About This File
This map was created with my personal tweaks to the Offline Planet Map Generator. After oodles of coding and re-coding I've managed to make the inverted seas idea work with my terraces subroutine in addition to the original generated land. It better combines my love of rolling hills terrain with pre-flattened terraces for ease of building. This upload has choices of four different region sizes of the same map:
- 3 x 3 large tiles
- 6 x 6 large tiles
- 9 x 9 large tiles
- 12 x 12 large tiles
The pictures above are:
- The 12 x 12 large tiles region view fully covered with Maxis trees created with the Region Census program
- The 12 x 12 large tiles region view showing the land itself created with the Region Census program
- Simulated satellite view from my CoriMap program using @Cyclone Boom's SimEarth colors
- Topographical view mimicking the in-game mini maps view
- A standard region view screen shot
- A city tile showing the terraces
- Same city tile fully treed
- Another city tile showing the terraces
- Same city tile fully treed
- Yet one more city tile showing the terraces
- Same city tile fully treed
- The 3 x 3 large tiles CB style satellite view
- The 3 x 3 large tiles Topo view
- The 6 x 6 large tiles CB style satellite view
- The 6 x 6 large tiles Topo view
- The 9 x 9 large tiles CB style satellite view
- The 9 x 9 large tiles Topo view
I use the Topo view for my initial major transportation network planning. (Feel free to view the pics full size, right click, and Save As for any of them you might want a copy of.) The in game pics are shown using the Columbus Terrain Mod 2 which I modified by setting MaxBeachWidth to 0x9 and MaxBeachAltitude to 9. I feel this defines the coast lines better. To use: Unzip whichever of the 4 map sizes you selected while in your Region folder of SimCity 4 in your Documents. Then simply render in game with Shift+Control+Alt+r from that region screen like any other grayscale import.
Note: Some Terrain Mods have altered the original Maxis settings for the total height, sea level, and import scale factor. If your render does not look like the above pictures, this will be why.
