Update: I found a useful thread regarding my question. It looks like there are several ways of going about this. It's a matter of finding which one would be suitable (whatever floats my boat).

Be advised that this mod completely removes the button's icon file, thus also affecting other UIs than the one intended. To fix this, I made an improvement to this mod :
