I just started playing Cities: Skylines and only a few hours in, I came upon something I never saw in SimCity 2013 or SimCity 4: the ENTIRE city was sick. Went from nearly 10k pop down to under 3k. I don't know why. It said that the health of the city was terrible but I had close to 8 health centers (clinics and hospitals). I just finished drawing up a highway and put in an incinerator so could that have done it? I don't have any other guess other than maybe a bug? No matter how many more health centers I put in, the city wouldn't get better and kept fluctuating in pop. It currently stands at ~4k. Any help for a newbie to Cities: Skylines here?

Free 3D Software and Resources for your Modelling Needs
MikeyBugs95 replied to Mr_Maison's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
As someone who uses Fusion on a near daily basis, I can't recommend the program enough. It's a near fully-packed and very powerful 3D CAD software in a light package. It comes with with the customary solid modeling package with a great ability to switch from parametric, history based modeling to direct modeling (but it's a bit more difficult trying to switch back), surface t-spline modeling, a basic mesh editer, a cloud-based simulation capability and a rather good render. And a project to Drawing feature for when a draft is needed. All-in-all I think it's a great program. Especially for the price and the fact that it can run well on a basic computer (I had it running on a Pentium machine with 4gb of RAM and a low end graphics card!). I'm not affiliated with Autodesk or any of the Fusion development/advertising team, I just really like to use the program and i do nearly every day. -
I've had this sort of idea stewing around in my head for a while now. An actual realistic "game" about WWII. (Yeah I know, there's already tons of those out there.) Now I'm no gamer (but I like to play games) but what I'm talking about is not like COD. Well, sort of but not really. I'm kind of talking about combining COD, WOT, WarThunder and any untold number of games with the history books, orders of battle, eye witness accounts, etc - To make one game that can be very realistic to replicate actual fighting from WWII. From the sands of Tunisia to the streets Berlin; from the jungles of the Philippines to the beaches of Okinawa (gee, starts and ends with sand, I wonder if that tells you something..). I have many ideas for this if anyone can help. Since many of us here are pretty good on the history aspect it'd be pretty neat to get this community involved if anything happens, which I doubt although would be nice.

I'm wondering if anyone could do The Jacob K. Javits Centere from New York City. It's convention center in the Hell's Kitchen section of Manhattan. It has over 1.8mil sq. ft. of total area space and over 840k sq. ft. of floor space. It is home to many annual events like the NY Boat Show and the NY International Auto Show. It houses many other events through out the year as well. It utilizes a space frame construction and, as you can see, is pretty much completely covered in glass except for a few areas. From pictures I see there looks to be a small dock and/or a small heliport in the rear of the entire building as well. I believe that that this could be utilized as a large convention center in the game and could bring many medium and high wealth CO and CS to a city along with a lot of high tech industry as they would want to get products out to showcase during various conventions and shows. Plus it looks good in my mind . It could also have a number of CS and CO jobs alone. Links! Links! Anyway to change the start screen background?
MikeyBugs95 posted a topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
I have Cities of Tomorrow in my game but when I open the game, and it loads, that screen that tells me if I'm Single Player or Online mode has this horrible background animation (at least in my opinion). I've never seen the regular SimCity background so I'm wondering if there's a way to bring that up instead of having that Drab, bland Cities of Tomorrow background. Actually I just did a quick search and found it. This is what I'm talking about: I'd prefer to have that over that CoT one. -
First constant now occasional self-minimizing
MikeyBugs95 posted a topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
I recently got the game (SimCity 2013) and then installed it on my laptop (HP Pavilion Dv7 (~2 years old; Windows 7; 64Mb of VRAM while minimum is 256Mb, otherwise everything is fine) and ran it. When it first started loading up it the game went into a fit of self-minimizing. It stopped after a couple of minimizations. Then everything was fine until I got into my own city and started laying road. Then the game minimized and wouldn't stop. That was Jan. 3. Fast forward to Jan. 4 (yesterday) and I install the game on my old desktop (at least 5 years old) which runs Windows 7. It has 1.4 Gb (.7 less than the minimum) of RAM, an unsupported graphics card (GeForce 6200) and an unsupported CPU (Intel Pentium 4 2.40GHz). Yet this old machine runs this new game perfectly, well, as perfectly as on might expect for have a single core processor when a dual core is needed with not enough RAM and an unsupported graphics card... In other words, it was slow and kinda choppy but it worked. No crashes, no minimizes, nothing. So I wondered if this computer can run this game, why couldn't my laptop? I attributed it to an broken install. I repaired the game and now it runs perfectly. Except for 2 hiccups where it self-minimized again probably an 30 minutes to an hour into game start but since then it hasn't misbehaved (I ran it for about 2 hours until turning it off at 11:30). So, I'm no computer whiz. I only know this stuff about the CPU because if what my dad tells me and I looked up my computer's' specs. So I'm wondering what might actually be the cause of these self-minimizations as I call them. Any help? -

Well... It's going again... I tried starting the game but it kept minimizing during when loading. -

Yeah, to me it's just plain annoying, that CoT background. I wouldn't care if the background didn't have any animations or was completely animated, as long as it isn't the Cities of Tomorrow background. -
SimCity (2013) Official Mod Request Thread
MikeyBugs95 replied to Cockatoo's topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
Yeah. Thats kind of what I'm talking bout. A small-er police station with a court house. If any of have seen the Andy Griffith Show you'll probably understand it better. But I think it should be slight upgradeable. Not to the extent that other structures in the game can be but somewhat upgrade able. Add in a courthouse or offices on top. 1 or 2 more jail cells. Something along those lines. I'm kind of going to try to make Mayberry (from the Andy Griffith Show) in the game. -
So, just like the title says, is there anybody else here who builds model kits? If so, what are your mainly interested in building and what are you working on right now? Any stash pictures or pictures of previous work? Any WIPs?

