About This File

Pathed by Redlotus; modelled by Fosterk, Decius, DuskTrooper, and N74704.

A fully-functioning network-enabled plop allows the connection of railroad tracks at the top of the ramp descending down to a connection to the subway network at the bottom is now a possibility! Trains visually descend into the 'pit' thanks to Redlotus' pathing for the lot. (thanks!) I happened to have stumbled upon the fact that referencing non-existant base textures in the game results in a 'see-through' effect, just what was needed for this lot and its LODs to work 100% correctly.

Note: Like the Maxis network transition (el-train-to-subway), this lot has a minor 'bug' that is visual only. When plopping items around the lot, sometimes the ground texture of SC4 will 'cut through' the lot. The easiest way to fix it is to go into sub-terranean view then quickly return to surface view. It should look normal now.

Check out the thread "Train Mods" in Modding - Open Discussion forum, or alternatively search the STEX for Bigredfish. I think he/she has uploaded those train mods.

Awesome mod dude. This is one feature that was in SC2000 and I found it invaluable. I'm so glad you've come up with this.

I don't really care if there's huge demand; fact is, a Japanese guy has already done one (look in the thread Massively Gigantic Japanese BAT Gallery for a link; sorry I can't provide one offhand).

Furthermore, it's not a matter of track width or anything; it's the fact that the game treats the ground rail and the elevated rail as entirely different networks, each with their own models and pathing. Getting one train to drive on the other's tracks is impossible.

I think you should make "NDEX Rail-to-Elevated Transition" because Elevated and subway can be connected by the existing "Elevated-to-subway transition".

The first time I downloaded this, it just showed up as a gift box. I downloaded the 2nd version and it works just fine.

hmm... i dont understand how a regular train could go into a subway system. regular rail is just steel, but subway rails have electricity in them, dont they? and aren't the designs somewhat different?

gddan- san francisco uses combo subway/GLR trains, they have electrified rail pickups on the underside and a top-mounted wire pickup.
