4 pointsUpdate 51: The Return Hello Everyone! Now that I have your attention: (~reminder: Please Click For Full Resolution) Teasers? We Don't Need No Stinking Teasers!!! The Ring of Fire makes its fall return. Up next week: we take a closer look at the container terminal at Hood's Hook (above). But in all seriousness; i noticed that there's been something like 5k views since the last entry i posted almost 5 months ago. I'm rather humbled that my CJ has gotten so much traffic in absentia. I can remember the days when an average update got only 2-4 comments. So I hope I can live up to your expectations and make the wait worth it. We Shall See. Until next time, happy gaming. Stay dry out there.

4 pointsOh what's that? You want more? ... I guess I can provide. Hopefully this makes up for the two month hiatus. A zoomed out view.

4 pointsReplies Schulmantor Thanks sucram17 Indeed, must be like 45 degrees out Mama Luigi It says a lot Thanks. JGellock Thanks a lot Evillions Might be the terrain mod Thanks! Efkin Thanks Wustmann Thank you This update has been sitting on my laptop for over a year now. Should probably update it. Touraan City or Turaan is the political and financial heart of the Arab state of Gurivia. It's population in the low millions constitute of poor residents to the mega-wealthy who often live in large upscale highrises, amongst a city where poverty is still relatively evident. The country's wealth gained from offshore and inland oil reserves have cause the economy to explode with unprecedented development. While, oil is not a sustainable source of income, international investment and other industries that the nation is now developing has made Gurivia into the new gleeming and prosperous state it is now. Unfortunately, under the shadows of development, corruption within state government is still causing relative upheaval in it's new found 'democracy' and signs of criticism from the nation's citizens are becoming more and more evident across the country and in the capital itself. Public gatherings and loud protests are beginning to arise once more in a nation that has already been fraught with a treacherous conflict.

4 pointsHazani Pratama: Thank you SimCoug: That was exactly how seawalls were supposed to work in game. I'll get back to them soon, finish the model, than I'll ask Bipin how to implement them in game, since the plan was for them to work much like his walls walls for highways. But everyone is welcome to suggest how this should be done. Sgt Pepper: Hopefully you've installed it by now Darknono: Thank you and yes we need more Art Deco in game. Good suggestion about pillars, I'll consider that. edwardjeria: Thank you AlexandorsB13: Thank you Now quick update about previous projects: I had to make a break due to RL in May, than as you might have seen in my non NYBT thread, I started a little project just to get back into the game so I can finish previous stuff. Than, you guessed it, RL came crushing down on me again, and now after all that time I have tens of BATs to finish. I promise I'll try to finish everything by the end of the year, or at least most of it. I have started a new BAT in order to practice a bit and get back into it all. But mostly so that NYBT gets some back-up from me as well. Darknono and Aaron seemed a bit lonely here So without further ado, I present to you Maritime Exchange building also known as 80 Broad street (which is its address, DUH!) I expect to be done with modelling ASAP and texture and export it very very soon I still need to add some details, back side and fix a few things, but I hope you like it so far. Funny thing, this 117 meters tall building is virtually unnoticeable in the pictures of Lower Manhattan. Gotta love New York!

3 pointsA glimpse on how my CJ will look like: This is just a teaser, so stay tuned for Update 1!

3 pointsOne of Schulmania's biggest updates is coming October 5th... Schulmania's 7th anniversary spectacular! Brace yourselves!

