Welcome to page 11....

I don't think you can have at-grade intersections with the 6-lane rhw anyhow, though you had a cretive solution. I'm looking forward to when the 3-lane OWR's come out.

Hopefully a new update soon?

I really like your work, not only very lifelike but also good looking!

Some of the setups are very "real" for instance those  4 buildings surrounding a parking lot at the intersection of E94st and N Union Blvd are the almost exact replica of something I saw in Boston, the only difference was a Burger King in the middle of the parking lot.

Keep it up!

Alright, I am done with all my big school projects and now have time to play SIMCITY again! The only issue is I need a good picture editor to replace Microsoft PictureIt! Any help on that front would be great. Really haven't figured out how to use Gimp, yet. Also have to find some new great stuff on the STEX to add to Sessquenna to spruce up some areas. Update as soon as I can get a good picture editor working.

hmmm...have you tried Paint.Net? its somewhat easier than gimp, but lacks a lot of features of photoshop or gimp. cant wait for your next update! xD

Well I found some CDs I had lost, maybe I'll be able to find the CDs necessary to install PictureIt! since I don't have a good idea how to use GIMP, etc, blah....

I've begun running XP on a virtual machine so I can install Picture It!...since I couldn't do that on Vista...now I just need to get the whole network file sharing between the two computers to work and then I can do updates again.

Hey guys. This is still going. I've just been transitioning into summer, a girlfriend, and work, and I also need to get Picture It! back up and running so I can edit my updates. I've been working on the region a little too, so it is only a matter of time.

Wow, the summer is almost gone and I haven't done anything with Sessquenna. I need to get Picture It running on my XP laptop and then I'll be able to update here. I don't know how soon. I was taking summer college courses and I still have a major paper to write, but it looks like I'll soon have some extra time to play SimCity before school starts again. I have a lot of stuff to show before I even have to do anything in SimCity, haha. Wow, I miss the SimCity community!

I finally got Windows XP installed on my laptop, so I can use my picture editing program (Picture It!).  I picked up SimCity yesterday and finished three tiles of farm land.  I have until August 31, to really play SimCity and update, then back to school. I am hoping I can put up at least four updates before then, if not more.  Keep your eyes open for an update within the next few days.  First time in six months! WOW!

Sessquenna Update 20 - Satellite and Transportation Views

Well it has been six months since my last update.  Sorry about that, I have been really bummed out about not being able to update, too!  I've added a lot since the last update, so this update is really just going to be regionwide shots.  I would like you guys to tell me what you would like to see and I'll go down and take some pictures (after sprucing up if need be) what you guys would like to see.  I am also in the process of creating a region map complete with street names and highway designations, mostly for my own records, but eventually I'd like to get it up for you guys.  Of course the summer is winding down, but if you guys give me some ideas of what you would like to see, I can probably get at the VERY least three more updates up before school starts back up, but I would like to do more.

These three pictures are all linked to larger versions (NOTE: the first two are over 2MB.)

    Sessquenna County Transportation View

    Overhead (True Satellite View)

Hope you enjoyed that little update.  Tell me what you'd like to see!  Meanwhile I'll keep working on the region and on some maps 44.gif

Great region view! I really did enjoy it and look forward to see some closer shots!

Wow, those region shots are amazing. I wouldn't mind seeing some close up of some of the interchanges as they look awesome from the region view.

Sessquenna Update 21 - City of Washington

I just needed to get something up, so here are a few pictures from the City of Washington just a few miles northeast of Sessquenna on STH 36.  Included is a street map with all street names.  My mapping project is going along nicely and I'm creating a nice regionwide street map that I will put up as soon as a good section of it is done.

Washington fair grounds and northwest farms.

    City of Washington

    Northeast farms of Washington.

    City of Washington map.

Hope you enjoyed that little update.  dfnva requested some closeups of the interchanges along IR-260, so the next update will probably feature those.  Until then I'll keep working on the map 44.gif

Great update and realistic rural small town. Particularily enjoyable was the street map. Do all roads that are not signed as state or federal highways count as county routes. I only see a CR-E mentioned. Here in Virginia, every street not in an incorporated city has a route number. Hence why there's a SR-10500 in Fairfax County. I find it interesting how you name the rural roads, such as E. 73rd St. and E. 80th Street. I noticed that is how streets are named in South Dakota, though they also have an unrelated county route number too.

This is my first type seeing this CJ (not sure why). I really like the work you have done and I must say that you have the best region shot I have ever seen. I just spent about 10 minutes studying your region shots. They are simply amazing.

    Comment Responses

Nardo69: Thanks.  Yeah, really got the SimCity itch again and finally got my picture editing set up so I could actually update and show you guys my work.

Djohaal: Thanks for checking out the journal.  I believe this is your first post in my journal?  Yep, I hope the journal stays alive and kicking!

dfnva: Next update will feature those interchanges and corresponding signs 4.gif  Here in Wisconsin only certain roads are designated as County Hwys...the rest are just country roads with names.  As for the E 73rd and E  80th designations, those are there because Washington is nearly within the metro Sessquenna.  As you'll see when I get some further outlying maps the country roads just have names...such as Arlington Rd.

MCO1254: Glad to have a new fan!  Thanks for the compliment on the region shot, though I must say there are quite a few great region shots out there, but glad you think mine is the best you've seen! 4.gif

GreekMan: Thanks, will do.  As I near the 2nd Anniversary of this CJ, I notice the evolution of my skills and style in city building and it is painfully obvious in older parts of the city, which makes it kind of interesting.

Oh My God! <- Thats the best comment for your Journal.

I am new here and i am reading your topic from yesterday. Every Updates and many of comments and responses. Your work really inspired me, i am downloading and testing new items, i am new to SC4 (i used to play SC3, but 4 is very different) So i wont start Journal for now. But still i am trying to learn something from your works. And what is more i am trying to hount avery bit of info about good add-ons.

    Already got:

    Sound Walls

    SWAP Airports

    NAM

    Peg Seaports, and

Simmoleon Trees, i uses only friendly one (+10000/month) Because i always develope City, than demand drops averything starts to colopse. Still cant start playing on such big scale as you...

Because of experience in SC3000 i still play in one Tile instead of developing whole region, but thanx to your CJ i learned how things works in SC4.

    But enough about me:

I love your planning, and satelites View, If i would found that somewere else in the net i'd believe that it is real region. Your farms, and small cities look so realistic, and Your Huge MultiTiled Cities. Man! This is awesome, Another thing is Your placement of parks, and other green terrains. And your so called ROADGEEKERY! Great communication system.

I've got much to learn. And you... Keep up a good work!

Sessquenna Update 22 - Cedarburg Interchange

Here is the Cedarburg Interchange of IR-260 and IR-89, northwest of the City of Cedarburg.  It is only one of six interchanges on IR-260.  The next one is four to six miles northwest in Arbordale with IR-85.  Update 24 will probably show the Arbordale Interchange.  I am really enjoying filling in the entire region and then to go back develop and expand the cities of Sessquenna County.

One interchange at a time.  The next update will feature the City of Cedarburg itself. 44.gif
