The Hôtel Cail is not a hotel, as the name implies, but a so-called hôtel particulier, which can be roughly translated with city palace. It was built between 1865 and 1867. The architect was Albert (according to other sources Christian) Laboret. Principal and owner was the industrialist Jean-François Cail. The hôtel is located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris and has been functioning as its council couse (mairie) since 1926, after Cail's daughter had sold it to the city of Paris in 1922. In 1982, the classical-style building was listed as a historical monument.
The design of the building model is based on the original, but differs in a few points: The building depth has been reduced, and the yard facade, overly ornate in original, has been simplified as a free interpretation. After fulfilling the prerequisites, it can be built as a reward on a 2x2 lot.
