So. For some reason I started down the track-texture-tinkering rabbit hole this afternoon which at one point even included changing the coloration of my terrain base a bit. That proved just too much though and most of the 20 or so experimental textures are no good. And also this is maybe the 4th time I've jumped into this particular rabbit hole lol. I did find something I sort of like though, a faded and washed version of what I had come up with previously which in itself was only the standard RRW coloration darkened by 20 points. And I have to give the textures code names to even keep track of what I'm doing. This is the one (or in Julian code RRW3D20F1) that I really like. The other contender is that same texture just 12 points darker (or for those of you who were paying attention RRW3D20F1D12), this is as dark as I thought it could go without starting to look abandoned. (Also, these codes may become important. People have accidents. If someone had to step in and become mayor, or Director of Railroad Track Coloration, my coding system could be very helpful). And finally, just another pic of what I've been using for comparison. Which I still like. What to do.

Hi TMC, @CaptCity has already touched on most things, but I'll try to answer the best I can... As Capt said, this was a new feature I added shortly before the site crash. I didn't quite get around to formerly announcing it, and ironically the very day I was planning that, the old server was vaporised into cyberspace. Thankfully though, I kept local backups of all the edits I made to the board software code. I've added back most (if not all) these custom edits I made, including the downloads history feature. The data retained for downloads history will be missing from 01 March to 16 April, the day the site went down. So yes, any downloads you made between this period won't be logged. There is a separate "My Downloads" history table which I'll be unveiling in due course. Here's a sneak peek of that: So that's officially coming soon... Thankfully, the order of downloads won't be affected, since the history data was intact up to the cut-off (01 March). It sill goes back to October 2024 which was when I first implemented the downloads history. This is separate from the "Who downloaded this?" lists on each file. Your own downloads history is now stored indefinitely, unless clearing individual entries (or the whole list), which will be options available on the new My Downloads page. That sure is unusual, and indeed, there aren't restrictions on PNG images for file screenshots (although typically we do prefer JPG for gameplay type images). It makes me wonder if there's a lingering cache with the homepage feed sometimes, and perhaps editing the file helped to update that cache.
  5. 3 points
Yes. I've looked into it and the only files affected by this are the two DLLs by @CasperVg. The simplest course of action is to wait for them to be rehosted on the STEX, so then we can replace the wrong link in the metadata by the new correct link. This looks like an interrupted download of some sort. Deleting the affected file from the cache, like you did, will resolve it.
  6. 3 points
That's good to know. Practically all creators name their creations sufficiently to know what it is. I just add a bit for clarity. Hopefully something can be worked out. This makes me wonder about something else I (and maybe others..?) have seen. A few times (and it seems to be random) the 'New Club Files' listing on the homepage seems to reset to where only one to three items will be listed after previously being full. The rest is blank space. As I've restored club items, the list will fill in as usual, but the previous entries never return. I believe I've seen it four times with time gaps of 2 or 3 days. However, once, it was only a few minutes. Just curious... I just assumed it was a 'hiccup'...
  7. 3 points
@CaptCity No worries! What I have in mind is an either/or check for name OR file size. If one of them matches, it can be considered the same download. Of course, we'd have to watch out for generic names like files.zip and also exclude config.bmp files. Maybe even a small margin of error for file size (as can happen if a zip is re-packaged with different compression). I'll figure something out...
  8. 3 points
Oh ummm... Then this means that, as we restore items, we'll need to be sure to rename things to the exact way they had been? I admit I will often rename a file so that it 'fits' my filing system, aaaaaand I haven't always renamed them when I restore them... They're always close but maybe not exact... Guess I'll have to keep that in mind.
  9. 3 points
That's a very good point actually. Files which have been restored will show as having an "Update Available". This is because the mechanism for file updates is simply a new file version, not cross-checking what used to be present. I'll see what I can do to correct this, since if the file size or file name matches, I can propagate the data. So then anything you'd downloaded which matches a new version, will still show as your latest downloaded release (green label).
  10. 3 points
Could there be however a hiccup caused by the restoration effort? I am not sure but I think I saw the yellow "Update Available" button for files I already have. I concluded that the restored file must have a different upload timestamp. It's not really an issue though.

Just a FYI: On this new file for the game Banished, it shows the Install with sc4pac button: https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/37420-fancy-axe-by-black-liquid/ This happens to be the same file ID as "SC4 Plop and Paint" used back before the site crash. Which was previously: https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/37420-sc4-plop-and-paint/ I recall seeing some other reports of this, so figured best mentioning it too. I'd imagine it's a channel index on the GitHub side which needs correcting?