2 pointsReplies urielgarcia-Thank you. Benedict-Thank you. Aaron Graham-Thanks. This city should be fun to develop. UndercoverNinja12-Thanks. I would have to say that this stuff is some of my favorite content for much the same reasons. To All-Thank you for voting in the poll. The Santa Bella map will be available on the STEX later this week. Also, thanks for making this one of the top journals this past week. Kings Ridge I developed Kings Ridge with basic idea that this was the northwest end of Bella Vista and thus where the highway would enter the city. As you can see from the last two region shots it took a couple of tries to get right. The challenging thing with this type of area is the interaction of the highway as it enters the city. I wanted something that made sense, but was compact and natural. This lead to one of the weirdest interchange ideas I have had. The interchange I came up with is essentially a loop running through an industrial park. It required a bypass approach to the highway, but I this also split the industrial park nicely from the residential part of the city. Here we have the John C. Bryson Highway (desginated as I-23) entering the city. This highway serves as the main route between Bella Vista and Santa Bella. Traffic on this highway is largely dependent on the time of day as during rush hours it can be quite thick, while during low hours such as seen here traffic can be next to nonexistent. I-23 has several exits in Bella Vista. The first is the Industrial Street Exit. This exit is part of more complex system of exits and entrances around the Ridgewood Research Park. Not surprisingly this exit is only lightly used as very few commuters find it useful. The Ridgewood Research Park is home to several labs and high-tech companies. While it is relatively small, it is well-known for being the old stomping grounds of famous inventor John Bryson. When Bryson worked in the area, Ridgewood Research Park was owned by Bryson Industries. However, after his death the company folded and the labs were sold to third parties. These days the park is more or less a loose collection of labs for major companies. The proximity of the highway has made the northern end of Mountainwood Road a minor shopping district. The so-called Ridgewood Center is really nothing more than a couple of shops on the edge of town. Of course, this hasn't stopped them from trying to promote themselves as being part of something far greater. The busiest place in the district may be the Mountainwood Baseball Complex. These fields host little league games for most of western Bella Vista. On any given night there are between 4 to 12 games on these fields (1 to 3 per field), hundreds of amped up ten to twelve year olds, and as many as 5000 proud parents. Parking has become an issue, however, and the Bella Vista city council is looking at options to alleviate the issue. Residents of Kings Ridge have relatively few worries. Unlike the areas to the south, the most dangerous thing that the average parent here has to worry about are pranks like TPing a neighbors tree. This is partially the result of the fact that Kings Ridge has one of the regions strongest neighborhood watch programs. The local sports programs also help reduce the crime problem among teens. Ridgewood School serves this area well. The school itself is one of a very few K-12 schools left in the region. Academically it is a middle of the road school, but it remains desirable because the student violence/drug use incident rate is well below the national average. Ridgewood was recently rated as the safest school in Bella Vista, and it is almost always in the running. This is somewhat ironic as the school itself is housed in an remodeled early 1960s factory which was notorious for the number of accidents that occurred onsite. Of course the real draw of the district is the beautiful scenery. The famous Kings Ridge lends its name to the district and is just one of the natural wonders in the Stone Ridge State Park. Here we are looking east from atop Stone Ridge. Helicopter tours frequently flyover the park. Riders can capture shots like this one of the Whitehill Cliffs. These cliffs were extremely popular with climbers until the forestry service had to ask them to stop after falling rocks killed three climbers. Investigation revealed that the climbing gear that was used on the cliff was severely damaging the rock and had caused some to come loose. These days the cliffs are left alone. The Valleman Basin is locate across Stone Ridge Mountain from Bella Vista. This area is some of densest forest in the region. It also houses the visitors center for the park, the helicopter tour center, and a campground. That's all for this week. Feel free to comment or +1 this entry! Thank you!

2 points^ Brace yourself, Vlad's comments are coming... On a side note: That building next to 40 Wall Street (Schwab Building?)... how big is it in SimCity tiles? I'm asking because I think it's a lovely piece of architecture in its own right and might be a good candidate for 'recycling'...
-
2 pointsWhat's that shadowy place over there? That's Sim City Societies, you must never go there.
-
2 pointsThanks guys, I appreciate your comments as always . Today a big update for the NYBT @Sten1700: Thanks .The American International should be online during october ( I thought upload the building for christmas, but several person can't supported this wait and risk a heart attack ), when it will be definitely completed, so, very soon . Actually, I fix the nightlight color. @Andrey Km: Thanks . The Woolworth Building is planified after the 40th Wall Street and the AIG Tower. It's a big project too, and I don't know when the building will be delivered on the STEX. This update is for the 40th Wall Street. The color have been improved, again, and I think it's an better approach of the reality. The schwab building was re-modeled too, and I think completed . Now I'm working on the small building at the west of the main building ( I don't know his name ). It's not yet on this picture but it's already begun . And another picture of the American International, with the news textures Enjoyed and say me what did you think

2 pointsThank You everyone!!! The bump map has really helped it I think. I keep looking at it wondering whether I should make the UVW Map smaller now that it has the bump map, the bricks just seem to big to me, what do you guys think?
-
2 pointsThanks guys that's all really helpful. Car colours - totally agree. I actually still need to work on the cars. There's only one model (A Volvo SUV). I didn't love making the car so I stopped at one, but need to go back and make some more. I'll spend a bit more time on the cars, and get their colours looking better Grass, quite right, these are mainly placeholders for the foliage, once the plants go in, either the grass won't be visible, or will be replaced with something else. Pool water... hmmm.... you're quite right. I think after a long day looking at it I was really happy with that outcome, looking at it fresh this morning and seeing your comments I totally agree, it looks flat and cartoonish. The only good pool water I was able to see online was Vray, and I haven't been able to see anything nearly as good with Mental ray - Girafe, that pool water looks perfect. I'll keep playing with the pool water today and see what I come up with. Thanks again! Edit: After seeing Girafe's Umbrella and Sunlounges, I'm going to remake mine.. mine don't look good at all by comparison
-
2 pointsThanks guys Well, I've spent literally all day trying to get the right looking results for my pools. I've tried every tutorial with caustics and refraction and noise and smoke and ocean lume... nothing looked like I wanted. In the end I made the materials up and ended with something so simple but I think really effective. There are two types of pools in the complex, a reflecting pool at the base of the building, and the two swimming pools, and both have quite different effects. Reflecting Pool The reflecting pool is a very thin layer of water, the distance between the pool base and the water surface is not very deep. The pool base is lined with the same dark concrete we have on the surrounds, The water itself is simply a procedural Arch & Design Glass (Thin Geometry) template. I bumped up the IOR slightly, to 2, Added a ripple texture I found online to the Bump map, set to 0.1. That's all it is. Here is the ripple and texture I used to complete this step: Edit: Section on swimming pools removed and will be replaced with a new section below.

