How to configure SC4 to work with your new hardware
Slimdude replied to Morofry's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
All right. I've actually gotten it to run OK. This is what I did: This is what I wrote in the Graphics Rules.sgr stringMatch cardIdentity "Intel®*HD*Graphics*3000*" stringMatch cardIdentity "Intel*HD*Graphics*3000*" stringMatch cardIdentity "Intel®*HD*Graphics*Family*" stringMatch cardIdentity "Intel*HD*Graphics*Family*" stringMatch cardIdentity "Intel®*Grahpics*3000*" stringMatch cardIdentity "Intel*Graphics*3000*" stringMatch cardIdentity "Intel*Grahpics*Family*" stringMatch cardIdentity "Intel®*Graphics*Family*" This is what I wrote in the Video Cards.sgr card 0x0126 "Intel® HD Graphics 3000" card 0x0126 "Intel® HD Graphics Family" card 0x0126 "Intel HD Grahpics 3000" card 0x0126 "Intel HD Grahpics Family" card 0x0126 "Intel Graphics 3000" card 0x0126 "Intel Graphics Family" card 0x0126 "Intel® Graphics 3000" card 0x0126 "Intel® Graphics Family" As you can see, I went above and beyond to make sure I tried every combination in BOTH files. On average, I'm running at about 20 FPS. At best I'm at 30 FPS, at worst, 15 FPS. Also (and this may also be important) I did the Run as Administrator. That may have helped too. Where did you find the hex string for the 3000 chip? I've got an i5 3470 with the HD graphics 2500, but I can't seem to find the hex code to put into SC4's graphics rules. -
I managed to get the new NAM before SC4devotion went down, and all I can say is wow. I'm really loving the new puzzle pieces. I reinstalled SimCity4 after a really long hiatus and this is one of the first updates I downloaded for the game. It's ironic, but the fiasco surrounding the new SimCity actually got me fired up again. SC4 will always be one of my all-time favorite games, and so I just want to say "thank you" to the modding community for keeping this game alive. You guys are the best.

Hardware Vs. Software Rendering - Glitches when using Hardware
Slimdude replied to Gilley7997's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Yeah, I have the latest drivers for my card too, but it seems like the shadows in the game are causing the problems. With shadows off, the game is lag free and smooth as silk when scrolling. This is with hardware rendering enabled. But once the shadows are turned on, the lag returns, making the game unplayable on hardware. I was wondering if there was a shadow-related setting within the the graphics rules that could be altered to allow for smooth scrolling when they are set to "high", and when using hardware rendering. If not, then I guess software rendering is my only option. One more thing: In software mode, I'm noticing stuttering when the game transitions from day to night, and vice versa. Don't know what's causing that. -
Hardware Vs. Software Rendering - Glitches when using Hardware

I've been experiencing the same kind of problems with my graphics setup. I've got an NVidia GTX 260, and I've edited the graphics and video card rules, but the choppy scroll lag continues. I would really love to use the hardware renderer, so is there anything else I can do? Here are my system specs that are relevant to this topic: OS - Vista Home Premium x64 Memory - 4GB Corsair DDR2 1066 Vid Card - GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 SC4 Deluxe with all patches and updates -
Absolutely stunning! Thanks for the map Tim, and this prompts two questions: First, Did you use Photoshop to alter that in-game transport view? Second, If you did, how do you do it? This is the kind of picture I would love to have for my regions.
-
That is one beautiful region. Could you also post a transportation pic of the same area?
-
Jeronij, In your last reply to our posts, you stated to Sorchin that you might give us a mini-tutorial on how to make a terrain conforming bridge. I think that is an excellent idea, and may I encourage you to go through with it. I know I could use the hints. Thanks.
-
Well, I haven't posted in a while, but having seen the latest updates, I just wanted to say to the Master Terraformer, keep up the good work. Your pics are astounding. I especially love the harbors throughout this journal, so keep 'em coming. On a side note: I might have already stated this, but your English is improving, and I love your use of the emoticons when replying to our posts.

That woodland retreat has given me some ideas for one of my cities. Nice job Jeronij.
-
Well, it appears I was mistaken. Neither Klondike Delta nor Ocean Point have tables of content, but I know that there is a journal on this site that does have a nice one with clickable links to the individual pages. I just can't remember which one.
-
Jeronij, I think at this point in the life of your City Journal, a table of contents is probably a necessity and not an option. Given the size of this journal with all its updates and links to files, this is the probably the best solution. As far as the actual structure of the table itself, however, the only suggestion I would give is to take a look at some other city journals on this website, and see how the authors organize their table of contents. I think Klondike Delta and Ocean Point have such a table, but I'll have to double check.

Well, MTJeroni, I can see another great city on the horizon. As I've been following your journal, I've tried to glean some insight on transportation, and it's various layouts. This is something that plagues my cities, and I am still searching for a solution to the traffic problem. Even with the NAM installed and following Greyveil's tutorial, I am still finding it hard to maintain a consistent network. My biggest issue is inter-city transit. It's just not working for me. All this leads me to ask: How do you do it? Do you follow a specific pattern when starting your cities, or do you just put down whatever works? On the first page of this journal, you did present a layout that seems to be efficient, but do you always follow that pattern with every city? BTW: Your English is getting better, and if someone wanted to describe World War Two era buildings, the abbreviation would be WW2, or WWII (with the I's representing the Roman Numeral 2. Just thought I'd mention it.)

Date: 4/5/2005 12:14:20 AM Author: DragonAnime The train station in the Puente picture is a japanese lot, I am sure and the best thing to do would be to check out the Massivly Gigantic BAT gallery in BAT open Discussion..sorry I couldn't be of more help.. EDIT: never mind I found the link https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?mode=viewtopic&topicID=51212&num=30&pageNo=29 it's on this page, just look for it, I hope you find it. quote> Thanks DragonAnime. I found the picture of that train station using the link that you posted, but the link to the station itself was broken, so I couldn't download the file. Thanks anyway for your help.

And the Master Terraformer strikes again! Jeronij, you continue to impress. Those harbor pics are incredible, and in my opinion they are unmatched in the areas of stark realism and photographic quality. I have to confess that I have an affinity for harbors and seaports, so I must cast my vote for you to continue with Costa Tramuntana. BTW: Where can I get that train station in the PUENTE pic?
