About This File
Casino, by Mattb325.

In real life, Casinos are often tacky, kitsch affairs. Certainly the most famous Casinos in Las Vegas are massive, over-the-top, fantastical creations that defy good sense and good taste.
Not all Casinos are the size of small cities and to that end I actually don't mind the Maxis Casino, but the way the game's creators modded it means that it certainly does attract a disproportionate level of crime and negativity when placed.
This Casino is a little different in that regard. The building is completely fictional and I tried to make it a little less offensive to surrounding areas when placed (both visually and in terms of its modding).
At nine stories high, it is designed to fit into a mid-rise city scape and I basically modeled it so I could use the blinking casino lights that maxis used because I rather like them :-).
Like most modern casinos, the gaming floors are at the base and a hotel with pool restaurant terrace, etc., occupy the upper 6 floors. It has dark, reflective glass to add to allure of being stuck inside within a smokey noisy environment designed to drain your cash...(!)
In addition to the usual Dark Nite and Maxis Nite configurations, the lot is offered in two different formats. You must choose only one.
1) A version with deciduous trees designed for temperate cities; OR
2) A version with palm trees designed for tropical cities.
Therefore, the download contains 4 options...choose whichever fits your style and night-time set up (as only one version can be used at any time).
I have modded both of the lots to be identical in terms of stats and additionally, placing my casino won't cause crime to go through the roof or your mayor rating to plummet.
It provides 410 civic jobs and boosts surrounding commercial demand.
However, this isn't a cheat lot and it has balanced stats such as discouraging high-wealth residential development within a 23 tile radius.
In terms of crime, within 16 tiles of the casino, the efficacy of police stations is slightly reduced which mimics the real world set up of elevated criminal activity in a house of gambling.
The crime effect examplar I have used does not increase overall crime rates, so you can place this building without it fearing terrible consequences. That said, even though the lot is high wealth, I would refrain from placing it in the middle of CO§§§, R§§§ or IHT areas as it will cause these areas to be less desirable (just like in real life).
I would also recommend placing one of my police stations (which have more effective modding that standard police stations) very close by.
So with those points in mind, the usage is aligned to real-life casinos. And, just like the Maxis casino it will provide your coffers with §250 per month. Kick-backs are an ugly thing.
It is a non-conditional reward that operates as a business deal and is found in the rewards menu. It doesn't over-write the in game casino and you can use my version and the maxis version if you wish.
Obviously enacting the no gambling ordinance negates the point of having this download.

NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE:
This download contains TWO model files; one is for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos or Mashty's night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite.
You must select and install only one file - depending on which night version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version.
In addition, you will also need to choose whether you want the tropical version with palm trees or the temperate version with deciduous trees.
If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/)
---------------------------------------
NOTE ABOUT PARKING TEXTURES:
The lots deliberately do not come with parking textures. The parking textures that appear in the in-game screen shots belong to adjacent lots and are not part of this download. In the temperate version screenshots I have used ploppable parking textures from KOSC's SuperSHK Parking packs. In the tropical version screenshots, I have used the SAM-1 street over-ride and some open grass/palm tree MMPs.
