18 pointsFinalizing nightlights and fine texture details, I had to get rid of the solar panels, it was causing some weird texture ids bugs (inclusive on the duplex house), and increasing the render time more than 3 minutes. I guess it was something to do with Final Gather calculations interactions with the solar panel model.

13 years ago, I uploaded Generic Office Pack #1, which was initially supposed to contain five buildings. I only wound up including two of them, although @gutterclub did kindly finish off a third recently. I never really expected there to be a part two, but here we are. This pack contains 15 models; an orthogonal, diagonal, and FAR version of 5 different buildings. All versions have different IIDs, so they can be used at the same time. The orthogonal versions are available in both growable and ploppable varieties, all sit on either 5x6 or 6x6 lots, and provide between 174 and 466 CO$$ jobs. The diagonal and FAR versions are available in overhanging ploppable 1x1 lots, which provide the same number of jobs. I have also included prop exemplars for all models for your convenience. Both Darknite and Maxisnite versions are provided for all models. Only one may be used at a time. The Darknite version requires SimFox's Day and Nite Modd. Dependencies (for the orthogonal lots only): SuperSHK MEGA Parking Textures SHK Parking Pack BSC Common Dependencies Pack (specifically CP Vol01 and CP Vol02) The diagonal and FAR versions have no dependencies. I initially learned how to BAT so I could make generic buildings like this. I like this particular group because they all fall just short of being boring. Enjoy! -

1 pointT480 or A485. $200 should suffice. I wish I can recommend newer laptops, like the Asus V16 and K16. The problem is, RAM prices. It's still happening. I wish it should stop. But, we can't afford it right now. So, used laptops are the best options.

Based on a real building in Detroit, Michigan. Information: There are two lots included in this upload. Both are growable on the Chicago and New York tilesets. The first is a growable 1x2 Stage 6 R$$ lot with Maxis props. The second is a growable 1x2 Stage 6 R$$ lot with AGC Props. Installation: Copy/extract the content of this folder into your Plugins. Dependencies: You will need to download AGC Buildings RWS DLC for the Model file: The AGC growable requires three (3) AGC Prop packs, for Street Props, Flora and Automobiles: Credits: I only did the lotting, modding and testing. The refined modeling, texturing and lighting are by AGC / Barroco Hispano. 1 pointPrey Time It’s time to find some prey! Luckiy, the forests around Lake Felis provide plenty of prey for the feline population. Small game, like yummy chipmunks and such, along with big game, such as deer and moose (squirrel sold separately) as well as plenty of stinky fish give the obligate carnivores the snacks they need. To serve the itinerant population, there are hunting lodges scattered about as well as an inn and a stable. There’s even a catnip farm. Let’s explore the countryside… then maybe catch some dinner! For context, Lake Felis is the large, cat-shaped freshwater lake at the center of the country. These pictures of the countryside are courtesy of Age of Empires III. There's plenty of tasty prey in the forest, even along the main road out of town This deer is "sleeping..." This stable is a great gathering place for prey animals. You can ride them or chase them. Saddles sold separately... You can always spend the night or have a meal at the Dew Drop Inn, located at the base of Walton's Mountain Climb a tree for a better view! This feline chapel is open anytime you need to stop by Oh, deer! Found some nice weasels to pounce on too! The catnip farm is there in case you need something green The waters of Lake Felis are chock full of fish; the stinkiest kind that cats love. Tuna, salmon, sardine... it's all here! Hunting lodges dot the countryside and are a purr-fect place to take a nap after a long day of stalking, pouncing, and other feline activities. Each comes with plenty of windows to look out of! I made some changes to the FSH files for 2 of the WMP ferry terminal models being used in the lot. 2. Also made some changes to the barrier position inside the "Nams PROP Pack Vol 2.dat". So, if you have any plugins that use those specific props (I haven't found any yet), you might see some minor issues. Enjoy, and here's the gameplay if you want to see it being used in my city.

1 pointNext model that I`m working on. I haven`t finished the model, it`s still pending the final detailing, but I already started testing the polycarbonate material that I plan to use on the brisè (sort of), kind of liked the result. The previous project, the duplex house, its already finished. I`m too lazy to finish the final steps of the lot editing, but I plan to post it on this weekend maybe.

1 pointIt just asks the weather simulator for the current season. The season calculation is fairly basic, it just divides the month number (0-11) by 3 and adjusts for the hemisphere. Replicating that calculation gives the following table: Northern Hemisphere: January - Winter (0) February - Winter (0) March - Winter (0) April - Spring (1) May - Spring (1) June - Spring (1) July - Summer (2) August - Summer (2) September - Summer (2) October - Fall (3) November - Fall (3) December - Fall (3) Southern Hemisphere: January - Summer (2) February - Summer (2) March - Summer (2) April - Fall (3) May - Fall (3) June - Fall (3) July - Winter (0) August - Winter (0) September - Winter (0) October - Spring (1) November - Spring (1) December - Spring (1) As the game doesn't show the season in the UI, that calculation was probably a close enough approximation. IIRC SC3KU uses the same calculation. Regarding SC3K, someone posted part of the design documents for the 3D version of SC3K to the ST Discord (GURU.pdf in the sc3k-and-older channel). In the unlikely event a build still exists, I doubt anyone who has it would be eager to share due to how easy it would be for EA to narrow down potential sources. As much as I would like to get my hands on an internal development build of SC4, those will probably never be leaked for the same reason. AFAIK Maxis has only had a handful of internal builds leak, Sim Copter, one or two early Sims games, and Spore at the end of last year.

