About This File

Inspired by a parking garage I recently saw in Reno, Nevada. That one had classic cars in the windows outside the elevator, which were there to advertise a nearby car museum. I just thought it added interest to it, so incorporated it into this one. There are also retail shops on the street level.

nice one, looks authentic ! hey, would be nice if yo could create a Popeye's Chicken, a Subway and a modern type Dunkin' Donuts....these buildings are very needed in my cities ;) since you are specialised in buildings of such type, I'd be glad if you could do that, thnx

I know that building, and it is extremely appropriate for Reno, not only home to Harrah's collection, but also Hot August Nights, which I attend every year. Great job on its re-creation.

Ah! The Parking Gallery on 1st and Sierra! I know it well! Only thing is, it doesn't have a ramp down the center the way this one does. The whole west side, the one opposite the middle from where the cars are on display, slopes down gently so there's no wasted space from ramps. Not sure how you'd do that in SC4 though... you'd have to make custom prop cars that tilted slightly to show up on them. Or not... it's a very gentile slope and you might not notice the difference.

They also put in 160 320w solar panels up there; enough to run the 5 businesses (Post Office, Flower shop, Gift shop, Visitor's center, and Bar & Grill) that make up the east side of the ground level. West side faces an ally, north butts up against another building, and south has the entrance and exit on 1st Street. (unlike SG's lot that has them on the east side)

Gets busy when there's special events, but at other times it looks like the picture above; no one parked on the top floor. (too hot!)

Dimensions look to be spot-on; the real thing is 70m x 36m. (4.375 x 2.25 lots) A little big, but VERY close! Parking spaces are too big, though. His lot looks to have about 420 spaces as compared to the real thing that has 650. (about 109 per floor less a few on the 1st floor) Plus it's missing the two stairwells on the SW and NE corners.

Still and all, it looks very much like the Gallery, so I'll be using it to good effect. I'll edit the stats, though; it has 650 spaces as compared to the Maxis lot with about 225 spaces, (best estimate) so 14,500 capacity sounds about right.

532 CS$ and 367 CS$$ is a bit much for a few tiny footprint shops, though. (remember, they're 1 story and only about 20 meters into the building, call it 1.2 lots deep) Total CS should be the same as about 6 CS$ and CS$$ 1x1 single-story buildings (like the smallest Small Shops and Retail Stores) So 69CS$ and 55 CS$$ sounds right. The Garage itself is also privately owned, but the only employees are the two ticket-takers at the exit, (and most of the time it's only 1) so call it 80 CS$ and 60 CS$$. If you want to emulate the Visitor's Center and Post Office, (i.e. all Civic jobs, including the ticket-takers) it'd be closer to 45 J-A$ and 20 J-A$$, not 95 J-A$ and 5 J-A$$.

Plop cost of $250 seams cheap, but then the Maxis Garage is only $150, so...

Isn't there a parking garage that someone made that looks like the Maxis version but it actually earns money for your city? I thought I saw one of those before.
