  1. I have no further updates to give either - I am not knowledgeable when it comes to deep investigation of this sort of thing, sorry.
  2. That was probably your AV finding the file and throwing it out. As for the latter question: As far as I'm aware, there is no such thing. The "About Windows" dialog, where you'd find what version of Windows your computer is running, is seen in a system application by the name of winver.exe - not a control panel menu. To avoid confusing others: The Windows setup gives you two options when you are installing Windows: "Custom" and "Upgrade". "Custom" is the "install from scratch" option, and it's the one folks looking to do a clean install should pick. The "Custom" option will bring you to a drive selection page. When you get to this menu, you should see a couple of buttons above the list of drive(s) you have on your computer, like "New", "Format", and so on. Make sure you click FORMAT on the drive that had your previous install of Windows - for most folks, the drive you're looking for will be labeled as "WINDOWS", "DISK 0", or "C:". If you forget to do this, I believe the setup goes ahead and reformats the drive for you, if you select the drive that already has Windows installed on it. "Upgrade" keeps your files and (some) settings intact and upgrades/reinstalls Windows (e.g. from 10 to 11). Don't pick this option if you want to do a clean install, even if you're upgrading from Windows 10 to 11. If you're booting off a burned DVD or a USB drive, it shouldn't let you pick "Upgrade" (as it requires you to have already booted into Windows). During the install process Windows will ask you for a product key. If your computer case didn't come with a product key sticker on it, or if you lost it, go ahead and select the "I don't have a product key" option. After that, it'll give you a list of different "editions" (such as "Home", Professional", and so on) to pick from. If you've put in your product key, it should just have a few options, possibly only one. If you didn't put in a product key, it'll have a lot of options. Make sure you select the edition of Windows that matches the edition of Windows you had on your previous install (doubly so, if you're upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11). If given the option between a "Windows 10/11 [edition]" and "Windows 10/11 [edition] N", pick the one without the letter N at the end. If you don't know what edition you have, it should say in that "About Windows" dialog I mentioned earlier (though, of course, check *before* you format the drive). If you had a properly licensed and activated installation of Windows on your old install, it should go ahead and carry over to the new install.
  3. Yeah. Just make sure you select the regular install, not "Upgrade" (as that option will keep your files intact, afaik)
  4. It's a malicious Control Panel menu, given the file extension, so it might have a way to stick around. Maybe it infects other files, maybe it doesn't. It's still being looked into, so it's safer to instruct folks to still treat the fact that the file was quarantined as "You were infected and should take precautions to secure your data" since we aren't sure about the capabilities of the malware yet. That is basically just a generic "The AV doesn't know what malware it exactly is, but it's probably malware" detection, on BitDefender's part. Something called heuristic scanning. Different virus scanners take heuristics into account in different ways, which explains the differences on the VirusTotal page.
  5. simtropolis Miraculous News: Cori is alive!

Like a lot of other things, I tend to be touch-and-go with my interest in SC4/City Builders, so I don't post here very often. I am glad to see Cori(Rina?) has returned. Welcome back.
  6. I had the idea of creating these little icons one could place on a download or whatnot to indicate this kind of "weird version difference stuff", but I guess that won't be needed anymore. It is now my understanding that all "official" ("official" meaning around here, that is) support going forward is solely for 1.1.641 (digital) for Windows only? Will [name your favorite large SC4 'super-project' e.g. NAM, CAM, etc] also follow this line of thinking?
  7. Hello ST, I have recently noticed that once I get to larger cities (around the point that I start zoning in medium density) the fireworks that appear during the month of January as part of the New Year celebrations (plus the "Happy New Year!" unclickable news bulletin) seem to cause my game to chug slightly until they go away. (The chug gets worse as the city gets larger.) Is there any way to hide or straight-up remove these fireworks from my cities? ~ Kurzov
  8. NAM General Support

I think I may have found a "broken texture" in the RRW Single-Track while attempting to build some railroad infrastructure.
  9. Hello! I have noticed a graphical glitch that occurs on bigger tiles where the bottoms of said tiles seem to disappear. I do not know why this occurs and I was wondering if there was a way to fix it. Thanks, ~ Kurzov
  10. NAM General Support

Alright, thank you - will do.
  11. NAM General Support

Hello. I have not played SC4 in quite some time, but I'm looking to get back into it. My Steam installation of SC4 still has NAM36 attached to it, with the LAA patch already installed. I have heard/read that there have been a lot of changes since NAM36, so I was wondering if there was anything "special" that I needed to do to upgrade to NAM39 properly - i.e. would it be alright to just follow the instructions in the README of "taking out" the old NAM from my plugins folder, then installing NAM39, or would I need to perform some additional funny business to upgrade properly?
  12. Apparently SC4 thinks there isn't anything wrong with the terrain. Responded with "no changes necessary". Perhaps it's something with the "Berlin" map that I'm using?
  13. Hey! I'm having problems with connecting a city and a tile where I am going to build a city. as you can see in the first image, I have a connection set up, and I've built the neighbor connection tiles right on the border where the SC4 connection lies. but, in the second image, where the connection in the first would have led to is non-existent. I'm not sure how to fix this. thanks!
