one time i tried saving my plugins folder on the win7 to a thumb drive, and after two days it was what caused the crash. meaning i came back the next day and it was halfway transferred, and the next day it was black and i had to take it to my computer guy and he said it was overload. this was the computer that would take 24 hours to start the game. my xp i never connected to the internet. i would transfer things to a laptop and then thumb over. i never really thought about it crashing until ten years later when it did. my other win7 was supposedly backed up, this was a large architecture computer, but it turns out the only way to redownload the files is back to the original computer, which to me makes no sense, and defeats the whole purpose of online backup but when in rome. this was the computer i had all the 3dsbat, etc. on, along with numerous CAD, etc. and 3d software, printing, etc. on. It was a big disappointment. right now im loading things onto a laptop and figuring out what exactly i want to do with an extra Dell XP i got. I know I've gotta get a video card and more RAM for it, but I'm hoping I can work with my new computer guy to build something that will work nicely for SC4. I don't know anything about computers, I just like SC4.

It would be nice for people like me who are now redoing the process for the 3rd time thanks to computer crashes. It takes me about 3 months to download, unzip, and re-install about 10,000 files. I always put off the single installer guys like SimGoober til last.

Hi. I just downloaded SC4 Deluxe from Amazon onto an Asus Windows 10 computer. When I go to the regions folder, open paint and do all the steps, it shows the config file in the folder like normal, but when i open the game, it doesnt show up. Any ideas? Thank you.

I have a question. In the NAM36 literature, it reads that the traffic simulator has been fixed. Is this the same as the old simulator, or is there anything new regarding traffic and traffic patterns? Is the continuous loop still there? Has there been any changes to the distance a sim will travel? anything helps. thanks.

Hi. My game was running the glitchiest of all time (couldn't see diagonals, cat scratches, blackholes, etc.) and so i decided to pull all 25 of my plugins out and see what happens. I can't get rid of the folder because it says its open and running somewhere else. I can open the folder and delete the DAT file, so I just have an empty folder that I can't delete. I tried running the game just with the empty folder in there, and its glitchy, so I'm pretty sure that its the culprit. Thanks.

Thank you very much, it went away with the reboot. Im starting to get really cranky with this windows 10. I loved my xp, and got another one, but can't find any RAM for it. Until then Ill have to make due with this.

I'm having all kinds of problems. I downloaded the NAM36, then dropped it into my C 86 maxis plugins folder like old times, but when i went to unzip it it said i couldnt. is there a tutorial for using windows 10? except i had another windows 10 computer and i didnt have these problems. this has to be a version thing.

I go to the x86 from C regions file and make a folder. 'New Custom Region.' It appears. I go to paint and create a solid blue 4x4 and save and find my x86 new custom region folder and it wont let me save it there because i dont have permission.

how do i take ownership? i googled it and followed the instructions and its still not working

Ok, I figured out I had two sets of maxis files, (a problem Id had on another computer once before) but now its not letting me save my config into my new region folder, its saying i dont have permission and to contact my administrator. I am the administrator, and I went to properties, and changed all permissions to full whatever. Its still not letting me save in there.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I have the industry quadrupler yet it's not enough. The large tiles (256) only make up a neighborhood, and to spread over a real size city is with enough houses to support having skyscrapers realistically I still think I'll need to adjust the individual houses. It'll be worth it, I've accomplished long term sc4 goals before.

I have a strategy (design/layout) that I think would work using the NAM to get the desired effect of tons of houses and everyone getting to work. "Chicago" is the desired look. If I just make a map of Chicago and zone residential all over I run out of jobs really really fast. The other goal is to not duplicate stuff too much except chain stores (7-Elevens) and houses. I want to make a screenshot of the region view, showing one coastal waterfront city. One concern is the lack of midtown sized commercial buildings, which I've been working on BATs but haven't finished any yet. I hope to have one up this year. I've been working really hard on this layout idea, and with the advancements in MMPs and concrete tiles, etc. and a focus on distance and how to fill it (about 50' per square) I think it'll work out. Field trips to Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Louis, and Detroit have helped me understand blight better, and how to use it to my advantage in SC4. Also the parking lots that came out last year were a big breakthrough, as well as getting the new NAM, which works now so the freeways take up a lot of space. This will be the first city to have a subway system for me. It really seems like a metropolis could really be possible now. I'm really excited and cannot thank everyone enough for all of their hard work. The creations people have made over the years are amazing and obviously none of this would exist without everyone doing a wonderful job. It really amazes me when with the correct placement of a handful of buildings, one can step back and sort of see that the scale, detail, and functionality of everything is correct. The support that's been given time and time again for petty question after petty question is greatly appreciated. I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Hi, is there a good video that shows support for the elevated NAM 34 8 and 6 lane highways, particularly on and off ramps? I've been trying for a while now, and have gotten Project Symphony down, but everytime I add an off ramp to the elevated 6 or 8 lane highway it just squishes it. Any help would be great, thank you.

Be aware that even with the transit-enabled hover fix the viaduct rail puzzle pieces will still crash the game when hovered over certain rail stations, at least it does for me.
