Hi Simtropolis! I hope your playing is going well. I have played SC4 for years and especially love Ferox' W2W Buildings when building European cities. The only problem is that I have a hard time making them grow. They only grow at certain times and at quite low frequencies - a problem that occurs in all densities, with all desirability levels etc.. Have any of you experienced a similar problem and maybe even solved it? Maybe through adjusting certain properties in iLives Reader? I look forward to hearing about your experiences if you have any. Thank you in advance! /Slashback

The Tomb was designed by the famous Polish sculptor, Stanisław Kazimierz Ostrowski. It was located within the arcade that linked the two symmetric wings of the Saxon Palace, then the seat of the Polish Ministry of War. The central tablet was ringed by 5 eternal flames and 4 stone tablets bearing the names and dates of battles in which Polish soldiers had fought during World War I and the Polish-Soviet War (1919–21). Behind the Tomb were two steel gratings bearing emblems of Poland's two highest Polish military decorations — the Virtuti Militari and Cross of Valor. During the 1939 invasion of Poland, the building was slightly damaged by German aerial bombing, but it was quickly rebuilt and seized by the German authorities. After the Warsaw Uprising, in December 1944, the palace was completely demolished by the Wehrmacht. Only part of the central colonnade, sheltering the Tomb, was preserved. You can find it in landmark menu, lot 2x1, no dependencies. Build cost 1000, monthly cost 15- 4 Comments

The Kotwica ([kɔtˈfit͡sa]; Polish for "Anchor") was a World War II emblem of the Polish Secret State and Armia Krajowa (Home Army, or AK). It was created in 1942 by members of the AK Wawer "Small Sabotage" unit as an easily usable emblem for the Polish struggle to regain independence. The initial meaning of the initials "PW" was "Pomścimy Wawer" ("We will avenge Wawer"). The Wawer massacre was considered to be one of the first large scale massacres of Polish civilians by Nazi Germany in occupied Poland. At first, Polish scouts from sabotage groups painted the whole phrase upon walls. However, this was soon shortened to two letters, P and W, due to time constraints. The P and W initials evolved into the Kotwica (Anchor) - a combination of the letters which was easy and fast to paint. The Kotwica began to signify more than just its intended abbreviation, taking on more meanings such as Polska Walcząca ("Fighting Poland"), Wojsko Polskie ("Polish Army") and Powstanie Warszawskie ("Warsaw Uprising"). Eventually, the Kotwica became a patriotic symbol of defiance against occupiers and was painted in a graffiti style on building walls. This monument was build in Mound of the Warsaw Uprising. This mound was formed by the debris of the old city of Warsaw, which was completely demolished in 1944 by the Germans. Today a Kotwica - symbol of the Polish underground army - stands on top of the hill, commemorating the citizens of Warsaw and the Polish soldiers perished between 1939 and 1944. Visitors may enjoy the impressive Warsaw panorama from here. In game as landmark, lot size 1x1 No dependencies- 4 Comments

The first idea of construction of a main Warsaw station, which would have been the nexus of all rail lines in the city, appeared in 1879. In practical terms, with one standard gauge line and a few broad gauge railway lines terminating in Warsaw in the 19th century, creating a single 'main' station would have been far from a trivial proposition. However, when Poland regained independence and the standard gauge was universally adopted, this project got revived. In 1921, when works on the modernisation of the Warsaw railway hub started, it became clear that it was necessary to demolish the obsolete Vienna Station. This having been done, passenger traffic was taken over by a temporary station on Chmielna street, which opened in 1921. It was decided that after the demolition of the Vienna Station, a new station would be constructed. The works began in 1932. The monumental complex of the Warsaw Main Station was designed by architects Czeslaw Przybylski and Andrzej Pszenicki. Wac?aw ?enczykowski was the structural engineer. This was supposed to become the most important rail station of the Second Polish Republic and one of the most modern in contemporary Europe. The station building was located along the Warsaw’s main street - Aleje Jerozolimskie, between Marsza?kowska and Emilii Plater streets, and the platforms were in a tunnel on the cross-city line (Polish: linia ?rednicowa). The station was designed in the Modernist Style, with then popular Art deco elements. The architects intended for the station to be multifunctional, therefore plenty of space had been designed for various stores, entertainment, and restaurants. As construction continued in 1938, the first passengers were able to use the partly completed Warsaw Main. However, the building was not completed because of the outbreak of the Second World War. A few weeks before the war, on June 6, 1939, the still unfinished station was partly destroyed in a fire which had been started by a team of reckless welding contractors. Initially many people believed that it had been an act of sabotage by German or Soviet agents. During operation of putting out the fire, led personally by the minister of the interior Felicjan S?awoj-Sk?adkowski, one fireman died and three were wounded. In September 1939, the station was damaged during the Siege of Warsaw (1939). Later, German authorities made some improvements, e.g. construction of a new roof. The station, though still unfinished and partly destroyed, remained operational. This lasted until the Warsaw Uprising when, as a result of battle, the damage to the station got significantly bigger. In January 1945 the Germans, soon before retreating from Warsaw, blew the remains up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Building in game has function of a railway station, a bus stop and the underground station. It's a underground rail station, to connect it to rail network you must use NAM underground rail puzzle pices, or rail to subway transition.
