  1. American Politics

My interest in American politics is light, as I just follow it for its cheap entertainment value. Politics is of little value to me when western civilization has become nothing but a suffocating beached whale slowly gasping its last breaths looking around with its eyes as everybody comes slicing pieces of meat off of it for their own personal consumption. When our politicians have become nothing but cheap whores selling themselves out to the highest bidders foreign and domestic.
  2. work distance problem ...

I notice my lumber industry seems to have problems finding workers but my oil industry had no problems.
  3. Maybe not building roads through previously placed buildings. I mean realistic how often in your city you live in do you see the city bulldoze straight through an established neighbourhood to build a 6-lane road?...where I live not often. I think this applies to city building in general lets admit it some cities plan ahead but not much. So I prefer not to build roads through established areas I think this helps with realism. If you do it must be carefully done just like in real life, homeowners will be resistant to road building....so have a pretend NIMBY.
  4. its almost my lunchtime 11:00 am mountain time. So I will make some rayman with 2 eggs, and drink my smoothies that I make fresh with my blender a combination of fresh, banana, strawberry, oranges, mango, raspberry, and blue berry.
  5. American Politics

oh Clinton just suddenly has some "political no no" did she?....me thinks you Americans is gone get another Bush shoved down your throats...so either the Bush family legacy must be healed, or ya'll gettin another round of terror. I mean screw it right its only the president of the United States its not like its a big deal...the Bushes deserve to be vindicated.
  6. Should I buy this game?

$33 bucks is cheap for a game of this quality given that games like Rome Total War 2 were selling with all the DLC's for about $100 for a broken game that needs a super computer to run it. Skylines is not only a city building game its one of the highest quality games I've had in a long time at a release price cheaper than any other game. Plus I'm running the game satisfactory on a non-gaming laptop.
  7. I'm I the only one who can't see any evident class distinctions in skylines?...where's da hoods?

yes....that is what I want... and traffic and pollution

  8. like the traffic simulation the best. I like seeing the trucks bounce and move. It makes a small town look really busy. I like building spread out and making everyone use cars and watch the traffic back up just like real cities.
  9. This is a big day for us today...us city building people...we shall remember this day

  10. Game looks good. Quill18 looks like he might be the worlds first fatal victim of city building game addiction. I don't even think Quill18 is much of a city building fan. Wait till this game gets in the hands of some real city building fans...this game addiction stuff could get ugly. The road/rail building mechanics look great. But I think there is only 2 building densities. the cities look very dense, or they densify a bit too quickly. I like the bus route planning from cities in motion and cities xl too. I do like the big industrial building placement from SimCity 2013 like the refinery and smelters looks like that is not here but whatever.
  11. Watching Quill18 OD on city building priceless

  14. Cities XXL first impressions: freight glitch, horid music, first 5 minutes crash...

    1. Sim Trekker

      Sim Trekker

I have CXXL, but I've never had any glitches with freight, nor has the game EVER crashed. Runs like a charm. I do agree about the music though. Just awful.

    2. Snugies

      Snugies

yep realized my freight problem was I was using dirt roads. But ya LOL the music is terrible. But as I play more I am starting to like the game.

    3. Ocram's Razr

      Ocram's Razr

The music is bizarre and YouTube claims copyrights on all of the songs. That makes it a no-brainer to turn off the music.

a starcraft movie would be awesome. its a really good story.
  17. Which is your favorite most necessary city utility if you had to choose the only one you would receive. Which one couldn't u live without?
  18. I went for electricity too. I figured communication/internet is important and most of the other stuff requires electricity to operate. And that electricity can be generated from many sources many of which being renewable.
  19. Sounded like you said water ocram. I'm thinking police (Law and Order) without organization/tax collection there can be no utilities provided...but if people won't voluntarily organize maybe they should go their own ways. Without roads I can't get the farmers food... without sewage disposal I will get sick...without electricity I have no internet therefor no access to communication and knowledge as to how to build and maintain these other utilities... its a toss up between sewage and electricity for me...still undecided

  22. Civilization: Beyond Earth

I should give it more credit it is very hard to live up to the standards of CIV 5 and IV. Thanks for the references for the critical reviews. I think saying it has more substance than CIV 5 is a hard argument. Civ 5 does have a myriad of different civs with different strengths and weaknesses. But I do play this game differently than most other folks I play a standard map size will the max 22 civs. Max cities expansions is about 3 playing this way. I like it because right from the getgo civs are going at it. I do think the possibilities for the CIV series are endless, as history has so much about it their is so many concepts available form history to apply to the CIV series. Further the games computational power is not spend so much on graphics, and I think that leaves more space for putting more concepts and complex behaviours into the game. I'm excited about the future of this series, and not just because my SimCity is not working right now. But I am worried they may be rushing through the classical era to quickly as the game slows down so much in the 20th century you know why isn't the classical era that slow? I enjoy reading classical history and the argument can be made more excitement was going on in the classical era than the modern era. I guess they feel that WW1 and WW2 only lasted about 5 years each but cost so much. Maybe the CIV developers felt that time speeds up in the modern era as the population increased. I guess people may argue the numbers just weren't large enough in classical times even though ceaser's genocide of the celtic gauls killed well over a million people in maybe 10 years time.
  23. Civilization: Beyond Earth

Going on metacritic and seeing the ratings for this game give me a very suspicious and conspiracy attitude to the gaming industry. On metacritic all the critics rank the game high as opposed to the players rankings where about half are negative. I've also noticed over the past year or so having a harder and harder time finding real critical game reviews on youtube or google. That's the only way I buy a game is seeing what the real critical reviews say. I can tell you I didn't buy watchdogs because it was developed by the same people who developed assassins creed and I felt ripped off from assassins creed. As far as Civ BE I won't buy it. I think this is a marketing strategy to try to get into the Sci-fi market and I think its been rushed I think the design of the units look very rushed. So as a history buff I'm angry about the new Sci-fi route of the series and will not purchase it. And my conspiracy theories of youtube blocking critical reviews of the civ games has influenced my purchasing decision as well. If you can't take the heat you are not confident in your game if your not confident in your game then your game sucks.
  24. That's awesome I love the garbage in the water thing. Is that true for NYC? Love the huge industrial buildings looks awesome.
