL comes out and I start playing with that!  So thanks for sticking with it, hopefully I keep good updates coming...

As you can already see, I haven't updated yet!  Band tour snuck up on me and I've never been anywhere with internet for long, but I have be flying over and driving through great southwestern U.S. cities like Phoenix, LA, and San Diego and getting fresh ideas about street signs, city beautification and layout, that I just haven't ever had before spending most of my life in the midwest.  I will definitely try to update sometime this week when I get home...thanks for stopping by!

Ugh, sorry again for lying and not updating...I've built up a pretty sweet semi-suburban area south of Sessquenna...Concord and Sessquenna have developed into each and it is really nice with a great high school complex and all.

I've been playing a modded version of EA Sport's MVP Baseball 2005...MVP 2007!!!  It is a million times better than the original game, just like SimCity is now a million times better with Simtropolis...and soon Madden will be better with modding, since those dirty EA guys have stopped making that for PC too!!!  Enough ranting...I will try to pull myself away from baseball and create an update this week...I REALLY WANT to...I feel terrible for not showing the wonderful progress...

Also a question regarding this new development area.  In the city square (4km X 4km), the demand is 100% for everything, res, com, and ind...none of the other city squares have this kind of great rampant demand and growth, what's up with that???  How can I get this for more of my squares...Note, I was like this before adding anything other than I-85 and I-260 and the small village of Concord...

    See you soon in Concord!

UPDATE 13 - City of Concord Grows

This is the aforementioned city tile with the rampant demand, and it is really fun to build when everything just grows!  I've included many more trees in the neighborhoods to show the shift from Sessquenna to Concord...also a wealthier part of town on the west side of I-85.

Wow, as long as it seemed to wait for this update (I understand, I myself have been really busy lately), you didn't disappoint. I like the perspective you gave from when Concord was 'out in the boonies' to now being all but swallowed by suburbia. I like how the small, quaint downtown is paradoxical to all of the residential areas and surburbian growth.