Riktor's Point is a small peninsula that reaches into Quonock River. It was deemed far enough from the city centre to build an airport: Riktor's Point Aulton, RPA. The airport attracted industry with buildings using all of the scarce space. The first passenger terminal quickly became too small and was refitted as a cargo terminal. Thus the control tower is placed next to the cargo terminal and not the passenger terminal which is newer. The passenger terminal is very busy and will soon be running out of space. Wedged between the runway and the industry on the riverbank, the passenger terminal can only be reached via tunnels Due to the proximity of the river, there is no option for more terminals or a second runway. Plans for a second airport are already being discussed. Aulton is never finished.

Forgot to ask about this the first time around... Are you asking about older versions of things that are sometimes accessible through the 'change log' feature on the STEX listings? Or do you mean the order in which things were uploaded originally and now they are not in the same order? In this case, I believe most of the restoration that has been so far should be in the same order since the listings are still there, but only the files needed to be re-attached. This won't be true as we get to the things that have no listings any more (Feb - April uploads). They won't be in the same order that you might remember since they'll appear to be 'new' ones. So far, however, these have been few, but maybe they're the ones you've noticed. Hope that makes sense...
  16. 2 points
Okay, it looks like the image may have needed to be in the jpg format rather than png. I noticed that it was only one of two in that format, so I made a new one as a jpg file and picked it as the default image. It seems to work. I don't remember if that is the standard requirement or not, but it seems to be in this case. Later: Well, the upload directions give .png files as an acceptable format, and the one used was less than 2MB. So not sure why it didn't work... Need to get @Cyclone Boom on the case... Even Later: The drama continues... As a test I went back and selected the original image and removed the one I had added. Now the upload appears in the homepage listing as it should. Not sure why or what it all means. Guess it just needed a 'kick start'.
  17. 2 points
@Cyclone Boom could give a more accurate answer, but it was one of the several things that were added not too long before the site went down. I believe the current theory is that all those newly added features survived the restoration. So far, at least in my experience they have. As for other possible buggy behavior, again, CB would in the best postion to know the likelihood of that. I guess we just have to keep an eye out.
  18. 2 points
Pretty sure it was. Like you, I've noticed the 'not downloaded' sign for things I do have and only could've gotten from the STEX. Also, looking at the 'Who has downloaded' list, there is a gap from February to now. Later: Oh, that is something I haven't noticed. That is odd. Okay, saw the above Edit...
  19. 2 points
Hi, I noticed that there are "downloaded / not downloaded" markings for each item in the STEX pages. I would like to know if this bookkeeping was also affected by the ST outage? The reason I ask is that some of the items which I clearly have on my drive are not marked downloaded... And I grabbed them roughly around the time when the site was cauterized. There is yet another thing - I have a long-running project of browsing items from the oldest ones, up the list, to the newest. I tried to resume this today but have a feeling that items are mixed sometimes and among the items which I have, I keep seeing BATs which I never noticed before in this chronological order which I clearly would not have missed due to their appeal. I'm not sure if I make sense, but I'm a little confused now. EDIT: Even worse - I have a "downloaded" sign next to items I don't have... EDIT 2: Sorry, cheked this - wrong conclusion about "downloaded" items missing on drive.
  20. 2 points
Just tried a couple things... It looks like the first image (the one selected to be displayed as the default) was not being recognized by the homepage as an acceptable size/shape or something. When I chose one of the other images as the default, it now appears. I believe we've come across a similar thing in other areas - maybe Features..?

HaS_Dependencies is a dependency file for most Ragutaro's BATs and some other creators' contents. And I added HaS_Advertisement.dat, which is a dependency for Mojikō Station The files were on Ragutaro's website, HIDE and Seek!. But unfortunately, the website is offline since 2026 February. Version 0 means no files are edited/changed, except I put them all together into one zip file. FYI, Ragutaro uploaded two files, HaS_Texture.dat and HaS_Props.dat, but later merged them into a single file, HaS_Dependencies. Lastly, sorry to @CaptCity, I changed the logo.