1 pointUpdate 50: Mosaic Mania Hello again, everyone! Welcome back for update 50. Last week we reclimbed Mt. Fuji. Since my main page submission seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle and the view count was rather low, you might want to go back and look at last week's update before this one if you missed it, since this week is the mosaics to last week. So this week, mosaics to last week. This is one of my most ambitious mosaic attempts: it stretches across parts of 4 tiles. (~reminder: Please Click For Full Resolution) 01. Going up Mt. Fuji. 02. And coming back down. Since this is update 50 (*cough* and i didn't have anything special planned *cough*) I figured I'd keep with the mosaic theme and showcase some mosaics of the pasts. 03. Pine Hill harbor and seaplane port from Crater Lake. 04. From the waaaayback machine we dig into Rip City, Powell cinder cone and hot springs. 05. The Zanarkand - East Crossing Industrial Area. 06. From the far north, the Tundraport Oil Terminals. 07. The slopes of Mt. Rainier. 08. And finally, lovely Cannon Beach. And that's update 50. I don't have any plans for the future, so we're still on a sporadic update schedule and i don't know when the next will be, so i'll respond in the comments below in a week or so. Until next time happy gaming and enjoy the spring sun! @Schulmanator: Thank you sir! Always good to see you around here, too. @Forthwall: Thanks! Aye, that little japanese bus stop in the middle adds so much for such a small lot. @grstudios: Thanks.....then get back to it! @vivapanda: Nature, nature everywhere. @PhatHead: Thanks, hope you get a chance to look around. @terring, ggamus, gugu3: Thanks for all your comments guys .

1 pointWow, cool! These small beaches are always very appealing!
-
1 pointThere is a missing pathway, it appears Reddon has replaced it with a widened garden bed, but it appears that the pool furthest from the building, while part of the complex, is separately managed. The closest one appears to be part of the Q1 Spa, but there is a wall cordoning off the other pool which has its own entrance in the rust-coated wall. It's possible that originally both pools were connected. EDIT: Oops, forgot to say just how awesome it looks regardless.

1 point@IL. Installing BAT4Max 5 Special note on UAC (User Account Control) in Windows 7 and Windows Vista. UAC in Windows7 blocks any write operations into “Program Files” folder. As a result neither setting not operation of BAT4Max is possible while UAC is turned on. So if you are running these versions of Windows please disable UAC prior to the installation of BAT4Max v5. After installation had been finished you would have 2 options – either keep UAC turned off, or turn UAC back on but allow to yourself (your user name) full control of \BAT folder Alternatively you may install 3ds Max outside of “Program Files” folder.

1 pointHmm... In the game you can sign a contract with a magnamonious corporation that abuses its customers. Why does this sound familiar? Oh, so EA put themselves in their own game? Great, makes me want SC2013 even less now.
-
1 pointIf you're buying an Xbox One, then obviously games with online modes and DLC are very important to you (who buys an Xbox to play offline?) You can get the standard version for $40 or less due to sales and/or EA cash card sales (they can be used on Origin as well) If you want all the international content then Deluxe is the best way to go. Or you can wait until November 12 or later to buy the leaked Simcity Plus (contains the expansion pack). I mean it wouldn't be a real Simcity game if we didn't get our expansion packs (both Simcity 1 and Simcity 2000 had 3 expansion packs). If you really need another copy of Simcity 4, the Steam sale takes place in late November/Early December and the game will be priced under $5. Since you've waited this long, you'd might as well wait for the next Origin sale (they happen ever month or two).

1 pointI took away a different moral: Being a great criminal will lead you into a lucrative, prestigious public position as a lawkeeper. The pics, as SimCoug said, were great, and the story was fun to read. Funny, too. Heh. "I am made of bacon..." Oh, those pigs.

1 pointI love it and will buy it all, including the recipe! I love it so much that instead of eating it, I'll enshrine it on a glass shelf! Then I'll put the shelf on a nuclear-powered remotely-operated vehicle! Then I'll send the ROV to the bottom of the Marianas Trench! Then I'll detonate the ROV's reactor so that the Oil of Onimayo and its recipe is destroyed forever! ...in other words, I completely hate it.

1 pointSorry for bumping and double posting, but some of you might remember the Port of Astoria from a while back: It has just been expanded with a new set of docks and more facilities to handle cargo faster and more efficiently:
