About This File

* IMPORTANT UPDATE : 08/MAY/2014

After further testing, this modification will not work alongside this mod : https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/29056-road-trench-raise-bridge-tunnel-mod-xoxide/

- If you run both these packages together, you will not see the smooth gradient on ramps to bridges that it delivers.

- This mod shares the same instance as XoXiDe's mod, and after changing TGI values on mine, the game will not recognise 3 amended instances.

- You have 2 options, either delete this mod and alter the values under XoXiDe's mod to match the same value.

- Or delete XoXiDe's mod and just use this one, as this shares the same values but only amends the bridges, though as full credit goes to him in the first place, I cannot recommend this option.

This mod changes the values on bridge construction,

normally when a bridge is built on a river or coast which is completely flat,

it won't let you proceed, or if it does it has a sudden jolt upwards, which just looks ugly and unrealistic.

Whilst building bridges between 2 elevated terrains would give a consistent gradient in the standard game.

A lot of cities have very flat coasts and rivers, especially the new desert regions, which makes bridge building rather difficult.

This should rectify that.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a beautiful gradient on-ramp, just like in the real world?

I did this by modifying some values and the result gives you just that. It's only a minor modification, but if your like me, and aesthetic infrastructure is important to you, then you'll like this.

This has been tested on dozens of cities, at times you have to draw from a further point back, but the end result is just beautiful.

Check out the pictures to see how your bridges can look with this mod.

As always extract the .package file into your SimcityData folder & It works with online & offline perfectly fine!

Many thanks to XoXiDe, he did all the hard work, I have just fine tuned the bridge tuning from his mod : Road ( Trench / Raise / Bridge / Tunnel ) Mod

What's New 2.0

Released

  • ** Deleted original file and replaced with new one which affects a varied instance ID as previous was invalid. Will now work as desired, alternatively you can edit xoxide 1.01 mod values to a similar value.

Thanks, am currently working on another mod to increase the area in which you can plant trees/forests, still working on the values

Ah, cool so this mod is built using Xoxide's mod? If so, it would be best to use either this or xoxide's mod as it may conflict and give nutty results, or crash.

Yeah I wasn't sure about it, no one could really give me a definite answer, as a lot of mods on here share the same instances as others, yet they never say use one or the other, they just work. And I don't really think it's fair to say; use mine over his, considering the effort that went into it.

Very cool looking!! How did you get the suspension bridges? I couldn't figure out how to make fancier bridges than just plain ugly ones.

When you click on a pre-existing bridge, you can upgrade them, the same way you upgrade a road, and different upgrades have different designs.

To get the ones in the picture, you have to have the Cities of Tomorrow Expansion Pack, and then place a water tower or futuristic building near the bridge, and it will auto change to that. :)

Oh, wow, thank you so much for this. That looks so beautiful and realistic. :)

Say, would you mind to lower the height measurements of overpasses and bridges to a more realistic height? In real life, overpasses are usually no higher than 4 to 5 meters, but in SimCity they have to be 10 meters high for it to proceed, which in some occasions can be tricky.

Hi there, any chance to build tunnels "under water"? I mean, when the land is on the same level of the water, it is impossible to buil tunnels. Any chance?

Thanks a lot

PS: Also, any chance to fix the bug of deleting streetcar-hihgways tunnels?

I've not experienced a bug with deleting streetcar avenue tunnels, besides I 'rarely' build streetcar lines on roads, I always as you can see in one of those pictures, build them on their own line, not on a road, but perhaps alongside a road, like you do a railroad. I've not noticed other players doing this, I feel like the only one. But if that is a bug you are having an issue with, perhaps try and build them like I do.

So to be clear, I should remove the xoxide mod and replace it with this?

I run mine alongside his, I have no issues, but if you do, you can try that, as it combines the same values, alternated with some modifications for this one.

I'll have a look into that today and see if it's possible. Will update when I can

Unnamed values are simply just that, a lot of the named values, are named as per modders identifying what they are through testing. Currently working on 3 separate mods at present so do not have time to review/test them.

What happened in the second pic? Did you press 'm' too often? :P

I think this happens only if the distance between start and end of the bridge is not far enough. Am i right?

Nice mod. Love it!