Recently, the NAM Team has started developing a DLL that complements and expands the functionality of the NAM in ways that would not otherwise be possible. The NAM.dll was primarily developed by Null 45 and me(mo), with support from the rest of the team. We are releasing it as an open beta in order to get testing feedback from a wider range of players. The current features are already quite stable, but, being a beta release, be prepared to uninstall these files once they get included in the main NAM download in the future. Download the DLL (currently version 1.0.3). The DLL is only compatible with the digital Windows version of the game, 1.1.641 (reasons). Features: draggable diagonal Streets Street tunnels (tunnel and slope mod included, using a portal model created by toja) keyboard shortcuts for RHW, One-Way Road, Monorail and Ground Highway (KEYCFG file included) disabling autoconnect for the Street and RHW tools Have fun.

Made by MayorOverpop. After a long silence, here is a wholehearted work released. Commentary In the world of Sim, thanks to the efforts of talented BATTER members such as Mr. SOMY and Mr. NOB, facilities and environments related to harvest-type fisheries, such as fishing ports, fishing villages, and seawalls, have been enhanced. However, even today in the Sim world, resource depletion, reduction of ocean area due to land reclamation, and rising seawater temperatures due to global warming are becoming serious problems, and urgent measures are needed. Therefore, in Sim, as a countermeasure to these problems, efforts have been made to develop resource-saving, production-oriented fisheries in order to move away from complete reliance on harvest-type fisheries. Additionally, to study these strategies, donations from Sim citizens and companies, as well as sponsorship contracts with companies, were used to construct a new research institute. The Aquaculture Research Institute (ACI) introduced here is a facility built through this process. ACI is a complex research facility consisting of a central research institute, an offshore research tower, and an aquaculture experimental facility. The offshore research tower is connected to the central research institute via an underwater passage, and the aquaculture experimental facility is linked to the offshore research tower by pipelines. ACI is planned to promptly carry out the full range of tasks, from examining research themes to experiments and feedback to industry. Moreover, ACI actively engages in public dissemination of information and benefits to citizens, such as making the process of experiments and aquaculture public, selling aquaculture products at low prices, and using underwater facilities for tourism. ACI has also succeeded in keeping maintenance costs low through corporate donations, revenue from aquaculture product sales, patent royalties, and other sources of income. Below is an overview of each facility. Center Laboratory (1 Lot) This is a research building with five floors above ground and eight floors underground. Primarily, research on genetic engineering is conducted here. This building also serves as the headquarters overseeing ACI and functions as a visitor center for those touring the facilities. Underground, an underwater passage connects to the Marine Research Tower, and visitors use this passage to reach the tower. On the road-facing plaza of the building, large staircases dedicated to visitors are installed, allowing many visitors to move efficiently. For visitors who have difficulty walking, such as those with disabilities or the elderly, elevators and walking-assist robots are provided. All facilities within ACI are designed to be barrier-free. Additionally, ACI has obtained ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications and implements comprehensive measures to improve the quality of research results and aquaculture products, as well as environmental initiatives and resource recycling. A popular feature for visitors at ACI is the direct sale of aquaculture products. In particular, squid noodles have become highly acclaimed for their smooth texture and the visually striking glow that continues until they are consumed. However, some staff members, becoming more enthusiastic about sales than research, occasionally disrupt the core operations. Tower laboratory (2 Lots) This is a frontline base for fisheries and aquaculture research installed offshore. It is a tower-shaped building with a diameter of 24 meters, housing research facilities, management facilities for the aquaculture site, and a restaurant for visitors. Additionally, this tower also serves as a boarding base for the tour submarine (see below). The offshore research institute is connected to the central research institute by an underwater passage. The underwater passage is a large pipe structure with an outer diameter of 10 meters and an inner diameter of 8 meters. Furthermore, the underwater passage also functions as an underwater observation facility for visitors, with large windows installed in the middle of the passage so that the underwater environment can be observed. In case of an emergency, there is a shelter at the top of the passage, where people who take refuge are rescued through a hatch after surfacing. The offshore research tower is installed in seas calm enough for waves, but in rough weather, all openings of the tower and the windows of the underwater passage are closed, and the structure is designed to withstand waves that exceed the height of the tower. The offshore research tower comes in two types: one with an underwater passage parallel to the north-south axis and another with a passage inclined at 45 degrees. Large Circle Fish-Farm (2 Lots) This is the main aquaculture facility of the Marine Aquaculture Research Institute. It is used for the cultivation of large fish species. Feeding, removal of waste, harvesting, and transportation of the harvested fish are basically automated. In addition, one underwater robot is permanently stationed for auxiliary tasks. To respond to tide fluctuations, the circular cage-like section moves up and down, and to handle waves, the flexible connection between the bottom of the aquaculture facility and the pipe unit (see below) is used. Small Square/Circle Fish-Farm (4 Lots) The functions are basically equivalent to those of large-scale ones. They are mainly used for the cultivation of seafood other than fish and for raising fry before transferring them to large-scale farms. Pipe Unit (2 Lots) It connects the fish farms and is used for transporting goods between the offshore research tower and the central research institute. It is also used for transporting deep seawater from the open ocean. Passenger Submarine - ATLANTIS (2 Lots) We introduced the large tourist submarine ATLANTIS for tours of the aquaculture facilities and for observing shallow-sea marine products and marine life. Among the ACI facilities, this project is the only one that earns income exceeding its maintenance costs. [ 海洋施設の設置方法 ]--- Setting of marine facilities Please create a shallow seabed terrain. Level the seabed horizontally at a depth of about 16 meters. As a guideline for the depth, build one offshore research tower and adjust the terrain until the lower beam of the underwater passage becomes visible, or raise the terrain until just before the beam is hidden (the underwater passage is a prop, so it will not be damaged). A slight angling of the terrain is acceptable, but flat terrain seems better for aquaculture sites. For the installation of the ocean research tower, please use the shape of the top of the tower as a guide. For other facilities, please use the arrows as a guide. All marine facilities are fixed at a set depth and installed at a predetermined depth. In SimCity, the transparency of seawater is determined by the depth to the seabed. In deep water, even a position 1 meter below the surface becomes opaque. Therefore, to make marine facilities visible, it is necessary to create shallow seabed terrain. You can optionally introduce surface ripples. PEGASUS's Crystal Lagoon can be used. Marine facilities are must to be plopped on a shallow seabed. A security checkpoint. Place it next to a road with the shelter over it. It works like a small police kiosk. --------------------- NO DEPENDENCIES Enjoy it!

