About This File

Fancy a quick trip from Amsterdam or Koln to Paris - try this 300kph wonder. I know one day I will. Implemented as Passenger Rail replacement and/or HSR replacement

To revert just remove.

This january I had a nice railway trip accross Europe:

- London-Brussels - EuroStar

- Brussels-Koln - Thalys (from all of them this was best)

- Koln-Mannheim-Strassburg - ICE and TGV

- Zurich-Lugano/Lugano-Milano - Trenitalia

- Budapest-Wien/Wien-Salzburg/Salzburg-Munich - RailJet

(Milano-Budapest and Munich-London were flights, but the rest was by trains.) :)

So yepp, Thalys was the best experience, it was fast, comfortable, wifi on board... :)

Thanks for sharing this.

This looks fantastic - and I see it is running on the RRW reskin preview which I cannot wait to have!  (I am using the test/preview in my city now.)

I have a quick question:  in the photo it looks like the catenary poles are the fully-straight-pole type that appear on the HSR rather than the ones that curve inward at the tops - which I thought were the only ones available for the regular rail network.  Optical illusion in the pic or is there a way to get the straight poles on regular rail?

@JulianMIA Good news and bad news I'm afraid -

Bad: the track on this image was made just for the straight although I kept the colorways for reference. Its not very far from my preferred colour scheme

Good: In My Onedrive SC4Resources archive I've just put a file

201802 RUM for RRW - XCatenary.zip

which contains instructions and the HSL prop exemplars. I don't know if they're completely OK because it was a quick experiment from about a year ago that I never formalized. Took me a little while to find them again.

They use the default RRW catenary setup which, as you know, does have complete coverage.

Thanks Rivit!  So I tried it out - and good news and bad news...

The straight stretches of the regular rail look great but the poles on the viaduct, bridges, and the HSR line are now turned around. (I tried the install twice just to make sure).

I shared the photo because it is really one of the funnier things I have seen in the game ever - kind of like the old straight poles didn't like the new boys and decided to turn their back in protest... anyway it made me laugh out loud when I saw it. :whatevs:

Otherwise just to let you know where it looks like you were with the project - most of the puzzle pieces look pretty good although the curves need work.  Also there were a couple spots on the puzzles where one side was HSL and the other Betuwe.  But love it on the straight rail...

Right! - and indeed funny in the way you describe - explains why I stopped with the experiment - it's prompted me to remember that the textures had been rendered differently (90 deg out) on the HSL props - so the rotations come out wrong for some of the T21s (Network prop exemplars) used to make the poles show up. Also I think more than one person has contributed to the T21s so they're not all consistent either. How are your Prop and T21 exemplar editing skills? (rhetoric)

I hadn't even tried the HSR ones. I'll send you a PM after having had a deeper look and formed some plan for fixing it. Better to carry on the discussion there.

btw that's a good underlay for with MGB's reskin, and I like the custom HSR too.

Thanks, will look forward to your PM!  I feel catenary is really important to creating rail with a really modern look.

Also, the HSR isn't custom.  I thought it was coming from the 'dark texture by Vershner' option in the NAM  install - but I found I have some other plugin, also Vershner, dated 2008.  I do really like it, it flows right on the bridges and the puzzle pieces perfectly, I use HSR much more now because of this texture.  I just wish there were a few more puzzle pieces...!
