  1. Hi First I have tried to find something similar to what I am about to ask but haven't found anything yet so, if anyone knows of another thread or whatever please point me in that direction! I have had what I thought was a tidy usable plugin folder but I have come to realise that I need a bit more organisation! It takes a while to load when I start SimCity and most of what's in there I don't need for what I want to do. For example I have quite a large buildings sub folder. I have broken that folder down to the specific creator but I want to go further. I want to do it by region type such as City (including town but may split this out further), Countryside or General (that suits everything). I have another sub folder for power and so on and so on. You get the idea! The biggest problem I have is identifying what each file is in the plugin folder. My question is then, what is the quickest way of identifying what each file is? Is there a simple way of opening a file in SimCity and seeing what it is so that I can file it in the new sub folder? Is there a test region set up that allows you to quickly and easily drop in your buildings without having to wait for them to grow? The painful way at the moment is to look at what the file is called and do a search on line to see if I can identify the building. This is killing me and taking for ever. I know I can search by maker but that still takes a while! One of the other reasons I want to do this is to remove out of my plugin folder what I don't want to use in order to cut down load time etc. I hope this all makes sense and I'm not just another numpty that doesn't know what he's talking about! Oh, yes, sorry if this is in the wrong forum section!
  2. Identifying My Plugins

Thanks for the suggestion @jeffryfisher I will have a look at DataNode. Anything that will help sort my files out will be a relief!
  3. Identifying My Plugins

First, thanks for the great advise @rivit. Much appreciated. I had taken a copy of my plugins folder and from there was sorting them out. Unfortunately I have not kept the zip folders so can't go back to the beginning for each file. Also in my rather immature approach to my plugins folder when I started I have not kept or have moved read me files for a number of my first plugins. Now the only way of identifying what each file is, is to look on the internet in order to decide where I want to put the file! Ahhh the slow and tedious bit. Hence the reason for asking my initial question! Still, if that is the only way of doing it, so be it! I will look at ILive reader for a friend! Hopefully I will get a much neater and smoother system in place sooner rather than later! Thanks again

Hi Thanks for the feed back! I certainly will have a look at the SimFox golf courses as they look really nice.
  5. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Glad I could be of service! Good advice! I will do the same!
  6. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Brilliant! Exactly what I was after. Along with the HH I think I can do what I have in mind. I'll wait a little while though! Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
  7. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Oh right ok. I'll do just that! Thanks again
  8. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Hi @SIM-ple Jack thank you for your quick reply! Thank you for what you suggested but it's not quite what I'm after or at least I don't think it is. The Historic Harbour looks as if it's purely just for a sea based scenario unless specific aspects can used in other ways? I was looking for actual board paths that are used to cross marsh/flooded/sand/forest amongst other things. Basically they are scenic walks.

Great work @JojiTX I really like what you have done. I think the mansions look really good. I love the look of the golf course too and the driving range. My I ask what you have used to achieve this?
  10. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Hi All I was wondering if there was anything like the board walks as shown in the following pictures. Can any one recommend anything please? Ideally they would be good for any type of terrain but the most common is the type seen in the photo's. Thanks

That is great advise @mrbisonm ! I would never had thought of that! I have a plugin folder that I think is fairly organised but what you describe has made me realise how unorganised it probably is! I wanted a way to make it better and your suggestion certainly goes a long way to help me! I'm looking forward to creating some good scenes!! Thanks again!

