Stephen Drive:

The ultimate in R$ realism

This BAT is a tribute to the little details that set apart mediocre work from Maxis calibre.

When it comes to texturing and modelling, no detail was spared. All textures are custom made and there is no visible tiling. Each balcony of the complex is a treasure trove of detail, decked out with air conditioning units, laundry hung out to dry, tables and chairs, barbeques, the list goes on...

In order to ensure that this realism transcends daytime and carries into the night, the traditional Maxis niteliting was done away with; instead I have endured the pains of using interior lighting, meaning that some windows glow brightly with a yellow tinge while others reflect the dim blue iridescence of a TV screen. This also allows the interior geometry to show through.

The style of this BAT reflects the 60s-70s style of construction in Toronto. There are two colour schemes of the model included; a red brick and a yellow brick version.

Many thanks to T Wrecks for Modding the statistics of this BAT to a sensible level.

In my humble opinion, this BAT fulfills the task of merging seamlessly with the existing SC4 palette, while adding new opportunities to the game. But you don't have to take my word for it,  ;)  download away!

Ah finally. I was waiting for this. When would someone build something in my honor. I got Stephen's Church already. This is a great addition. Oh, apart from that it looks great as well.

Finally a building from my old neighbourhood. All though alot of these buildings were from the 50s and 60s, and not the 70s. This building looks like one of the buildings along the northern end of stephen drive in etobicoke, near the turn onto riverwood parkway.

These buildings aren't as bad as they're made out to be here. Rent is pretty steep, there fairly close to downtown, on the humber river (and park), and within walking distance of a shopping plaza and near the QEW.

There are small houses about 1 km north of this building, and just beside these apartment buildings that sell for $ 500 000. This ain't no ghetto, look at jane and finch, weston road, or scarbourough, if you want a ghetto neighbourhood.

The building in question is actually from a pair of buildings on RIVERWOOD parkway in etobicoke, one is 33 and one is 35. They don't actually look like this, but it's close enough.

The bottom is missing a front entrance, and there is a round driveway in front. There is also staircase windows running down either side. The back is one floor lower, and has garages on the bottom, as well as parking lots.

You can sort of see this in the forum. But it's not clear from an overhead shot. Good work though, I lived nearby for 13 years, and my friend and also a cousin lived in one of those buildings, so I know it well.

I can't believe I haven't rated this yet. This is among the best, if not THE best R$ apartment block out there, so 10/10.

A 4X2 lot in low wealth, with as many as 20-25 units per floor based on the exterior look, with only 382 residents??!! As much as I like the design and the fact that I use to live in Toronto before and seeing how it can be identified with Scarborough or North York low wealth buildings, I cannot give it a 10/10 as much as I really want to!
