In my humble opinion, the most important thing you could add into this game, or any city building game for that matter, is full mod support. Not even the biggest of development companies will get around to building all the features us Mayors have grown to love in SC4, it just won't happen as there are too many. However, as long as you open the game to modding it can be what we all want.

I have 10 years worth of mods, what's the best way to sort though them?
Robotica replied to poshbakerloo's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hey man, you might want to try this out. I really don't know if it works well or will identify them properly, but this looks like a mod manager that might help sort through them. I actually plan on organizing my massive mods collection soon as well. I have so many mods it's pathetic. But like you, I can't tell what is what anymore as I just download willy nilly. Actually when I first started to mod I didn't know you could categorize the folders and stuff so I just put everything in as it came. If you do use this, let me know how it turns out. The author is working on a dependency mechanism that will allow you to installa mod and then automatically install the dependencies. However that is disabled at the moment he said, but the whole mod management side should still be active. -
IncGamers: Cities: Skylines Infrastructure highlights
Robotica commented on Hellken's article in News
I absolutely can not wait for this game, I am incredibly sick of SC13 and even though I love SC4 with a passion I am anxiously waiting for a modern replacement. If you ask me, city building is an artform, not just a game. I haven't watched the video yet, but hopefully they make sure to allow modding, and not just adding some new buildings. If they don't add full mod support they might as well not even be making the game. -
How to get more diverse buildings to grow
Robotica replied to mayorlucario's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Wow some good info in this thread, answers to some questions I have had for a long time. I actually have had this same problem and eventually just gave up trying to grow lots because I could never get the ones I wanted where I wanted them. Not sure if you are already aware of this or not, but if you install the extra cheats.dll mod you can use "LotPlop" and "BuildingPlop" to manually browse and place all RCI in the game. So, what i will usually do is zone everything the way I want it, let everything grow for a long while until it has pretty much stabilized and then manually place the buildings I want where I want. -
Project Orion Ground Pollution bug?
Robotica replied to PurpleCity's topic in SimCity (2013) Showcase
Actually, if you haven't looked at the mod page for Project Orion in a while you should look at it again. It seems the modder updated the page with some explanations of the various overlay issues and explains how to understand the distortions. In my humble opinion it just isn't worth the headache. It's a great idea, but in practice it's just too problematic to build working cities with. Again, in my opinion, if you want to use the extended maps you should just build a plop city, meaning it doesn't actually simulate, it's just for looks. There is a mod which lets you plop all the buildings, you can use that to build your city how you want, it just won't work. And yes, can't wait for the new Cities Skyline, I just wish it was coming out sooner... Next year is still many months away -
Hello, I was just checking to see if there has been any progress with this mod? I downloaded and installed the mod back when it first came out and while it definitely worked there were a lot of wonky issues, pretty much all the things described under the overview. I was wanting to check in and see if there have been any breakthroughs in correcting some of those oddities? things like the distorted land maps (land value, water tables, etc) can be really problematic. Also only being able to build out on certain sides is kind of odd as well. Anyways, great mod all in all, but as it stands I don't feel the urge to use it for actual building.

What do you do once your city is full and productive?
Robotica replied to Rufus Honker IV's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Once my city has reached the boarder and is fully developed (usually in just a few hours at most) I generally take a few screen shots, contemplate what I am doing with my life and then promptly quit the game. -
Help, am I being ripped off
Robotica replied to Snorp09's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
You definitely got ripped off... But dont feel bad, I did too -
Will it run it? & Worth buying it?
Robotica replied to Baseketboll's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
you can probably run it, but you will likely have to play with reduced graphic settings if you don't want any lag. Is it worth it? That answer is entirely unique to each person. Is it worth it to me? Well, I have spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours playing this game so for the value I got from it yes... However, do I like the game? Do I think it's a good game? Do I think it's done well? Not at all. In fact, at this point, I can't play for more than a few minutes before I get bored and turn it off. If your a social gamer and you are a casual simcity player then this will probably be okay for you. For players who enjoy the whole simulation experience this game isn' that bad. However, for players like myself who just want to build big awesome cities the game sucks, like terribly bad, I can usually finish a map in about an hour. Where as in SC4 I could spend a couple weeks on a single map. Also, while this game does support modding it's very much limited and there are not many mods available. Last time I checked there was no way to add new buildings without replacing old ones, no way to effeciently extend borders (larger map) (though there is a new 3k borders mod which is a lot better). -
Great work guys, really great. I got it working without any problems what so ever. It took a minute for me to realize how to place some of the roads past the borders, but once I got the hang of it things were pretty easy. Now, here is what I found with the mod. 1. Terrain does not seem to terraform when placing roads. Normally when you lay a road the road smooths itself by adjusting terrain underneath it. When placing roads outside the normal boundaries the terrain does not adjust which causes roads to look harsh and also causes a lot of graphical artifacts, especially when the road is going up and down a lot. 2. The cursor seems to jump way far away from the actual mouse position. I think this has to do with elevation as it seems that when the elevation changes it seems that the cursor follows the terrain and not the mouse. 3. I couldn't get bridges and tunnels to work outside the area. 4. When plopping certain buildings I could overlap existing buildings. 5. When switching maps I could see plopped buildings but not the connecting roads. I could also plop ontop of neighboring maps if they overlapped my current map. Thats about it for now. Another thing I noticed is that things were a bit laggy. Not unbearable, but I could definitely notice some lag. I also didn't have much going on, like at all... So I wonder how it handles with full cities? Does it lag badly?

