This is the Grand Canyon. Looking NW, it's roughly the first 80-90 miles of the canyon before the first bend. Lake Mead is in the distance. It was tricky and was done without mods. I thought I had it a while ago but realized I personally had a water height mod in my plugins. The Colorado river was really the tricky part. The height range here is roughly 373m to 2800m. Keeping a steady flow of water was tough as the canyon rises in height as you go east. The map is smallish at 16x20 large city tiles to keep the aspect of the cliffs as impressive as possible. I didn't do the full canyon as the grander scale of it took away from the majesty of the canyon. I included a slightly larger version at 20x24 and I swear the canyon is less impressive, but maybe it's just me, lol. I have made several trying to get this right, so I may be imagining it. Just dump the one you wont use if you wish. There are two terrain mods that would go with this if you choose (i used vanilla terrain w/ ReShade for extra detail on that bland terrain) with Cycledogg's terrain mods found here: https://www.sc4evermore.com/index.php/downloads/download/34-cycledogg-terrain-mods . It uses an installer and IN the installer you have to click the + next to Z_CP MODS, and again the + next to CPT_No6 Terrain mod and select the terrain from the list. For our purposes, click the dot next to either Canyonlands terrain or Grand Canyon terrain. Create a folder in plugins (documents/plugins) called z_terrain files for easy finding in the future and direct the installer to THAT FOLDER. It' can always be your terrain folder to switch them out whenever you please. Might be a decent idea to search and fetch all water and rock mods that may be installed and store them there as well. You can use any terrain, I just found the cliffs looked more towering with the default vanilla. All terrain mods tend to change the trajectory of where water meets cliff and in this case NONE worked right (including the suggested terrain) as most come with custom parameters for such things. I've left the grayscale as a separate download. To install, unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions and load the game. There's no need for 3rd party software to play this region. Please enjoy! Version 2 map is 32x32 large city tiles... -

This is Anchorage. The map is turned so we are looking SE rather than north. In the pics, I have ReShade on and the terrain is default. This one would be nice with a snow mod. The map is sized at 32x32 large city tiles. To install, simply unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions - and load the game. The separate download is the .SC4M file and the 16 bit greyscale .png that SC4 Terraformer created and the initial grayscale I had to work from. These are best used with SC4 Mapper and SC4 Terraformer. Please Enjoy!! -

Realizing J.T.'s locker room influence can be toxic as well as inspirational. He holds a lot of weight. It's too bad he didn't realize it before he blew up at the team's highest paid player. I think taking him under his wing would've been the wisest choice. Now there's THIS.

I see right around the time that the countdown ticker showed up, the numbers of smashed bulbs per day picked up drastically. There was something about the clock that kept us motivated. I suppose, for me it was seeing the end is in sight. Then we got that extension! I don't know about how I feel about not being #1 on any given day. Seems about right but there was a slight twinge of disappointment, I'm ashamed to admit. Also, I love how we were all red in the graphs and the kinder people were green in the graphs. I chuckled at that touch.

There WAS one day where I actually felt soothed by smashing bulbs and didn't even mind the clock reminding me of how much time I was wasting!

Good thing I kept my smashing to a reasonable total. I'd hate to have to pay what @CaptCity has to pay. This was a lot of fun. Thanks guys!

This 36x24 map is central Panama w/ Panama City low on the right side. It's the thinnest part of Panama so I thought, 'hey throw the whole thing in!'. The canal waterway is present, some marshy land isn't. I flattened out most of the marsh which renders as wet sand on the land. Much of the flattest land here is less than one meter above sea level so I took it upon myself to 'fix' it. All tiles are large city tiles. I used ReShade in the pics to show detail. To install, simply unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions and load the game. There's no need for 3rd party software to play the region. Please enjoy!!-

This is a high up shot and mostly in Columbia. The area interested me because of that triangle mountain, which is the name of the region, that stands alone. There are several cities in this area including Santa Marta, Cartagena and Barranquilla along the coast. on the other side of the long mountain range is Venezuala and the city of Maracaibo is near the top of that range. Reshade is on in the pictures for better detail. The region Is 28X20 large city tiles. To install, simply unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions and load the game. There's no need for 3rd party software to play this map. Enjoy! -

