  1. Kellydale2003's BAT Mine

Incredible work as always! One thing to note though: most downtown Toronto streets have continuous streetwalls because each tower has podiums of 3-9 stories tall. I was wondering if you could do condo and office towers with podiums (usually occupied by retail). There are not many podium-tower complexes on the STEX, and certainly none that I can remember from Toronto (they also look more realistic IMO).

Looks great, and familiar... Warden Vivastation by MafaldaBoy on flickr Here's the whole set of photos of the BRT system being built in York Region, just north of Toronto, Canada.

  4. Hi everyone, I have decided to post this to Simtropolis to gain the interest and the opinions of the city-planners that I'm sure are out there somewhere... So this is the problem; I'm in charge of a project that calls for a design of a shopping mall in Australia. This will be a fairly large shopping centre - it will most likely contain a few attractions such as a ferris wheel and (perhaps) a small roller-coaster. My project manager has a few conditions though: - The shopping centre should probably be placed in a suburban area, not too far from a major city, but not to close to possibly competing shopping centres - It MUST be in a suburban area on the EAST coast of the country, outside cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, e.t.c. - The mall SHOULD be nearby a reliable transportation source, such as a highway or subway route I would greatly appreciate the help of the people who live near east-coast cities of Australia, and I am hoping to generate some ideas about the shopping mall's location. Thanks again!
  5. Perhaps, yes, but having a speedy transportation system which combines automobiles and mass transit together can also be an option. Relying on an automobile-free society isn't the most cost-effective, or efficient.

  8. Hello everyone, I created this topic to see what other peoples' point of views are about what should exist in a "perfect city". When I say perfect, I mean kind of like a utopia #a realistic utopia#, that something that you would want to live in. You can comment on all types of city-related subjects, like transit, location of residents, shops, offices, etc., indoor/outdoor civic activities, and other things such as eco-friendlines. Some of my suggestions to a "Perfect City" are: TRANSIT: Eco-friendly vehicle fleet Efficient and frequent service #i.e. 5 minutes or so# Less dependant on automobiles Cost-effective GREENERY: Lots of trees and careful landscaping Lots of parks that are placed close together DEVELOPMENT: Prevention of "dark chasm of towers" effect Have a set length between tall buildings Reasonably spaced civic amenities and educational facilities Not too compact, yet not too laid out Of course, these are just some suggestions to a somewhat perfect utopia. If you're reading this, please share your comments and/or suggestions about this topic.
