  1. Capital Equities GMax model

You could use this as the basis for something like a UK City Academy uf you wanted. It wouldn't really need night lighting because schools aren't normally open at night! But great looking model though!

New Page 3 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: Robert Prior Longburton City Council 01622 570580 r.prior@longburton.gov.uk http://www.longburton.gov.uk Longburton City Council announces further Pedestrian Zone and Longburton Business Improvement Group. City Hall, Longburton, Bretshire. First pilot Pedestrian Zone is judged a success, and more are planned for the City of Longburton. The City Council is announcing today plans to roll out more pedestrianised areas in Longburton's Commercial districts so as to encourage greater foot traffic in business areas. It is also pleased to announce that with this pedestrian initiative, the City Council will be setting up the Longburton City Business Improvement Group, which will help businesses work together in creating a safe commercial area for shoppers and to improve business prospects for all store owners in the programme. The pedestrianisation will also help reduce traffic and noise pollution that local residents have informed the city council of. The Council has received these notices from communities and have set about looking into programmes that will solve the long and short term issues that have been raised. The Council feels that the programme undertaken will be of benefit not only to the community, but will also benefit the economy of the local areas that are affected. Increased foot traffic in the area will mean more shoppers and greater wealth being spent in these areas and this money will filter through to local communities in the form of better services. The pilot program on Malmon St has been deemed to be a success. The total cost of

Replies owenluby: I honestly have no idea. I just downloaded NAM and deleted the files I didn't want. I kept the dat file for the left hand driving for the game and the rest is history. I don't think I did anything else after that. GingerBlokey: Yes it does have a ring road of sorts, but it isn't a motorway ringroad. It is instead something like the Circular Road in London. It has an avenue that works as a ring road, but it wasn't originally designed as such and is only something that occurred by coincidence, and coincidentally, it is called the Circular Road! cityhawk: Yes, I can only wish that in the next Simcity, they introduce something of a political element to the game and have advisors who can actually do things without you actually having to do everything for them by hand at their prompting. If I could have one improvement, it would be to give these advisors a facelift, call them councillors and be able to select from a drop down list as to who should be what ie, who should be the police authority councillor and with each differing choice, you get a different style of action from them. Through that, you get some life and automation from the game and you could hire and fire new councillors or replace them. Would bring an added dimension to the game. Would be very interesting. hamsterTK: I'm in the process of installing it and shall soon have some more screenshots for it. And now, without further ado, here is another small update. As you should see, I've created new outlying villages, the main one, being Tetford right there on the right of the main city boundaries. And it's surrounded by agricultural land. First time I've ever actually used agriculture in a city for SC4! Next, you ought to see one of Longburton City Council's plans to help relieve some areas of traffic by pedestrianising the area. This is one of the solutions that the Council has, so far, come up with to reduce noise pollution and traffic. It can most certainly be said, it won't be it's last! That's all folks! Thanks for all your comments!

topcliff: Yes, indeed there is a covered road bridge in the city centre area, but I wanted to simulate the fact that every city has something that people call hideously ugly, but at the time of construction, it wasn't thought to be ugly, but an architectural wonder. I decided to do it with a bridge cityhawk: Thanks for your comments. The crazy winding road system is not uncommon here in the UK where in most cities there has been no real planning behind the structure of streets and although SC4 doesn't allow for different angled roads, I did my best to try to simulate that Sometimes it leads to bottlenecks and choke points but sometimes, it allows for a whole host/variety of different routes to take to get someplace. The City Council, will for the time being, not do much about the road system, for simple fact that it's cash strapped at the minute. They also don't want to go down the route of Oxford and make Longburton into a one way street maze, otherwise known as hell on Earth for drivers wallasey: Thanks for your comments as well. There was talk of an inner relief road in council meeting, as meeting minutes will show, however, these were ruled out as being prohibitively expensive and horrendously complex as the council would have to apply for compulsory purchase orders, the legal barriers, judicial challenges. They are still deciding what is the best option. People's suggestions would be most welcome! You could simulate the public if you wanted! Your Highway texture will be used as well, and I thank you for showing me it! This small update that follows will give some news behind it. toxicpiano: Well, erm..... let's call it a Cricket stadium shall we? Nah, the reason why I placed it there was so as to raise the Residential caps etc or whatever caps that are affected by it. If someone else could mod a true cricket stadium, I'd gladly put that in. But thank you all for your comments, they are really encouraging. Here is a small news update but alas, I have no screenshots yet, but rest assured, sometime tomorrow, I will do my best to bring a few more. Thank you all for your comments. I enclose, the next update, carrying on with the traffic theme that I began with the previous screenshot. Apologies for the relative lack of screenshots. Each screenshot takes a while to make and my computer has been the best of friends today.... running so very slow. So far, 1,500 local residents have signed the petition to force Longburton City Council to act in lowering congestion. The City Council, in statement, said that it was currently holding exploratory meetings with the Highways Agency about possible solutions, however, these are still ongoing.