Offline-Only Mod: "UniDirectional Networks (UDoN)"
Robotica commented on xoxide's file in SC13 Game Mods
Hey man the download link seems to be broken. Strangely I can get all the way to adfly where I wait a few seconds for the download link to appear, but once I click it to start the download it simply redirects me to simtropolis. I tried logged in and not logged in and also on different browsers. I downloaded a bunch of other mods just fine, and i have actually downloaded this mod before. Please fix :) -
You can also use the extracheats.dll plugin. It allows you to disable the need for things like water and power and is probably much easier to use than the ilive reader, especially if you don't know what your doing (like myself). However, with the extracheats plugin I believe you must turn off the need for services every time you load the city (but I could be wrong about that). There are also a lot of plugins that do similar things, just search for water and power and you will find a ton. However I prever extracheats because you can also do things like view all plopables and give yourself 999999999 money.

Greetings fellow mayors, today I would like to share with you the unveiling of our new city development, Vermillion. While the city is still young and unfinished, it is already being inhabited by some of the worlds leading engineers and scientists. The first city district within Vermillion is known as Atica. Right now it acts as the sole development of Vermillion, but one day it will serve as a the backbone for a thriving metropolis. Atica Daytime shot, around 3pm on a beautiful Simolean Saturday Nighttime shot around 2am, there are a few drops of rain in the sky And finally, a sunset pose taken around 9pm, clear skys and night lights. ----------------------------------------------------- Well, that's it for now. I hope you all have enjoyed, don't forget to view the full sized images! I will try to keep this updated with three new shots after finishing each tile/district in the region. My goal is to create a beautiful portfolio of city images. And, if you can't already tell, the pictures are post processed in Photoshop Enjoy!

Hello everyone, I have a simple question. Is it possible to disable Cities of Tomorrow roads? Maybe with a mod? I don't like the new roads very much, and I hate how they have to spread around futurized buildings. I would much rather just use normal roads, especially with the new textures available... But, with CoT roads they ruin it. Thanks!

Hello gracious modders and moddets, I have a request! What about a mod that improved the basic city services like water and sewage... What I am thinking is, making a mod where you don't have to plop a bunch of modules. I see mods that increase the number of modules you can use, but that means taking up more space... What if instead, you make it so that a water plant, for example, only needs a single pump module to produce enough water to power a high pop city. Or, a garbage dump that only needs a single landfill and incinerator, or a sewage pump that only needs one pump... Get my point? When you place all this stuff in your city it takes up a lot of space, and since you have to have all this in every city it really gets boring fitting it all in. Any ideas?

Some Features Disappearing
Robotica replied to ConfuzzleCraft's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
Maybe try uninstalling and reinstall? The whole game... Are you playing in offline or online? Where did you buy the DLC, directly from Origin? -
As long as you put the plugins in the plugins directory, it should be a simple as removing the plugin from the directory... As far as I know the PEG ports does not remove the maxis ones...

Mod Request - Fix for the Space Center
Robotica replied to JMC38's topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
Im so mad at maxis for letting problems like this just sit since launch. I mean, its just absurd that they don't fix these problems... This, the tunnel bug, the commuting bugs, the data bugs, the sync bugs, the unable to load city bug, all problems since day 1, still in game, still not acknowledged by devs... Just such a slap in the face. -
How do you get those amazing mountains and snow? Mine looks, well, absolutely terrible compared to that lol. Mine is all fuzzy and not defined in the slightest... Did you do that to a screenshot in Photoshop or something? Is it a mod? It does look good, your whole city here is amazing.

Do you think this can be done?
Robotica replied to mayorgreener's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Not likely, unfortunately there are certain angles and curves in this map that you can't get with SC4. You could get kind of close, but once things start to get out of place the further out you build the more out of place they will become. A bit off topic, however, if you want to build a city with this road network you could easily replicate it in Cities XL. -
Is this building functional or eye candy?

SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition Makes Triumphant Return to the Mac
Robotica commented on paeng's article in News
Wow this is awesome! It sounds like they revamped the game and made it better. My problem though is I don't use a Mac, so is there any way for me to get these fixes and updates on my PC? I don't mind if I have to even repurchase the game for 20 bucks. If it can improve performance its worth it to me. But, by the looks of it all I would say this is only available on the Mac? Any news if we will see it on PC? -
What happens when I play a MP Match alone?
Robotica replied to SimCitizen_99's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
So what if user a has enough resources to produce 10k power and no money or resources for anymore. User a sales power to user b and then user a logs out and user b stays online. Will user a be able to provide infinite power or will it max out at 10k? -
University Mod?
Robotica replied to ForensicCRAFT's topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
You want more ploppables for the university? Not to be derail your post on something else... But, the university already takes up a massive area of space in these tiny little city plots... Adding even more modules for the university seems unintuitive... Instead, why not just increase the amount of students each can teach/hold?