Ok I now have so much logging stuff I don't know what to do with it!! Out of interest if anybody else is looking for similar things then this cheat sheet from @catty-cb may be of some use. I have soooooo much to download and install!
  13. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Great, thank you. I'll have a look. Thanks for your help. Once again thank you @gwada971 ! I will def check them out. They all sound like the kind of thing I'm after or at least will help me achieve what I want. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Another thought...... Are there any lots specific for logging? I'm thinking more like the ones found in Scotland where areas will be fenced off and planted with pine, fir or whatever. They are grown in rows and often large enough to accommodate walks, bike tracks, horse hacking, etc. There will also be logging tracks which the heavy equipment will use in order to cut down and remove the logs. Do such lots exist or is it a case of combining a number of things to create my own? Any help most appreciated! Thanks!
  15. Hi I restarted playing SimCity 4 Deluxe after a few years and I picked up where I left off in terms of adding custom content, etc. I am though a novice really! I have used in the past and I am doing so again the Lowkee Appalachian Terrain Mod. I don't recall ever having issues with it. However I started a new city and I noticed a very odd affect with the beach texture bleeding up the cliff face. The odd thing is there are no beaches although there is likely to be sand under the water. Note that this a standard San Francisco region I am using. Ignore the small settlement that is not staying! Another thing is I have not used the Lowkee Starter Set as recommended but instead have chosen other water, sand and rock HD textures. If it helps they are: Water - SHK_Brigantine_2.0 by shokthrpy Sand - HD White Sands Beach Mod by Marsh Rock - SHK HD Rock Mod by shokthrpy I have looked through all my plugins and cant seem to identify if there is another mod that is causing a conflict! I have tried even removing the Appalachian Mod out of my plugins but that doesn't appear to solve it, which would suggest that it isn't the problem. Also note how the water line is jagged, sharp and is beyond the waves. I don't think I have had this before. My conclusion is, is I have a file somewhere that is causing the issue. I just don't know what! I would like to know if others have come across this before, know what it is or could suggest reasons why it is happening? My problem is I'm a perfectionist and it clearly doesn't look right! Thanks

This is probably my last post on this subject now as I think I'm happy that nothing odd is happening! So, I decided to start a new region and just modify the coastline. It's not complete but it works. It seems such an obvious thing now! Just need to get adding stuff! Lots to do!!

Great! Thank you. They look like the kind of thing I'm after!

Hi All! I'm after some rural style power lines but I can't seem to locate any other than: These are not far off what I'm looking for. In the UK these type of power lines are used throughout the country side as well as in towns and city suburbs and they are made from wood. Only issue I have with the above is that they can only be put on flat ground. Does anyone else have any ideas or know where I can find what I'm looking for? I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times! Sorry.

Ok, I have now removed all my plugins and it would appear that rsc204 you are right. The same thing happens but with Maxis textures, etc. I am now going to slowly add my plugins but I believe there is nothing to find. The above makes me realise how far things can be out. I had to raise the land quite a bit to get the rocks to show and the beach to disappear from it. It then raises another question. You can obviously get low lying land next to the sea that is just rock no sand. Hence a rocky shoreline! What is the easiest way of showing this? Plopable rocks? Just deepen the water so the beach is nowhere near the rocks? or by adjusting the settings in the terrain mod? Just curious really! Does anyone have any examples of how they have done it? My problem is I love realism and the above doesn't cut it in my mind neither did the example I started this thread with. Sorry if my 'issue' is annoying and an obvious one!

I know I don’t have 6GB of plugins so it should be ok!! Ok it does make sense. It just doesn’t look right! Seeing it like that I assumed that something was wrong. What’s confusing is I have used the terrain mod before and I really don’t recall it acting like this but my memory might not be what it used to be. If doing what thingfishs recommends doesn’t work I may have a little tinker with the settings but I am leaning towards just standard terraforming!! Thanks guys.
  21. Beach Bleeding up Rock Face

I had never thought of doing it that way before! I have a big plugin folder so it may take a while but it will be worth it if it works. I thought I had solved it yesterday by swapping Lowkees mod with Gobians Sudden Valley mod but it turned out the same so it would seem it’s something else lurking in the dark on my plugins! It does go away if I slightly alter the terrain but I only need to tweak it again and it comes back. It is def linked with the beach as it doesn’t happen with deep water next to the land. It also goes if I make the land too steep. It seems ok if I flatten the land and create a beach. I need to do more testing. I may be missing something very simple here!! Thanks again for helping!!

Hey Thingfishs Thanks for your reply! I have now tried multiple things to no avail I have removed the mods I mention in my post but that doesn't change anything, removed Lowkee's Appalachian Mod but that doesn't change anything, I have removed some additional content that I added recently but that didn't change it either! I opened another region but that is the same too! So I'm stumped. I'll keep looking................... Thanks for the advise about terraforming. I may have do go down that route but it's just really frustrating me as I don't remember having to do this before! still better that I guess than never playing the game because I'm obsessed in trying to find the answer. I will look into the extra terrain tools! I wasn't aware there were any so thanks for pointing them out to me. I'll also look at checking out the tutorial as it may help things. thanks again for the advise!

Just a thought! Having browsed around I believe I have posted this topic in the wrong forum! If someone can let me know how to move or suggest where it should go please it would be great! Thanks!
