  1. DSC - Passenger - Class 380 ScotRail

    Version 1.1.0

    385 Downloads

DESCRIPTION The Class 380 is an electric multiple-unit, currently operated by ScotRail in Scotland. There is one locomotive, and two passenger carriages. The 'DSC_380ScotRail_CRep' replaces the default Maxis carriage, and 'DSC_380ScotRail_C1' is an additional carriage featuring a pantograph. All models have nightlighting and HD textures. INSTALLATION Drag all files into the plugins folder. Remove 'DSC_380ScotRail_C1' if you prefer not to have the pantograph model. COMPATIBILITY The engine and replacement carriage will replace the Maxis vanilla passenger and freight trains. As with most passenger train automata, mixing and matching between different sets will create inconsistent results, it is recommended to only use this set by itself. As this is an HD model/automata, please use Hardware Rendering to avoid any issues. DEPENDENCIES This mod has no dependencies.

Getting closer to the class 380 being completed. Nightlighting and the carriage to do yet. EDIT: We have nightlighting.
  3. dragonsteincole's Workshop

It's not exactly one of my prettier screenshots, but I managed to edit the existing Train Generators to work with the Monorail and Elevated Rail. These should allow me to test other routes and automata in the future.
  4. dragonsteincole's Workshop

@Terring I'm quite happy to give those a go, they all look varied enough to be made. A request to anyone in general - are there any 'train generators' in the style of the Passenger or Freight Generators for other networks, such as GLR or Monorail/El-Rail/High-Speed Rail? I don't think I have a way to consistently generate trains for testing for these networks.
  5. dragonsteincole's Workshop

Work was a little slower due to some other projects away from SimCity, but progress is being made on the current WIPs. The Class 380 cab above is quite a complex shape but I think i've made a good approximation with it. And any crimes can be hidden with the texture. The Class 08 is progressing well too. Still to complete the texture but having fun along the way.

I have just released Class 156 - Pack 1. I am still working on the other ScotRail request, but I decided there was no advantage to waiting to release these Class 156s. I've labelled this 'Pack 1' as i'm sure there will be similar packs released in the future. I have also been updating the descriptions for the other mods, adding installation instructions and generally tidying up/clarifying some information. No other changes have been made so no need to redownload.

The Class 37s is probably going to be a big collection for the sheer number of different liveries it could use. Having looked over the references kindly provided by Morgan R, and with some of my own looking around, I'd like to make the following: BR Green - All green, split headcode - Yellow ends, split headcode BR Blue - Yellow ends, blank headcodes - BR Big Logo version Intercity Regional Railways Railfreight - 'General' - 'Red stripe' EWS Europhoenix Colas Rail Frieght Direct Rail Services Loco Haul GIF (Spanish)

Some more trains. First two images are an older Class 156 ScotRail livery, and it's nightlighting (featuring the little illuminated destination board on the front). And the last image is a Regional Railways version.
  9. dragonsteincole's Workshop

Working on the first Scotrail request, and in the process i've been tweaking the carriage model that these have been based on. There were some small things I'd noticed, like texture mapping issues, or flat surfaces having a lot of polys, so I've fixed those, and remodeled the gangway/connector ends. This should result in a lower-poly count overall without changing the look. Edit: Nightlighting example, adding some depth to the nightlighting.
  10. dragonsteincole's Workshop

@Morgan R It's modeled on a Class 08 but it could easily be a 09/10/11/12 either way. I chose the 08 because there are just an abundance of liveries for those classes. @Terring Fictional/high-tech/futuristic trains would be accepted, but would require more visual references to be provided by whoever requests them. @Whte_rbt I can add the Glasgow Subway train to my list, I think the 'camo' livery would stand out well.
  11. dragonsteincole's Workshop

@Whte_rbt Those were the two liveries I had in mind, but I was wanting to make sure. I think the sloped front will be fun to implement.

I have just released the Class 91 Pack, including Intercity 225 and LNER Mk4 Carriages. This is one of the larger packs released, as it features three trains, and two sets of 4 and 3 carriages.
  14. Show us What you're Working On

Added some variants to the Intercity carriages (1st class (Replacement), 2nd class, Buffet and Sleeper) and adjusted the Class 91 model a little more. Added night-lighting to each carriage variant too, to get a set i'm quite happy with. Second livery is the LNER/Virgin Intercity variation. This will have only three carriage types. These will probably be released in the next day or so, barring any further additional liveries being made/suggested.
  15. Show us What you're Working On

Will ponder this for a day or so, but I think this is close to being released as it is. Although I am probably going to end up making another skin or possibly two. I also thought about making a High-Speed Rail version too. Certainly this may be just as welcome there.
  16. Show us What you're Working On

I will probably include 2 versions, with the pantograph either raised or not, depending on people's rail networks. EDIT: Might need to play around with the size and scale a bit, it doesn't look quite right. But being in the game at all is a good start
  17. Show us What you're Working On

Working on a Class 91 Intercity as requested. Made pretty good progress today. added textures to the pantograph (which will be extended towards the end) and took a more SC4-like angle, which looks quite good. Still got the roof, wheel bogies and equipment boxes to go.