Hawaii and Vatnajokull, two areas with active volcanoes. The thinking here is if you feel like destroying something, move some unsuspecting sims into your death area, build them up then take them down in a sadistic fashion. Vatnojakull has as many as 10 volcanoes in this area (I think you can see three quite visibly), so it would be REALLY irresponsible to build a society up on that glacier. I've been sitting on the Iceland map for a while because I didn't think it was good enough, so I decided to include a second one to try and compensate. Hawaii is a small region (20x16 Large) as far as playable tiles, but hey, it's Hawaii! Vatnajokull is 28x24 large city tiles.. I left my ReShade on in the pics for better detail. I'm pretty sure it's 'Gobias' Death Valley' terrain mod in the pics with Peg's 'Crystal lagoon' watermod. To install, simply unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions and load the game. There is no need for third party software to play this map. Enjoy! P.S. It occurred to me that I left the name of one of the regions by a working name. To change the name of a region, go into the folder and find region.ini and open it with a text editor and at the top is the name of the region. Just change it to your new name and save. -
Pulling my hair out because J.T. and Elias aren't getting along and Demmer has lost his mojo in Canuckland.

This is Rio. It's a small map at 12x12 large city tiles. There are a number of ways to give this city a Brazillian flavor. You can visit SimcityBrasil files here, https://community.simtropolis.com/files/category/67-SimcityBrasil-files/ . There are a bunch of terrain mods that would punch up this region. There's a post I found on Reddit here, ...where one of the posters gave an extensive list of terrain that would suit a South American feel. To install, simply unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions and load the game. There's no need for 3rd party software to start this region. Enjoy! -

It's the land of rivers. This is one for those that like a lot of bridges! The road networks could be pretty wild as you put your knowledge of the NAM to good use with this map. It's a kind of bumpy region as well. This region is 28x20 large city tiles. To install, unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions and load the game. There's no need for any 3rd party software. Enjoy!! -

Happy New Year Simtropolis! Another remote place here with Greenland. This is mostly flat up on the plateau- like interior, but man those coastlines! It's fairly tame in general but the coast should provide inspiration for somebody with interesting ideas. This region is sized at 20x24 large city tiles. I didn't use @Teirusu's snow mod here but it would prove useful because Greenland is a pretty frozen place. Another mod for snow terrain which may be as good or better (I haven't tested yet) is @Kavaeric's Antarctic mod. @Teirusu's is here-- AND @Kavaeric's mod is here-- Using these mods are simple. Create a terrain mod folder within your (documents) plugins folder ( you may already have one). Prefix the folder name with "z--" So it looks like this "z--terrain mod" and place the files from the mod in there. If you have one REMOVE it first as only one can be at play at any given time. With all terrain mods going in and out of one folder ( that you named) will be the place to go to switch out the mods easy-peasy. Just put them aside because every terrain mod is valuable and should be saved. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this map. I would absolutely LOVE to see pics of what other people have done on maps I make , so post a pic if you feel like it. To install, Simply unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions and load the game. There isn't any need (right now, check 'read me') to use third party software to play. Have fun! -

Happy New Year Simtropolis! This is Victoria BC and the Saanich peninsula. It's my hometown too. I live somewhere near the bottom of the map. lol It was hard to get this right because the only satellite shot I could get was sketchy. It was likely overcast that day, as usual, and the shot contains filled in data, because there were a lot of blocky edges in areas (the islands) that I had to smooth out and waterways filled in that I had to recreate. It's as accurate as I could get it although I doubt it's accurate to scale ( I wasn't aiming for that). I made several trying to get this one right and included a second one that I was fond of. I couldn't delete it. So there's 2. Pick one or both, they are slightly different. One is skewed and one is more overhead. The first one is 16x24 large city tiles and the second one is even smaller at 16x20 large city tiles. It's not a huge area to begin with.... We have ferries here and the major one that takes us to Vancouver is at the top of the peninsula. Under that is mostly farmland and the bottom is Victoria where all the bigger buildings and parks are, but you go nuts and do whatever and enjoy. To install, unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions - load the game, choose load a region at the top and pick either one to play and enjoy! In the pictures I used the VIP Terrain mod by Badsim. It's a really elegant and realistic mod that adds a ton of realism to city scapes. You can check it out here:- https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=17728.0 and download it HERE.. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/hhossnwgijvbgd9bcijqg/ACKqCwNpdc8YAyz9gRt9Prs?rlkey=2tm8zn8o8xwy3kfllwx3pbbhj&e=1&dl=0 When I saw the pictures on the first link, I was in disbelief but the textures in-game look great. Who likes mountains? The Andes mountain range is pretty impressive. This map goes: flat-mountain-flat-more mountains. If you like to drive under or over mountains, making network connections look cool and intricate, then try this one. Santiago is situated on the left side of the Andes, central-near the top. The region is 20x16 large city tiles. To install, simply unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions and load the game. Enjoy! Version 2 is 32x32 Large city tiles.