FANTA1990 Presents: Something that resembles an actual Hang Glider instead of a paper airplane. This slightly larger replacement combines sharper colors with a bowed delta wing affixed to a clearly visible airframe. Upon closer inspection, you may notice the pilot doubles as the default game paratrooper. Additionally, the mod corrects a bug that cancels out the pilot's upper body immediately aft of the control bar. Since this is essentially an automata reskin, there are no dependencies and no configuration is required. It's a subtle enhancement that will add to the overall realism of any city. ** Includes a Bonus Hang Glider Generating Lot! *** This mod was originally posted along with many other spectacular creations by Fanta Soda on his SimCity China homepage with the following URL: http://www.SimCity.cn/thread-99303-1-1.html Fanta has taken great lengths to make his site accessible to English speaking users. However, I encourage you to exploit the automatic translation features available in browsers such as Chrome and Firefox, or one of many Add-ons for Internet Explorer. Mandatory registration will unlock Fanta's downloads and all other custom content on SimCity China. A login prompt and two verification screens may seem excessive, but are well worth it. Since Fanta spends considerable time manufacturing custom mods, he specifically requested my assistance publishing his work to the mainstream English speaking audience. All credit and responsibility for this download lies solely with Fanta Soda. He will personally read and perhaps respond to any praise, feedback, criticism, or suggestions to this post. More impressive works from Fanta will follow.

This is my first uploaded BAT and Lot. A Wireless Communications Tower, in a stand alone model. The model is just below the size of the Washington Monument and sits on a 2x2 lot. Can be used for Law Enforcement and Fire Personel, Cell Phones, and CB Radios. The lot has the Tower, and a maintence shed on site, surronded by a fence to keep the little sims from climbing the tower. There are four blinking red lights on the Tower. 3 halfway up, and one at the top of the tower. They don't show up in the picture, but trust me, they are there. Plop Cost: 2500 Monthly Cost: 0 (You rent out space to Cell Phone Companies) Bulldoze Cost: 1500 (It costs money for demo crews) Negative Park and Landmark effect (albiet small)-not really a YIMBY, eh? again, this is my first, so if i forgot to add something, let me know and i will fix it. thanks. brtim2, out. credits: where credit is due.

This is only my 3rd lot I've made. So rate nicely! No prison is complete without a couple of basketball courts and a guard watch for the yard. Let me know what you think.

A cinema with plenty of parking and 2 parking garages, and a pickup and dropoff zone in front of the main entrance. This lot does not overwrite the original cinema.
