RE: UNION STATION http://img231.echo.cx/img231/5120/unionstation1bk.jpg align=baseline> If anyone is interested in a Canadian building (train station being its main function), Union Station in Toronto would be much appreciated. It's not too complex a building, so I suspect it would not be too challenging to BAT, and if you like Beaux-Arts - this is an excellent building. It occupies an entire city block lengthwise, but is not so deep that it takes up an entire block. Why? Here's a reason: Union Station is the largest and most opulent train station erected in Canada. It is also the country's busiest public transportation terminal, and sees more passengers than Canada's busiest airport's three terminals combined (annually). When the Prince of Wales visited Toronto, his comment about Union Station was You build your stations like we build our cathedrals. The USA has its Grand Central in New York, Canada has its Union Station in Toronto (albeit Union Station is not in the same style and definately less ornate on the outside, but none the less inspiring). If you need any pictures of the exterior, I would gladly take some. This link might also help, but I've found no picture that really captures the grandeur of this station. http://www.city.toronto.on.ca/union_station/pdf/panels/1/02site_images.pdf http://www.hainsworth.com/qtvr/union/union1.html Above, an excellent half panorama of Union Station's front. I must warn you though, Union Station uses through-train operation.
