I hope you do more of these freeway tours. I like the nice touch of the blue mileage marker with the shield on it. In Virginia more and more mileage markers like that have been going up except they're green. I've seen blue ones like that in places like PA, OH, and IN.

    RESPONSES

dfnva: Yes, there will be more freeway tours.  Do the ones in Virginia have the shield because I know that the old mileage signs with just the mileage on them are green, but in Wisconsin the new ones on the interstates are blue with the highway designation and mileage ever tenth of a mile.

bbfan02: Thanks.  I'm still doing the old style simcity freeways, not yet converted to using RHW and MIS, even though they look great.  I'm excited to be building a highway out of Sessquenna, really fun to build over and underpasses using the terraformer and the natural lay of the land.

gabry85: Thanks, the industrial areas are really taking shape, even better after I downloaded the Heavy Industrial Set from fukuda, i believe.

jacqulina: Thanks, yeah the freeways will really create a boom for development in other areas of the region, especially for another larger city up to the northwest along the Heidisueann River.

anarchy0029: Thanks, I am kinda bummed that my grid isn't set on a 1/2 mile spacing between through roads like in real life, but I set it up instead to take advantage of SimCity's city divisions, so I wouldn't have a road right along side a border...

Giligone: yeah, school bites, this past weekend sucked and I got NOTHING done, No SimCity, no schoolwork, just blew by.  Yes I'm a roadgeek!

Originally, when VDOT installed tenth-mile markers in the '90s they were just numbers on a green sign, but newer ones installed since about 2005 have shields on them, they look just like the ones you made but green.

Wow, 4 replies yesterday, I was just checking to see what's up here...Um, yeah, so I guess I'll have to come up with an update sometime, I'll see how my schedule looks, but if I'm not incredibly busy I'll shoot for getting an update up by this next weekend!!!  Seriously I should have done one during this Spring Break, but I instead worked and got a head start on some big school projects, but I'm going to play SimCity right now and start preparing an update 4.gif  Thanks for the demand!

    Sessquenna - UPDATE 11

Well it has been over a month, but here is an update.  This update will deal with Sessquenna Hills.

I'm really having fun developing Sessquenna Hills.  As you can see, the grid goes a little diagonal west of Sessquenna Hills.  It is still a work in progress, to set up some historical infrastructure, before expanding.

Thanks for hanging in there with me during this long "absence".  Help me out with requesting areas you'd like to see.  I'll try to address them in addition to new development.

Nice, glad to see an update from you.

I like the small town look and feel of Sessquenna Hills, enhanced by the use of the w2w smalltown buildings. I also like the bike paths that go through town. The only thing that looks out of place is the huge "Monkey" Wards, I'd just assume to replace that with more w2w buildings.

The region view is great, I like how (State?) Route 36 and Route 55 come diagonally out of Sesquenna, albeit at different angles which very realistic and probably hard to make, espeically with Route 55 as it goes seamlessly into the town of Delmore Creek. Route 27 appears to be a nice scenic drive.

It looks like you have some big interchanges where I-85 and I-385 diverge and where I-385 crosses US 15 and US 148. I'd be curious to see those.

LOL Wow that's a lot to write before going to work, but it was a great update.

    Keep up the good work!

    RESPONSES

Mike the Mayor: Thanks, yeah the region is heavily wooded like Nort America.

Kokopelli: Thanks, I strive for realism, not perfect, but I'm trying.

Twenty20: Thanks, I really wanted to put up a region view because it has been a while.

dfnva: Thanks, those "bike paths" are actually alleys, but I do need to put real bike paths in sometime!  I like the divergent highways leaving Sessquenna, realistic with old spoke wheel cities.  It is pretty fun to deal with the hilly terrain to create realistic road paths.  Yes the I-85, I-385 interchange is decent.  I sacked my personal interchange for the I-385, US-15 interchange and just went with the in-game one...kinda disappointed about that, it was a real interesting but incomplete interchange.

GreekMan: Thanks, your CJ is looking good as well!

On another look at your region map I see a lot of empty space on Rte. 55 going north out of town. I would recommend putting tons of commerical strip malls, etc., there and widening it to four lanes. Maybe you could have a big shopping mall where Rte. 55 crosses I-85. Just a suggestion, but definitely looking forward to more.

    RESPONSES

artoxb: Thanks, yeah it is finally starting to shape up.  I definitely need to fill  in with farms and work on the riverfront.

jacqulina: Thanks, I'm working on a big freeway interchange, hopefully it will look beautifully realistic...

    super_monkey: Thanks!

JanYpe: I always like the region views.

dfnva: Yeah, that big open area is the edge of a hill, so development will be slow, but I was planning eventually to build up a commercial area around STH-55 and I-85.

    *bump*

I really want to update, have so much, some new interchanges, new freeways, new development in the southern hills, but our wireless internet is out so I can't hook my laptop up to the net and update 15.gif  I should definitely start preparing the updates though, as they include a lot of planning pictures... 4.gif

    looking forward to more,

    take care,
