About This File

This is the Grand Canyon. Looking NW, it's roughly the first 80-90 miles of the canyon before the first bend. Lake Mead is in the distance.

It was tricky and was done without mods. I thought I had it a while ago but realized I personally had a water height mod in my plugins. The Colorado river was really the tricky part. The height range here is roughly 373m to 2800m. Keeping a steady flow of water was tough as the canyon rises in height as you go east. The map is smallish at 16x20 large city tiles to keep the aspect of the cliffs as impressive as possible. I didn't do the full canyon as the grander scale of it took away from the majesty of the canyon. I included a slightly larger version at 20x24 and I swear the canyon is less impressive, but maybe it's just me, lol. I have made several trying to get this right, so I may be imagining it. Just dump the one you wont use if you wish.

There are two terrain mods that would go with this if you choose (i used vanilla terrain w/ ReShade for extra detail on that bland terrain) with Cycledogg's terrain mods found here: https://www.sc4evermore.com/index.php/downloads/download/34-cycledogg-terrain-mods . It uses an installer and IN the installer you have to click the + next to Z_CP MODS, and again the + next to CPT_No6 Terrain mod and select the terrain from the list. For our purposes, click the dot next to either Canyonlands terrain or Grand Canyon terrain. Create a folder in plugins (documents/plugins) called z_terrain files for easy finding in the future and direct the installer to THAT FOLDER. It' can always be your terrain folder to switch them out whenever you please. Might be a decent idea to search and fetch all water and rock mods that may be installed and store them there as well. You can use any terrain, I just found the cliffs looked more towering with the default vanilla. All terrain mods tend to change the trajectory of where water meets cliff and in this case NONE worked right (including the suggested terrain) as most come with custom parameters for such things. I've left the grayscale as a separate download.

To install, unzip to: C:\USER\Documents\SimCity 4\Regions and load the game. There's no need for 3rd party software to play this region. Please enjoy!

Version 2 map is 32x32 large city tiles...

What's New 2.0.0   View Changelog

Released

This is a larger map than the last. It encompasses the same area as v.1. The greener pics on the end are V.2. This is the 'roomy' version. There's more room to set up networks and such. I'm using Gobias' Sudden Valley terrain mod in the pics but I left a half dozen vanilla to show the contrast(I suppose) and I have ReShade on as well in the pics. Interesting enough, I tried Cycledogg's 2 canyon terrain mods and my map crashed each time. It might be a 'me' thing as I have lots of mods BUT I always pay attention to what terrain is active in my terrain folder. It's a thing that happened, but it may not be the same for you IF you choose to install either of those terrains. Anyway, I hope you enjoy Version 2!

I'm new(ish) to SC4 and this map has made exploring the game so much fun.

I've made a small region in the top right corner of this map, my first to reach 1 million people. It's been fun snaking rail lines through the valleys and using tunnels to wind them up to the high plateaus.

I'll be using this map again, using the God Mode elevation changes to sink the edges to create coastal cities, with a few rivers in the valleys that meet in the middle (plus some creative landscaping throughout.) It's going to be hundreds of hours of play, so I'm so glad I stumbled upon this map early. Thanks for this gift, @Moxy!
