continued: 3) Maintenance for a small custom airport runs into the 1000's, 4) aircraft seems to take of from runway crossings, No landing / take off set for double runway - just runway end. Add-onn suggested: approach lights on grass, trancit ability and tarmac bridge :D

Runway light problems: some effective sollutions: 1) re-position your runway - landing end should point towards the end of the map, 2) build a custom island for your airport - the lights does not show on water tiles ;). If you want to see pictures, i'll gladly post pictures my airports.

continued: 3) if you have inland airport... create custom lakes / ponds at the end of your runways. Your planes will also have a beautiful approach ;) That's it for now. Joerg - thanks!! 10/10

Great idea! Why Maxis didn't an airport with a regional effect? We can't build an airport just in the map who seat the CBD...airports are situated in the suburbs and affect the entire area.

Man, this is like wow for one thing. You need to start your own compain, and make you own sim version for all us who are looking for some flavor in our cities. I have some questions though, airplanes don't seem to show up, neither does cargo, or cars in parking lot. Any suggestions?

The only drawback to do-it-urself airports is that it takes 4ever to figure out how to place everything. u HAVE 2 cheat 2 afford the build. But I love what you've done, I just hav 2 figure out the runway placemnt so I dn't hav lights running all ovr the rest of my city. Looks wonderful & works, too!
