Well just trying to work out the color settings on my new computer...SimCity and in that case also pictures from SimCity look completely different on this new computer...and I'm just trying to find the right settings that I like. And I think I had a page-flip bug so, I replied again...but I'm going to spend some time playing SimCity and maybe throw an update up soon, though I have to remember to read my four books of assignments for next week for school...

Well I dropped at class at college, so I don't have to be constantly reading and writing...and have been spending about an hour or so a day playing simcity...just completed mileage marking IR-260 bypass and finished building IR-60...and now continuing to experiment with some things and developing the countryside around Sessquenna proper to prepare for expansion of the city into realistic countryside instead of just blank forest tiles. I think an update could be up around February 1...a nice round one month update, sounds good aye?

What do you guys use to edit your simcity pics? I used Microsoft Picture It! but I can't get it to install on my new Vista computer, and then I stupidly threw $30 away thinking I was paying for a download of Adobe Photoshop, when in reality I was just paying for a site to direct me to Adobe's site where I can download the full version for $1000...I am an idiot.

And I have to work for my brother tonight so I'm not going to be able to get an update up until later tonight probably early tomorrow morning...since I was fiddling with this problem...and I'll probably just take the pictures from SimCity dump them onto my laptop and edit them there...a pain but better than nothing since I have no decent editing software on my new computer 15.gif and I'm not spending another $1000 on photoshop...already spent $30 on a ripoff, #@!%*.

Sessquenna Update 19 - Delmore Creek and Barker Hills

It has been a month and I've been doing a number of things in my region, especially adding the countryside, but this update is of development of the transition between the countryside and the city around Barker Hills and Delmore Creek, though it is not complete, I wanted to put up some pics 4.gif

Great update!! I'd love to see a close up of the JCT of I-60 and I-85, it looks great from a distance. The suburban areas look great, particularily the sprawlish commercial areas along Rte. 144. That's a rather creative way to make a 6-lane highway rather than leaving it up to the imagination as I often do. Apparantly 3-lane OWR's are in development further lending credibility to this, but it will probably be quite some time before the next NAM comes out.

I love the Bobbo Target... too bad it's not on the Stex anymore...

As far as editing my SC pics, I do it in powerpoint... pasting the screenshot and using a bunch of graphics I have saved in Powerpoint to put on the pictures. Then one can save as a JPG.

O I HATE MY LIFE!!! I was working on a city today...and then my final save I accidentally bumped the sleep button on my keyboard #@%& and now a hole, so I had to go back to a backup (PHEW) version of the city, but all the work I put into that city today was lost, dammit

Ack, how common is the black hole. I had that happen last fall. Very frustrating and I have no idea what caused it.

Yeah, I've been playing in window mode and my saves get corrupted (as in the tile becomes blank, but not a black hole) when I go to another window during saving and exiting to region, but the black hole happened for me because I didn't just click outside of the window, I PUT THE COMPUTER IN SLEEP MODE on accident during the process, bah. All about backups!!! I redid my work, and some more, probably can get an update up, heck, maybe even tonight, who knows...but I have some stuff, but maybe I should work on some homework and then see how much time I have later.

I've been working on the riverside (bluffs and hills)...I also downloaded a slopefix so that when I use slope sidings they'll look right, but it really alters the terrain and exposes more rock 15.gif...so I've been covering that stuff with trees and grass, etc...blah, blah, blah...

whoa, I have bad reading skills, somehow when I first read your post Hawkeye9, I read "wow this cj really really sucks" haha...yeah, I just wasted a 1/2 to 1 hour working on a little project and the game exited out, dangit, i hate it when that happens, especially when I think I should SAVE now, but then I don't...why? no one knows...gah

No rush. Take your time. I was intending to update tonight, but ended up just posting a few teasers. This is all for fun so set your own pace. Those region pics are so realistic, really spot on. Nice work, packersfan.

yeah, it does seem like i rushing to meet a deadline when i'm update, self-imposed of course...and then I forget what I really wanted to show, haha, but I have some ideas...problem is my updates take so much preliminary work...but I really want to post an update at least once a month this semester if I have a little time available, and I'm excited to show off some river/bluff/hills development.

Damn dude, you have a great CJ here. If you're busy with class, don't sweat it. School is priority (although SimCity is far more enjoyable).

But back to your city... I love the layouts for your city. Your transportation networks are so creative, I really love them. I especially liked those three interchanges you featured in one of your updates a while back. Your region shot is pretty remarkable as well. Nice mix of urban, agriculture and forests. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for all the comments. I'll post more individual responses soon, just wanted to check in. I was thinking of trying to create some custom parking lot tiles but I'm not at all familiar with GMAX or BAT or Lot Editor or whatever face-icon-small-sad.gif , but that is for when I have time.

    RESPONSES TO THE FANS

GreekMan: Thanks, yes school first...I knocked out an eight page book review between the time I posted earlier tonight and now, so now only another eight page book review and a fifteen page paper due on April 6, and then no more homework, so SimCity updates!

ComputerGuy890100: Thanks.  By the way, that is a lot of numbers in you name, haha.

danielcote: I'm glad my neighborhoods are appealing.

selles: Thanks, it is always a great boost when someone first checks out the journal and likes it.  I love laying out the roads, though they don't always turn out perfect and I do have some areas of disappointment but too much integrated to really change them.  Thanks for adding me to your signature!

jacqulina: Will do.  I've been sneaking in some play time on SimCity, but I don't want to spend a large chunk of time right now getting an update done, since I still have two big papers to write and I just never feel good about that...even though I'll kill time doing stupid stuff like watching youtube or facebooking, ahhh!

Muck308: Curse those deadlines, haha, even when they are you're own they seem to be a pain.  Yeah, definitely for fun, which makes it hard to not update and do homework instead, haha, but the reward is rich after April 6th when I have no more homework for the school year!

Hawkeye9: Well I already responded to your post, but I'll put it here again for everyone's viewing pleasure.  Whoa, I have bad reading skills, somehow when I first read your post Hawkeye9, I read "wow this cj really really sucks" haha...yeah, I just wasted a 1/2 to 1 hour working on a little project and the game exited out, dangit, i hate it when that happens, especially when I think I should SAVE now, but then I don't...why? no one knows...gah

dfnva: The name of the game is save and backup...and now I save with the little disk button and then when I exit to region I say don't save...because that transition to the region screen scares me...

De Ja Vu: A dreamy region shot, haha.  Thanks, I like it sometimes and sometimes I'm more critical, good to know you like it!

dfnva: I see you want the Bobbo Target.  Picture editing with graphics from Powerpoint, interesting....I converted a little section on STH 144, it is an STH right, yep, to the six lane RHW but it didn't appeal to me for one reason or another...I'm not sure if I can put development on it...Though I could just put frontage roads if that it the case.

jacqulina: Thanks, I refer a lot to satellite views of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, etc for my countryside...and Cincinnati especially for my river and hill land since this is a Cincinnati map.

Twenty20: Thanks, the mosaics turned out wonderfully.

Thanks to any others I haven't personally responded to, thanks for checking out my city and your comments are welcome if you haven't yet dropped one but are just lurking, always nice to see new faces, eh er, avatars.

An update will be along for sure after April 6.  If I get my work done before then and have time there may be an update before that 49.gif10.gif
