  1. The Cigar City Project: Tampa, FL Recreation

Neat BATs, I've never been to Tampa, but it looks interesting. Oh, and your photos? EMPORIS IS THE S#!%! I go there all the time to look up building stats and stuff. Keep up the hard work!
  2. NDEX ITS 201 Bishopsgate Broadgate Tower

I reall like this one, but interesting color for the night lighting. Again, great work!
  3. NDEX ITS S Utton Financial Services

Nice! I like this mid-rise too! Special lighting on that vertical element would really make it pop!
  4. NDEX ITS D R Pawley and Associates

Nice, I need more mid rise buildings! Lighting on the rounded corner woulda been nice though...
  5. Population has finally hit a Million People.

Impressive! I've had the game since it first came out and have yet to hit a million! My larges region only hit 330,000 or something. Unfortunately, I'm quite often plauged with RLS, so I don't have that much time to focus on my poor cities. Oh well, nice job, and welcome to Simtropolis!!
  6. Single Region city, or...

I think he means he builds several city "centers" on one large region piece, that way it looks like multiple cities even though its one region.
  7. Introduce Yourself Here!

Don't ever feel your English isn't good enough, Marcloc. We can understand you, thats plenty! Welcome to the ST, and don't hesitate to ask any questions as you start out. We'd be glad to help!
  8. mipro BSP The Olde Building

Love the detailing, and it's a nice scale. It's not often a quality 1x1 comes out. Great Job!
  9. SMP UK Virgin Rail Train and HSRP Mod

Very well done, the moddeling and mapping is excelent. Oh, and by the way, one of these just derailed on the Glasgow-London line... just thought id mention it. Fantastic job, though!
  10. ferox Krakowskie Przedmiescie 6, Warsaw

this is gorgeous work!, but the green kinda sets me off. I think alternate nite lighting would be nice...add maybe some kinda texture on the party walls; they seem VERY blank, is there a texture applied there? Overall its very well done: 9/10
  11. Let Us Come Together

Originally posted by: Glenni maybe Omnibus could be renamed tutorials/walkthroughs as more people know what that is rather than omnibus, i mean, i still don't really know what the word means!Heh forgive my ignorance here, but i can't just know like every english word here.quote> This is sort of off topic, but an Omnibus was actually an early form of urban mass transportation. It first appeared in New York City, and was essentially an oversized, horse-drawn stagecoach that would carry (mostly rich) passengers along the main city thoroughfares (i.e. broadway). This allowed the wealthier citizens to move away from the crowded and noiser city centers, essentially the begining of urban sprawl. Anyone ever see Gangs of New York? It can be considered an honest depiction of early American city life, and one scene actually involves riding an Omnibus. Check it out, maybe... Back on topic, I think the discussion thats been happening here has been really postive. There were a few posts that made me nervous, but overall people seem to have the same postive sentiments. I'm glad people agree that newcomers should be encouraged; as a personal testimony, I joined over a year ago, but felt too new/intimidated to post anything. Slowly I've overcome that, and I'm trying to be more involved. These things just take time. And think about it, if i wasn't here because ST became exclusive, you might never have known what an omnibus was...
  12. Let Us Come Together

I may not have many posts and I may not be that involved, but I know personally that I have come to this site on an almost daily basis, looking at what new STEX updates are in and reading the CJs and checking out the Forums. I've found very little drama here, and most posts are helpful and informative and idea generating. Recently, this has enspired me to take a more active role in this community, because I now find myslef at the point where my information and the data ive colleccted through this site can now be of use to people who where like me and just starting out. I may not know the backround to the current issues here at Simtroposlis, but what I do know is that it is no ONEs particular fault. Scapegoating a few people, BATers, or a group will not solve anything, and historically never works either. Patience is a virtue, and the more we get down to thinking about the problem rather than trying to find someone to blame, the more ideas well have, which is what Simfan, and this communtiy, is looking for. Since it seems that there is considerable talk about Noobs at the moment (and i think calling them noobs is inherently alienating and counterproductive), I think the first thing taht needs to be done is direct them away from where people like Glenni will be bothered. Looking on the homepage, there is no real "where to begin" for those who are just starting out. True, we do have the Omnibus, which is ver helpful, but it cant help anyone if no one can find it or knows what it is. Maybe the Omnibus should be highlighted in some way? (I'm not very good at web-design lingo, so bear with me) I also think more, Newer omnibus articles will be helpful. The forums are so full of topics and ideas its easy for a visitor to get lost, and the articles in the Omnibus at the moment feel a bit dated in comparison to whats happening in the forums. If the Omnibus got recnt updates about current ideas that seem to be circulating at the moment, it would kind of serve as a gage on where the community stood at the moment, facilitating better communitcation of ideas and so forth. I dont know how much site modification this would require, but it is an idea. THe great thing about community is that there are so many people here with so many different talents. These may not be the right ideas or along the lines of what this communtiy needs, but conversation needs to start somewhere. Lets keep this community strong and as helpful as its always beed. Without this place, I would never have advanced to the level I feel I am now, and so many game secrets would still be lost to me.
  13. a brand new city on a brand new map, or a brand new city on an already developed map? Depending on your neighbor connections demand for some lots wont be as high. If its completely new city, I'd focus on Industrial before commercial; commerce has nothing to sell if no one is making any goods!
  14. Best photo of your city