New Page 1 Please note that that motorway is highlighted as best I could in blue. The M17 is the motorway running through the eastern side of Longburton and serves the lower centre of the city. Construction began in 1963 and was completed in 1966 where Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II opened the motorway in a ceremony attended by Longburton City Council officials and by Bretshire County Council officials. It is one of the newest motorways built and caused significant controversy in the planning stages. Local residents did not warm to the idea however accepted it in the end due to the worsening traffic situation the city was facing. The M17 now provides a link between Longburton and the North and Scotland. It has helped bring in more tourism and attract more businesses in the area, thus improving employment prospects. The construction of the motorway cost a total of

I'm still in the midst of building the city, but I will get some screenshots up soon.
  8. This is my first city journal and it is a fictional city of Longburton. The county is also fictional, but this will be modelled so far as is possible as a UK city and now for a little bit of history. (All information displayed here is fictional and are for the purposes of some background reading for this city journal. None of the following events ever occurred in real life.) Please note, to build the city in the first instance I used the Max Money cheat so that the basic construction could go on without having to worry about money. Will try to devise some kind of system to go on without it if the mod can't be uninstalled afterwards but I'll have to try and figure out how to switch it off Longburton applied for city Status in 1973 after a collection of District Councils within Bretshire decided that it would be in the best interests of the area if it held the status of "City". The title is highly sought after in the UK and in recent times, more than 40 applied in the new millennium in celebration for the Queen's Jubilee. Only eight succeeded. Longburton was one of the applicants that had submitted proposals to the Lord Chancellor and out of a total of 31 applicants; Longburton was one of only 4 to have been awarded the title. In late 1975, the Queen signed Royal Patents and Charters incorporating Longburton as a city for time immemorial. Longburton from then on existed as a single metropolitan city incorporating the districts that had joined together to form the Longburton City Council. At its head, it now has a single Lord Mayor (Styled "The Right Worshipful Mayor of Longburton), granted to Longburton as a result of its incorporation, who at current is Jonathon Hatchett. Longburton City Council is governed locally by 36 Councillors and divided up into 8 wards. The City council is held by Labour with a majority. Labour hold 21 seats, the Conservatives 8, the Liberal Democrats holding 6 and with one independent. The current leader of the Council is Councillor Robert Prior. Labour has held the city council since 1979 after 4 years of being a coalition partner with the Liberal Party. Longburton is a separate political entity to that of Bretshire County Council and as a result collects it's own rates and administers it's own programs separate to that of Bretshire County Council. Crime is of a particular problem for the city with Bretshire Constabulary placing their new Headquarters in Longburton, there continues to be a problem with regard to lower level crime in Longburton. Financial difficulties have led to Bretshire Constabulary to place a freeze on the recruitment of new officers across the county. There are currently 683 Sworn Constables for the city with the city divided into 8 Policing sectors with their boundaries matching those for local wards. Health coverage in Longburton is provided by the National Health Service, providing universal health coverage for the entire population. It's major hospital, a centre for not only the city, but also for the County, is Bretshire County General Hospital, a new Private Finance Initiative hospital constructed in the year 2001 as a result of the government's major hospital construction programme. Bretshire County General is part of the Bretshire North NHS Trust. There are a number of General Practices in the boundaries of Longburton, which are a part of the Longburton Primary Care Trust, which provides a wide range of Community health services and work in partnership with Bretshire North NHS Trust. Education is administrated by the City through the Longburton Local Education Authority, encompassing the government's Surestart centres, nurseries, primary and secondary schools. However, Longburton's schools have been criticised as being under funded and poorly managed. A number of Longburton's secondary schools are in Special Measures (For all you non-Brits, it means the schools that are failing to provide even an acceptable level of education, thus the Government steps in and appoints a special team to take over the administration of the school and putting into place policies to improve the quality of education) Longburton City College is a Further Education institution, provides many vocational courses and trades qualifications. Longburton City College has seen considerable investment from the City Council since 1997 as a result of the government in Westminster making Education a priority and increasing funding. The size of the City College has increased considerably and is continuing to expand. The city college used to have approximately only 9,000 students enrolled in 1997. This figure has now increased to 17,000 in 2005. The city is also home to the relatively new University of Longburton, originally built in 1987, it has since expanded. It currently has 19,000 enrolled students and is recognised as a specialist university in the field of science and engineering although it continues to provide courses in Law, Media, Engineering, mathematics and many more. University buildings are dotted across the city. Commerce in Longburton is flourishing which has been as a result of good economic conditions and confidence from businesses in the future. However, with recent figures suggesting an economic slowdown and retail sales on the High Street slowing down and in some areas falling, many are left to wonder whether the current status quo will last. Longburton's economy is a mainly Services led industry, however it has a large manufacturing sector led predominantly by High Technology industries although elements of the old manufacturing industry remain in some areas of the city although these are now a dying breed. Not saying that this isn't good, it looks great, I must bring issue with the cost. For such a HUGE hospital, it's monthly cost being only
  11. Help with Tropods tileset mod

I've downloaded this mod, but when I start playing, no buildings will build at all. Now it can't be because I have no low wealth bats beacause I have the UK terraced pack etc. Why does using this mod stop any building from being built?
  12. NHS Super Moder Hospital

I know no hospital looks like that...... I'm a dreamer and yes I have been to the UK after all..... being British myself, I tend to stay in the UK more often than not..... But yes, it doesn't look like a real NHS Hospital, but being a Labourite, This would be one of my visions for the NHS:-P
  13. Small Town Station

Another version. It was edited to make it more of a Small Volume station that will have to patrol over large distances in small towns. But there are more props and there are actually people walking randomly across the station.

    Yes, it's a Police Station alright! :-D
