Simtropolis Q&A about Cities: Skylines with Paradox Interactive
ColdMoney21 replied to Dirktator's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Have you guys gotten a computer with integrated graphics and tried to see if the game runs on it? Intel HD Graphics 4000 runs SimCity 2013 fine and has native support for DirectX 11. Not everyone has a gaming machine unless it was aimed to that crowd. I was gonna preorder it but I may have to wait until someone buys it and tries it on an Intel GPU.- 91 Replies

With Maxis Closing, what impact does that have on SC2013?
ColdMoney21 replied to macscfan's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I don't think the SimCity IP is dead just yet. "Today we are consolidating Maxis IP development to our studios in Redwood Shores, Salt Lake City, Helsinki and Melbourne locations as we close our Emeryville location. Maxis continues to support and develop new experiences for current Sims and SimCity players, while expanding our franchises to new platforms and developing new cross-platform IP." I still believe we might get a new SimCity for PC, but not anytime soon. Some of Maxis employees might get transferred to those studios instead while others I guess decide to move on out of the Sims franchise. Or EA decides to get a new developer on board that can handle these types of simulations. I mean if a small team at Colossal Order can do it, I don't see why anyone else can't. -
Woo! Just got the game and LOVE it! Incredible!

I don't know about you guys about building real working cities but I love cheating in this game. I just play it for fun. An example of traffic in LA in SimCity. I can hear the sims rage and honk continously. I admit though Maxis did a good job with the huge amount of cars in the game. -
High elevated freeway to lower elevated freeway?
ColdMoney21 posted a topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
So I'm trying to basically connect a high elevated freeway to a lower elevated freeway but its just not possible. Why can't I connect a high elevated freeway to a lower elevated freeway? Am I doing something wrong or is there a strategy to do this? UDoN has an elevated to ground but not elevated to lower or higher tool. -

High elevated freeway to lower elevated freeway?
ColdMoney21 replied to ColdMoney21's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
Thanks CapTon, it seems that it was possible to do it in older releases of UDoN but was removed from UDoN 1.8 so its not possible here but they are saying that it may return in UDon 1.9. Hopefully it does. -
Maxis/E.A. has been too quiet
ColdMoney21 replied to Snorp09's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Can Maxis release some sort of modding tools for modders if they ever want to? I mean if they don't plan on updating it anymore, that's the least they can do. Imagine creating custom regions and the possiblity of having one huge city within this region? Sure it may lag the crap out but still nice to be able to do something like that. From the game we can see that they create regions and then they map out where the cities are gonna be. I'm not sure if they are also able to change the city size though. -
Status of SimCity: Updates & Developments

Someone from Maxis said it was a fix for the installation process. No updates were made to the game. Bummer really. -

Anyone know what this new update did? Origin asked me to update the game. I think its 10.2 but there is no mention of it anywhere -

ColdMoney21 replied to roro13soso's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
So the update that I got today was 10.1? Wasn't that released in May? It told me that a new update was available to me today but there is no mention of it anywhere. -

I figured out how this mod works now. The camera is a bit funky lol but in order to zone outside the normal boundaries, you have to have RCI Plop mod. So you have to manually plop houses, commercial buidlings, etc from the Government menu. You can't use the normal house, commercial, industry zoning tools. I didn't know this. Now I can make progress in my city lol. This is great!

Actually all city boxes of Cape Trinity have this problem. The camera will always have a fixed border when moving north. Hopefully this can be fixed or somehow enable some sort of free roam camera. It works. Basically play a new region, pick a city box, let the city load and save it. Then quit the game and restart it. Then click resume and the borders should now increase. To plot outside the original boundary you have to use region roads in the roads menu. Does not work ... I do all the process, restart the game several times and all attempts, the city limits remain unchanged. When I extracted the mods in SimCityData folder, another folder was created with the name "Project Orion - 3k Extended Boundary" and inside that folder has a 7KB file with the same name. Simply does not work, the city limits do not expand ... Someone help me =( I want to play big cities! =( How did you install this mod? Did you get all 3 package files and pasted them in the SimCityData folder? The mods can't be inside a folder in the SimCityData folder.

