Yes I have had this as well and is very annoying. You are just going to have to remember the bug is there for now to avoid double posting but even then it still causes complications. Hopefully in the long run dirk can fix it.

Something very weird happened yesterday. Look at this picture....

motmforumstrangepost7tf.jpg

It says there a topic was in the MOTM forum that was actually in the Sim City 4 General Discussion forum (it was linked in that picture) and it claimed I posted there while I had actually posted in another thread in that forum. Strange.

I am having problems downloading modds from the modds and downloads section. I click "Download" but nothing happens, pop-ups are allowed. I have tried in both IE and Firefox and it works in neither of them. I am having no problems downloading things from the STEX.

Am I the only one not getting links in my subscription pms? I'm pretty tired of opening a new browser window and pasting the link into the address bar. So tired in fact that I've stopped doing it, and have consequently stopped receiving subscriptions at all, which is the other bug I reported - if, for whatever reason, I delete the pm without viewing the updated thread, I stop receiving the subcription until I view the thread again.

I appreciate the software's concern not to "bother" me, but sometimes I'm in the mood and sometimes I'm not and I want to know when the thread's updated and decide for myself when to read it.

Exactly, although it happens to me when a number is involved in my quick reply. But anyways, yes, I'm having the same problem which pops up a little box that says 'There are no polls available'.

I'm currently looking into this problem.

This behavior will not change.  It's not so much as " trying not to bother" you as it is easing the load off the server.  In our previous forums, the system constantly sent notifications to subscribers even years after they've stopped coming to Simtropolis, or have had their emails expire or their inboxes full.  The result is that the server receives a glut of rejected emails and bounce-backs (ie. in my inbox) and it becomes a real bandwidth/email nightmare.

If you don't want to visit the thread, then you won't receive any more notifications.  It's a simple system, and is consistant with standard forum-software behavior...

Fair enough... Then, would it be possible to put in a "sort by last updated" filter in the my forums section, so we could more easily browse our subscribed threads?

Thanks, Dirk.

Yep.  Same here.

Also, about the "missing post" bug.  I found a way around it.  The post isn't actually missing, but rather, there seems to be the issue with the "Last Page" link going well past the actual last page of the topic.  However, if you click the "Previous" button once or twice after clicking "Last Page", you'll find it.  A bit inconvenient, but it works.

At any rate, PM notifications of subscriptions now have working links.quote>

Thanks for fixing the subscription links...

At least for me, the my forums section doesn't sort at all. There is a last updated column, so you can see when the thread was last updated, but you can't sort them with the most recent updates at the top, for example.

Am I being too lazy/picky? 41.gif

Laugh?  Hardly.  I've been toying around with the idea of switching back to Win95 or ME (I'm running XP SP2 now).  Call me crazy.  (sorry for the off-topic tangent).

I assume Dirk is working in the STEX, which is why the errors are occurring when we try to access it.

I found a rather interesting quirk with the buttons, text boxes, and the drop-down arrows for the comboboxes. Depending on the themes I have running on my computer for Window's Desktop, they change colors/appearance to match my current desktop theme. Does anyone else notice this? Or is it because I am using FireFox?

Isn't that perfectly normal? I guess the look of those standard elements like circular or round checkboxes, buttons etc. are determined by your browser anyway. The aforementioned elements conform perfectly to the Opera skin / theme I have installed right now. If I switch to another skin, the look of those elements changes correspondingly.

Still wish the reply window was compatible with standards Opera can interpret, though... *nag* I'd like to be able to use some text formatting like bold or cursive, not to mention smileys or lists.

I just recently contracted this problem. Kinda annoying, but at least there's more than one reply box. 2.gif

Yes, mine is getting increasingly worse now. I've completely stopped using Quick Reply and am starting to use the pop-up window because everytime that pop-up window pops up, I loose all the text in that quick reply and it makes me very angry.

yo, dirk will you ever repair the CJ section, or will it be the way it is till our last days ??

In other words, will you repair The Jersey Devil's CJ - Edmonton?

If you're referring to the new CJ section then yes that as far as I know is still happening but what dirk is trying to do is pretty advanced so we may be waiting a while. 1.gif