I have just released the Southern (GTR) EMU! They fit in well in downtown/suburban settings as dark roof/light roof versions, or running with a mix of both. @WolfZe Thank you for commenting! I will add that to the list @Morgan R Thanks for commenting! I agree there is a lack of British train automata around which is why I'm making my own. As for the recommendations, I would be tempted most by the Class 43, as with the Class 91/DVT i'd like to get some Intercity liveries done at the least, and then 1 or two variations for each. I can certainly try and make some coach models at some point. I'm currently pondering the Class 40, as visually it's very similar to the Class 55, and the Class 37, with the latter having more liveries that could translate well into game (ala the Class 33), so i'm not sure which one to pick over the others. As for the steam trains, i'm not sure of what my limitations are in modelling them, and also i'm unsure of how their animations work, so if there is any resource available on that, it'd be most welcome, and could open up more opportunities in the future. @Bobelboy Thanks for commenting! I'll add this to the list. At this point I will not be closing requests, and people are free to continue requesting, but consider that the list is growing quite long so there will not be a quick turnaround for these.
  19. DSC - Passenger - Southern (GTR) EMU

DESCRIPTION This is a Southern (Govia Thameslink Railway) EMU from the UK, a current operator that ran services in the South East of England. Running into and out of London, and had the most dissatisfied passengers in Britain three years in a row, according to the national rail passenger surveys 2016, 2017 and 2018. Hopefully your sims will find more satisfaction! There are two different liveries - a 'Dark Roof' and a 'Light Roof', consisting of one locomotive, and three carriages. All models have night-lighting and HD textures. INSTALLATION Drag either the 'Dark Roof Version' or 'Light Roof Version' into your plugins folder. COMPATIBILITY Both versions will replace the Maxis vanilla passenger trains individually. Using both sets at the same time is possible with some conditions. 'DSC_Southern_Engine_DE' and 'DSC_Southern_Engine_LE' are the locomotives for each version. These will replace the default Maxis locomotive. Choose one. 'DSC_Southern_DRep' and 'DSC_Southern_LRep' will replace the default Maxis passenger carriage. Choose one. The other carriage files can be used individually or all together, they have unique IIDs so they will not overwrite each other. Please use Hardware rendering mode when using these automata. DEPENDENCIES This mod has no dependencies. The original carriage model is kindly provided by Girafe and used with his permission.

I am taking requests to make/model trains for SimCity 4. I hope to work through the list as I get them, so feel free to make a request, if you could provide the name/class and a photo of the train in question, I would give it my best

I have just released the Network SouthEast EMU! These were the first files I started working on, as I've wanted to recreate some of the rolling stock and trains I used to see local to me in the 90s. @Tyberius06 Thank you for posting. I will probably work on just one of those suggestions at firstso as not to burn out doing a lot of one livery. I'll probably go for the 165 Networker as it has a different enough 'face' to stand out first. For the Scotrail train, there is a big difference between the old Scotrai lliveries, and the more modern ones. If you could narrow it down a bit further to something then I should be able to work something out @juguesal Thank you for posting, this looks simple enough so I will add it to the list. I am hoping to work in the order these are requested so I may not get around to it immediately, but I will work towards this as best I can
  22. DSC - Passenger - Network SouthEast EMU

    Version 1.0.0

DESCRIPTION This is a Network SouthEast EMU from the UK, one of the former companies that ran services in the UK during Nationalisation. Their primary working location was the South East of England, running into and out of London. There are four different designs. One locomotive, and three carriages. They will replace the Maxis vanilla passenger trains, and as with all passenger train mods, you can only use one at a time. All models have nightlighting and HD textures. The original carriage model is kindly provided by Girafe and used with his permission. DEPENDENCIES None

I have released the Class 33s and the Passenger Carriages. I'm nervous about having missed something obvious but I'm also relieved to have finally made and uploaded something for SimCity 4, after so many many years of enjoying the game and the content others have made for it. I'm happy to finally try and give something back.

NOTICE! This file has been superseded by the following mod. I will not remove this mod but recommend you check this mod out for a wider variety of coaching stock. ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION This is a pack of three British Rail carriages in BR Blue and white livery. These and many variants were seen across the entire British Rail network. There are three different designs - 1st class, 2nd class, and a Restaurant/Buffet car. Use all three for best results, and add some variety to your passenger trains. All models have night-lighting and HD textures. INSTALLATION Drag the 'Passenger Carriage - British Rail Blue' folder into your plugins folder. These carriages are best used in conjunction with my 'DSC - Passenger and Freight - Class 33' mod, which adds some appropriate locomotives. COMPATIBILITY These will replace the Maxis Passenger carriage ONLY. As with most passenger automata, it is not recommended to mix different sets, as results will vary. Please use Hardware rendering mode when using these automata. DEPENDENCIES This mod has no dependencies. The original carriage model is kindly provided by Girafe and used with his permission.
  25. Show us What you're Working On

There's now 5 total styles for the Class 33 locomotive. There are passenger and freight versions that will be included, although the EWS and DRS locos are not used for passenger trains in real life. I think this is where I will 'lock' the new features for this Class 33 loco and the passenger carriages, so hopefully the pack will be released within the week.