This is a mostly accurate recreation of an office complex in the Nanshan District of Shenzhen, China. The real building is a complex of three towers connected together at the lower levels, and has a perforated metal facade. My version is modified to only include one of the towers, the facade is not perforated, and there are a few other small changes. 4x3 growable CO§§§ for the Euro tileset. MaxisNite and DarkNite versions included. DarkNite requires the Day and Nite Modd. -
1 pointI just play the game. I don't really think about all this stuff. I'm having fun haha Yes the easy part is done- now it's mountaineering time. I've become pretty experienced with a lot of past projects by now but I'm sure it will throw a few curve balls for me. The routing- I want it to get to the edge of my region and connect to SimNation. I have a freeway route already- not sure if the rail lines will parallel it much however.
-
1 pointThere is also a Started a petition for EA to release SimCity 4 source code topic on r/SimCity that attracted the attention of a former Maxis artist who worked on SC4 (u/vertexnormal). They mention in the topic that they have copies of all the art source material (and possibly pre-release builds mentioned in another topic), but didn't grab the code and are not sure if EA still has copies. There is also a comment on the building/bridge creation which is a fun read. While I know there is no chance of those pre-release builds ending up in public, especially since someone publicly admitted to possibly having them. IMO that would be a close second to the actual source code in terms of the number of things that could be discovered. I expect some of those internal builds may have things like: Ingred and all the related editors active with the proper file layout. Full Windows debug symbols (and perhaps even a full debug build, which would limit compiler magic). Plus a ton of other possibilities depending on the specific build, like getting a build with the original intended traffic simulator before they altered it to run on low-spec machines.

1 pointI was messing around with making the best HRW tunnel I could make using monorail. Then I was looking at old photos from my 2018 city and I had an idea to dig out the old Bullet Train mod and after a couple of hours of trying things out I figured out how to make a fully functioning AND aesthetically pleasing HRW tunnel. (Actually I am not sure it's HRW, possibly just HSR trains can pass through, have to test it out more). I was kind of amazed that this worked so well and although not necessarily workable for tight-space tunnels as it takes a bit of space to integrate L0 trackage, it would work if you had to tunnel under a mountain or half of Manhattan and the east river... And I also had not seen this particular HSR train in quite a while, I forgot how nice it was. The old picture that gave me the idea to try this out. I had always wanted to see a bullet train come screaming out of this tunnel but it never happened. I might get there now though.

1 point@Fargo Looking good so far! I think you're almost done with the windows/blinds. The reflections, transparency, and window tint seem fine to me for now. But I couldn't ignore how bright your blinds seem. So after making a few adjustments in Photoshop, I think if you reduce the brightness of the blinds by 23%, you get a more realistic feel. I hope you can ignore the attempt at overlaying 2 different sized versions . Anyway here's the result: (Day only)

1 pointThe new mod that allows you to place props directly on the network is just amazing. Satisfaction increaser. Fun amplifier. Force multiplier. I had been wanting to get the GLR crossing of passenger rail more aesthetically pleasing and in line with my other rails. I know at this time there is no way to make the EL cross true hybrid railway tracks but in this case these tracks carry only passenger rail although I try to create as close to a 100% hybrid network as is possible. Once I hunted down the offending track textures and got those in line, I was still left with something less than pleasing. Using the prop placement mod though, I was able to add the catenary wires as eye candy along with a looks-like-it-belongs-there center support - the one from the El-Rail over road plugin. What a difference this makes. The last part of this project is to try to figure out if it's possible to get rid of the mis-matched support on the right or at least change it use a different, more aesthetically matched prop. BTW, it is so good to have things up and running, I know multiple people had to work hard to make this happen and I don't know exactly who to name but definitely my thanks. I found that without the ability to show and talk about what I am working on and see what amazing things everyone else is creating and building, the fun of this is just a little diminished. Reminds us to take nothing for granted.

Good evening Simtropolis, They are on every roadside across America and the world. Ruining landscapes and helping people get lawyers, roadside snacks, and fuel. In this pack I created a mix of realistic and fictional billboards for your cities. In total there are 44 unique billboards. I have separated them into their own folders for your convenience to sort through the ones you may or may not want. A huge thank you to the members that let me use their usernames and BAT businesses for this, it made for some fun spins on things. All have included nitelighting, minus the 2 "abandoned" billboards. Located under the Parks Menu. Requires BSC Textures Vol02 Thank you as always! -
