About This File

This pack contains a set of four subway stops stops that sit on a road/avenue tile and don't require extra space beside the road. This is very useful for busy downtown areas or areas where you've forgotten to put in bus stops but don't want to bulldoze.

There are two sets of lots, each one with one road lot and one avenue lot. One set is just subway stops. The other set is a set of lots that act as both bus stop and subway entrance. The subway stops use a building family so you will randomly get one of three buildings; a plain set of stairs, a set of stairs with small newsstand, and a set of stairs with shop and lift.

All are found together in the miscellaneous transport menu.

The pack comes with two sets of textures for the roads. One uses the Maxis road textures and one uses the Euro road textures. Both will be installed when you run the installer. So you should go to the install directory (/SimCity 4/Plugins/deadwoods/DEDWD_RTSubwayStop) and remove one of the following (the one you don't want):

  • DEDWD_RTSubwayStop_Euro_textures.dat, or
  • DEDWD_RTSubwayStop_Maxis_textures.dat

The specs on these lots are based on Cogeo's road top lots. See the readme for details.

I often use these as an upgrade to my Road Top bus stops. When I need to start laying subway lines I replace the old bus stops with the sub+bus lots and then lay the subway underneath.

very useful, but I would like to read the stats when I click on the stop in the game (like it's usually possible on stops and stations). Just to know how many sim are using it.

Yep, just checked again. Works fine for all three stops (bus, sub and sub+bus). You should see a custom query with more info than the normal subway query.

These are wonderful. They save so much space, and they look really good. You always do great work!

Nice work, very impressive. My citizens congratulate you. Now they can move out and about without the fear of their houses being destroyed.

hi deadwoods, I tried again: the custom query doesn't show up in the bus+subway stop on road. In the other stations it works normally. I wonder why? It's a bit a pity because that's the stop I would use the most. Nevertheless, it's a nicething to have in my city ;)

Thanks for these, deadwoods, I really like the turnout lane and extra detail on the subway entrances. Great stuff. @Buggi - I am aware of the forum discussion. Part of it is that people are looking for a solution, so I thought I'd ask deadwoods if he plucked his magic twanger and found it.

Hi, I have a mac computer and I download thngs off this site all the time, unfortunately this is the first time any mod has been a .exe file which a mac can't open. Is there any way you can add the actual files so i can just add them myself or anything of that nature.

rctshack - I'm not a mac person but FileJuicer should be able to open the exe. It has worked on many installer exe's in the past. clamor_m - That's wierd, I just tested all road stops again. I'll post some pics in my thread.

clamor_m - found it. was pointing to a query in the busstop set. I'll upload a fixed version in a few minutes.

ThatMonkeySim - no, same prob as other lots of this type. If it's a 1tile wide zone, you get a "no car" zot. If the zone if wider than one tile, you won't.
