Industry Doubler  2

About This File

This mod doubles the number of jobs provided by the in-game industry buildings. There are 4 files you can optionally install; they double the jobs for each industry category (farming, dirty, manufacturing, and high-tech). So, you don't have to double all the industry categories if you don't wish to do so; you can pick & choose.

I made this mod after trying out the industry-quadrupler mod on this site. I found that mod to be unbalanced, and in the "cheat" category, so I made an alternative mod to be more balanced with the rest of the game.

1. I only doubled the number of jobs, rather than quadrupled them. I found 4x was just too much.

2. I doubled the building tax values. This makes the income from industry to be the same as the default for the same number of jobs. This allows a "industry city" to be economically feasible, just as with the default game values.

3. I doubled the power and water requirements for the buildings. This means you have to spend the same amount of money to support a similar number of jobs as you would with the game default. (I found this balance to be lacking in the industry quadrupler.)

4. I doubled the pollution from each building. Again, this means that the same amount of jobs will produce the same amount of pollution as with the game's default. (Again, missing in the 4x mod.)

See the readme for installation details.

I like this idea, but it doesn't seem to be working for me. Do I have to bulldoze every industrial building in all of my cities before it starts working in new cities?

I agree with everything except for the pollution doubler. To me, the fault of pollution from industries was that it doesn't spread very far. In the real world, you need to be more than a few blocks away to not feel the effects! Otherwise, great work!

I like this variation better than the I quadrupler. It's much more balanced and much more realistic in its effects by doubling everything and not just the jobs values themselves. Kudos!

Hi The way I read the description leads me to believe this mod may only work with the maxis industry buildings. I was planning to block them and use all custom industry content as cities dont have 400 refineries or smelter plants. Would this not work in this scenario?

Fantastic, just what I was looking for. I too felt that the quadruple mod was a little too much. Doubling the jobs seems a bit more reasonable. Thankyou.

Sure it's okay, but due to a PC Hard drive error I no longer have 4x and quite frankly I prefer it to this. And I don't care about balance. Please just give 4x Multiplier back. =/

if this is something that would double the desire of industry, o well, if it "decreases" amount of desire, then thanks! i always found the desire annoyingly high!

great . i need it.. the quadrupler seem too exagerated and unrealistic.. i need this mod because my city has huge areas of industry, (640.000 population), but still there is a huge demand of industrial jobs... this mod will hopefully give my city more realism...

I agree with all of the comments I plus'd: More workers/jobs/taxes ≠ more pollution! Come on Bones1, please make a new mod without the POLLUTE × 2 part! >.<

My rating: 2 out of 5

Awesome :thumb:
The quadrupler was serious over kill and very broken. I don't agree with the pollution doubler because pollution is annoying enough as is. Thanks for separating it all, as well as including versions with and without the pollution doubler.

This is a mod of the highest quality.. .well thought out, properly proportioned to the game structure, and balanced to the Maxis game and well-tested (you guys carping about pollution.. just use a cheat!) .. and yet you even gave the whiners a way to turn it into a pollution cheat.. :) I give it full thumbs up! Exactly what I would expect from the Big B..

It's been said before but thanks for a great, balanced mod that takes care of an issue (unrealisticly sized industrial areas) that's always bothered me about SC4. 5/5 stars.

in sim city 4 rush hour, i always thought high-tech industrial buildings and it's componets were COOL!!! i mean, all the gears and cranks and smokestacks and pipes and--- it's just neat to see. although i do hate the fact it drowns my city in smog, nevertheless i looove it! thank you so so so so SOOOO much for this. it gives the stuff i love an extra "ummph", and therefore lets me see more of it. THANK YOU!!