I took this photo from the now so-called Verizon tower in Center City Philadelphia. It is our City Hall at night, which is the largest municiple building in the world, and was for a time the tallest city hall in the world. You can also see the PSFS tower with its signiture red letters, the first skyscraper in the United States designed and built in the international style; it is now a Lowes hotel. The reflective area in the back of the image is the Delaware River. Here's another image I took from the Ben Franklin Parkway, showing City Hall at the end and our beautiful skyline. The redish-brown tower is the Verizon tower I mentioned earlier. The blue tower with the chevron-styled crown is one Liberty Place, our tallest building, soon to be surpassed by the Comcast tower currently under construction. The white tower with the pyramid is the Mellon Bank Center, and the blue tower on the far right is the Blue Cross/Blue Sheild building. pay no attention to the pedestrians j-walking...
  15. lifeless city- what's wrong?

nope... can't see them. Mayve they were too small, cause I do see two little dots in your previous post. Is there a link to your image host you can give us if they won't show up in the forums?
  16. Stupid MySims...

I like to use the My Sims function too, but like JoystickJunkie I get really annoyed at how often they complain. But I'm interested to see if juaquin's theory works. Maybe their complainst are simply word-of-mouth, so to speak? Intersting. Oh, and Filasimo, who HASN'T sent a meteor or 4 on thier My Sims? lol
  17. Ashford County

I'm sure by now you have already started development in Ashford County, but I thought I'd put in my two cents. I always like to start cities where they might have started had they needed to take into acount things like defense, access to water for health and transportation, etc. It seems to me that the ideal spot with this in mind would be on the east end of the map on the raised/rocky portion of land sticking out from the Durango Range along the Ashford River and south of Blue Lake. It would be surrounded on all sides by water and guarded in the back by mountains; the ports would be west of there where there seems to be a natural bay at the foot of the mountains. Even if you dont build there first, I love this map, and I'm glad its on the STEX. Looking forward to more!
  18. How much recreation is needed?

Whoa, dude. Total overkill with the parks. Parks, as sam says, are demand cap modifiers, and are used to allow for more growth. Go easy on parks until a neighborhood needs them to exceed the region's cap, then place a few sparingly to aviod your budget woes. I personally don't place any parks at all until I sort of see where my city's demographic center is leaning, i.e. where downtown/main street has formed. It means I have to demolish some buildngs to place them, but I feel it gives the city a more organic feel. I often will have several small centers, so each center gets a little grassy area and a plaza, normally. So for me, these relitively small parks in scattered sections of a city work just fine for me to relieve demand cap, fight air pollution, and improve city sentiment, while not breaking my budget. Plus, this also spreads my desirability/land value around to seveal different areas so I get even develoment. Concentrating parks in "fences" around districts will only promote development on those perimeters, and develoment might look uneven. Just some things to think about, hope they help. Remeber, all things in moderation...
  19. Columbus SC4M Map

My comps not really the best. How many large city tiles is it? I ask cause it looks fantastic and I'd love to use it! 10/10
  20. NDEX Ballard Park One by DT

Low rise is definitly in short supply on the Stex, and yours is very imaginative and attrative. I like the reference to classical influences without taking it to literal interpretation. Download...now.
  21. Daejeon

Big opportunity to build a network of bridges with intricate and challenging terrain... GREAT WORK!