Also how about some sheriff offices? If we just want a small town why not have some small police stations? A sheriff office and some smaller stations would be nice. -
New SimCity player. Need people to learn from. Not on all the time
MikeyBugs95 posted a topic in SimCity (2013) Region Games
I'm new to this one game so I'd like to try to start a region with some people who know what they're doing so that they might be able to help try to guide me and answer some questions I may have. Like this, are you able to have more than one multi-player region? I'm not on constantly, although I'll try , as I'm in college (and my parents aren't too fond of SimCity stemming from my obsession with SC4) but I will definitely be playing the game quite a bit. I'm not sure the server but I'm in the Northeast US. New York to be exact. -
Woo! Just got the game and LOVE it! Incredible!

I am a huge fan of SC4 so when I heard this game was coming... I was raring to get it. Unfortunately I couldn't afford it until EA offered a 50% discount on the Complete Edition that I got it. Had some trouble trying to play it at first but I finally got it running. I kept telling myself that I wouldn't get addicted to it but now that I've played it, it looks like that won't hold true. I already have one city of over 60k and now I see to expand to other cities. My sister is a big fan of The Sims series (I also tried playing it once before too, not my style) so when she and I both saw the game, we instantly on thought of the Sims... I keep saying that if EA and Maxis would make a combined game that they'd have a hit. Either way, I love the game now (even though the laptop and desktop I have it on aren't really suitable for the game...) and my time will definitely be a bit more full now... I'll be trying to make a city log here like I tried with SC4 but failed miserably at. Right now I'll also be posting a problem in the Problems forum as I do have one.. Or two.. -

Sort of like Mikeseiths 1960's automata? I've been thinking about asking that too. I'd like to see a mod for cars ranging from the 30's to the early 80's as well. -

I won't discuss the not mentioned as I have neither the time nor desire to do so. The STEX only has 347 mods for SC13. How many are for SC4? 500? 1,000? 10,000? The answer is 18,324. That means that the SC4 section has 52.807 times as many mods as the SC13 section so far. I do not doubt that when modding for SC4 was new, mods also came out at a blistering pace And SC4 was released in 2003... Technology has increased and the computers and tech from that time have been so vastly surpassed by the tech from today. The game most likely is not compatible with the hardware you have in your computer. For me, it runs fine on my 2 year old laptop. SC13 has problems running on my laptop. It minimizes constantly and progressively rubs slower the bigger my city gets. 11-12 years from, someone will probably be saying that SC13 is also horribly unoptimized. I have Win7 on my laptop, by the way. -
I think my name is MikeyBugs95. Not sure though. Although it is a funny story as to how I got both my forum names and nicknames.

I think Xenocity is being a bit harsh. It's a good game all in game. Broken? Not really. The game is highly playable from the start. It's just an older sim and now it's showing its age. Still a very good game though. Unlike SC2013, cities aren't not too dependent on each other to thrive, you could have an entire region on 15 or more cities and only play one and you'll be able to have a fully functional and active and growing city. Yes, it is always better to have more cities around it as it benefits all in the long run but it isn't as pertinent as in SC2013. Like crishy said SC4 is by far, a more creative sim as you can terraform regions and cities, you could use create your own regions, you could plant forests, and basically do a lot more. And yes you also have the YEARS of user made content. But also given the same amount of time, there may be a similar amount of custom content available for SC13. In SC4,you are more restricted to a grid playstyle but it can be overcome easily by creative placement. Unfortunately, as your city develops, it'll spawn buildings of "random" types all over the place. A few will not spawn randomly and will just start spawning, literally, everywhere. But, you also get to place your own sim in the game and watch them live their lives through a 3/4 view on the world of SimCity! I believe that, frankly, each game has its highs and lows and middles. In my opinion one game makes up for what the other lacks. In SC4 you get to be creative with land while in SC13 you get to be creative with road placement. Whereas one is a crisper sim, the other gets much bigger regions. Where one has a better UI, the other had some more zoning options with agriculture. Each one seems to have a high point where the other has a low point. -

*Regemonix. But I'm getting a little jumpy on one of my regions (I only have 2) because one guy keeps sending me omega...-_- I dunno if it's on purpose or its an uncontrollable thing but either way I'm not too thrilled with it. -
Well I guess it's high time I tell about my small part. I build primarily 1/35 Armor, and the occasional 1/48 aircraft. I also do like to do some 1/144 stuff. Currently I'm working on a 1/48 Smer Piper L-4, an Italeri 105mm Howitzer, and a Testors WC-51. I have a small stash of only about 8 kits.