Maxis/E.A. has been too quiet
ColdMoney21 replied to Snorp09's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Indeed it was Project Orion Project Orion is the best mod that has come out from the modding community. Now my garbage and sewer plants can be even farther away from my nice and clean town lol. If Maxis decides to make another SimCity in the next 10 years, by that time SimCity 2013 will probably be completely modded just like SimCity 4. I do hope that they make a new SimCity though with huge improvements with the glassbox engine, performance, and better modding capabilites. Or they can announce a true sucessor of SimCity 4 and have it all complicated lol. -
SImcity random lag, when change tilt shift setting, lag stops for no reason
ColdMoney21 replied to ac143's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
I've been having a similar issue. Yes for like the first 30 minutes or so its running fine but at one point there is this lag every 7-10 seconds. Runs smooth, then it stutters, and runs smooth again. The pattern repeats. In my case the problem is called a lag spike wherer the processor for some reason lowers its clock speed and increases its clock speed and does it again and again. This transition causes these lags. But i'm not sure if its SimCity itself or my computer. -
SC 2013 - Bigger Maps Mod - Progression Error
ColdMoney21 replied to Wastedfun's topic in SimCity (2013) Modding - Open Discussion
In order to make bigger cities, shouldn't the region map be built for that? For example is it possible to somehow import a completely flat region onto SimCity and start a city from anywhere with no boundaries? I've seen videos where people are plotting outside the boundaries on pre made regions but the graphics are all glitches up. (Roads look wierd) -
Well I just recently installed SimCity 4 Deluxe on my Windows 7 PC. Installation went smoothly and then i installed the EP1 and EP2 updates. Currently I'm running SimCity 4 in the maximum settings using hardware rendering and a resolution of 1280x1024. When I start to make my city, i notice that when i build a road, the road is invisible (i still see the construction cars and people) when its in construction but once a section is done it appears. The road doesn't appear transparent like it should be when its in construction. Then i start seeing cars turning invisible in some areas (sometimes i only see their wheels). I'm not sure why that happens. Then I have an issue where transparent buildings turn invisible. For example if i want to plant a powerplant (its transparent at first) and if i start moving the transparent building around, some parts turn invisible. *I posted some images of the problem. (If that helps)* *I also installed the DirectX Web Installer. (That didn't help)* *I also tryed SimCity 4 in compatibility mode. (That didn't help)* *I ran SimCity 4 in Software rendering mode. (Made the game even worse)* Well is there anything i can do to fix this? Would it help to change settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel? Or is there nothing i can do about it? SimCity 4 Graphics Problem (Windows 7)

Originally posted by: TomSe001 Try using 191.07 drivers instead. They were the only drivers in the 19x range that worked well for me and SC4.quote> Hey thanks! Finally, I can enjoy SimCity 4 without those wierd graphic bugs. SimCity 4 runs great now! But I still wonder why would the new graphics card drivers mess up the game? Strange. And I also thought that new graphics cards should run old games like nothing. Oh well. I'm happy now Originally posted by: DPMorse Have you tried turning off visual themes for the game? (right-click on the icon and choose properties. In the Compatibility tab check the Disable visual themes box) quote> Actually if you run Windows 7, usually it automatically changes the theme to windows aero basic when you run a game. Its a cool feature. -
SimCity 4 Graphics Problem (Windows 7)
ColdMoney21 replied to ColdMoney21's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Originally posted by: yunxiang I'm 90% sure this is a graphics card driver issue. Incidentally, I have the same graphics card as you (except it's the mobile version). I have no problems running the game. I also have all the settings set the same as you as far as I can tell (I have some other settings and a few that you have I don't have). What's your Forceware version? (Click on "System Information" on the NVIDIA Settings window you've showed us) I've heard that there are problems in running the game with some of the newer ones. I'm currently using version 156.69, the same that came with my computer. You can try and see if that one works, or try updating the drivers to the latest version. One final thing; From what I recall, Windows Vista and 7 are a bit of a memory hog. You should try and install some more RAM.quote> Well currently my GeForce 8400 GS version is 196.21. Its pretty up to date. Unless this is the reason why i'm having trouble with SimCity 4. I'm not sure if the drivers is what's causing this but if your saying that you have the same GeForce 8400 GS card with version 156.69 as your drivers and that SimCity 4 is running great, then that means i need to install those drivers and that might fix the problem. Hmm. i might try that. -
