what do ya think? its pretty compact, but its my first "kinda" big CBD or city for that matter, 320, 000 inhabbitants :D

I think it's kind of nice. Its compactness doesn't disturb me, and actually there are some parks and green areas, so it's not a mere concrete jungle. My only suggestion: You should place an airport at a city's border, not in its center. I don't know how other people think about this, but I for my part don't want to live next to an airport.

The Phoenix airport is right next to the downtown. It's kind of convenient. The airport is more or less the center of Phoenix metro.

I quick glance at Google maps shows that Phoenix is a mere 5km from the airport, but this is still a distance of 1-2 city tiles away.

Despite that, you've made the city look very nice and the airport works in the setting.

I probably have to point out that it wasn't me who made the city your are talking about. Regarding Phoenix, the distance from the airport to downtown is less than the length of the runways. Talking about Simcity 4 tiles neglects the distance compression factor of the game with regard to reality. Downtown Phoenix is maybe 20 buildings away from the runway. Downtown Tempe is slightly farther on the other side.

Anyway, my point was that having an airport as city center fits the current state of Phoenix metro. There are better examples for runways between skyscrapers than this.

My apologies :P

The tile compression is true. For example I find SC4 population to be greater than real life. How often do you find 8 or 9 people living in a double story detatched dwelling?

@Whte_rbt: Hey that looks really good man! The architecture style is very balanced, and that section to the bootom left was done really nicely in regards to the plazas. I feel like maybe this was stretched though?

Here's one from a looonnggg time ago lol :P

I dug up this city centre of mine xOMitte-28Okt491314205378.jpg

I'm not a skyscraper guy really x) I prefer medium rise buildings with high density x)

what's the cathedral north of the park? Looks great, not to mention, like the cities of Europe.

I have built this city a few months ago.

I hope you can see the CBD, it's so large that

it needs the space of two great tiles.

It's my version of Gotham City, I tried to make a more realistic

version of the city, but nevertheless, I decided to use many

Art-Deco-buildings and old skyscrapers to conserve the

images you can get in the movies by Tim Burton. post-424054-0-62241800-1388503111_thumb.

This is one of the CBDs (actually one of the 8 that I am currently working on. Well it is technically not a CBD but rather more of a city center. :D This is Shinkyo district, BTW. I wanted to model it after Baguio but I guess that would not be possible. Hahaha  :D

Happy New Year guys!

^^^  I second that notion Ion_Cannon. I saw that yesterday and thought the same thing just didn't say anything. That is one great looking city! Ultra realistic with tons of character. Excellent job on that Weixc812.

Here's a mid size, all-buildings-plopped city I'm working on. It's called Loriant, and is located in the middle of a valley in Tahoma. The fifty first state of the USA.

3u32.png

It's not meant to be a wonderful paradise city in the style most players of SC4 choose. I go for pure realism (or maybe dirty would be a better term). I want it to be gritty and somewhat unattractive. The industrial area to the east, for example, is downright repulsing.

cmhi.png

And that's what Lorient, TA looks like so far. I hope you like it.  :)

Charlotte City Centre. Featured are some of the beautiful Art-Deco style buildings constructed in the 1930's. Charlotte, the capitol city of Westria grew rapidly in the first half of the 20th century bolstered by a strong financial sector and the discovery of large fossil fuel reserves. Growth stagnated during the recession in the early 1930's but regained momentum following WWII. Today, the city remains a financial powerhouse, with aspirations to one day rival world leading cities such as Hong Kong, London, and New York.
