@GreekMan: For # 3, Derek Anderson was a top 5 fantasy football quarterback this season, but their defense is putrid, from what I gather. So, that means the Browns can score, but they can't stop giving up points either. Derek Anderson's first game this season pretty much sums up the Browns, from what I gather (or whichever game they won that was something like 51-44 for the Browns).

We already beat the Titans and the Colts, but I would be more nervous about a game with the Colts, they are a better team overall.

Tennessee is ahead right now...wow...week 17 you never know what you're going to get. As it stands, I'm 8-8 on the week, although I thought it was much worse than that.

Browns sure are good. Like has been said, their defense is pretty bad, but can step up when they need it. Plus they have Braylon Edwards and Jamal Lewis. And seriously, the Texans surprised a lot of people this year. Mario Williams is looking like a 1000% better 1st pick over Reggie Bush.

And congrats to the Redskins. They beat down on the Vikings, and if the Vikes got in and the Skins didn't there is something seriously wrong with the world. And not only that, but they had to beat the Cowboys to do it...and they did handidly. Jessica Simpson must have been in the stands again...

Thank you!   As the news guy pointed out, four weeks ago, they were losing to Buffalo on stupid calls and burying Sean Taylor and everyone thought they were done.  Four games later, they are in the playoffs.

I always take my nephews to the last home game of the season.  (The older one is away at uni for the other ones.)  We were very happy to see that would mean Dallas this year.  The weather was actually better than I was expecting since the heaviest part of the rain was before kickoff.   Even with the lousy weather, this game had the all-time high for attendance at FedEx Field.

I do wish they would show us the replays for the challenges though.  Those of us in the stadium got to see commercials instead. (--insert obnoxious comment about Dan Snyder here --) (--remove obnoxious comment because Snyder actually did an excellent job handling the whole Sean Taylor situation--)  We still don't know what the heck happened right before half time.

The officials (and that was the strangest officiating I've ever seen) announced "Penalty is declined; that is the end of the 2nd quarter."  and 10 minutes later most players are still milling around on the field and they brought guys out of the locker room to run one more play.  From where we sat, they were doing their darnest to give Dallas every chance, even to the point of challenging their own calls if they went against Dallas.

LOL -- we were having fun with that.   One local TV station posted a picture of Jessica Simpson so we could print it off and hold in front of our faces.   There was a guy there who was dressed as Jessica Simpson, in a pink number 9 jersey, and long blonde wig.  I wish I had a picture but I have to admit that I didn't crawl out from under my poncho to get one.

What happened, at least on that kick, was that Washington was given a penalty for being offsides, and when the referee announced that the penalty was declined, Wade Phillips wanted to know who had declined it.  Apparently, someone who didn't have the authority to decline it made the call, and Phillips told the ref that the official stance of the Cowboys was that it wasn't going to be declined.  Because it was on a kick, Dallas, as the receiving team, had the option to choose whether they wanted Washington to kick it again, or just add five yards on to the return.  Also, although I'm not sure of what rule it is that allows this, there's apparently a rule that, by which, allowed Dallas one untimed down to use.

Just in case anyone was wondering what the rules were that were enforced on that Washington kick right before the end of the first half, I found them in a list of new NFL rules for the 2006-2007 season. Maybe no one had heard of them because they're only a couple of years old.

. If there is a foul during a scrimmage kick or a free kick prior to a player of the receiving team securing possession of the ball, the offended team will have the option of taking the penalty at the previous spot and replaying the down or adding the penalty yardage on to the end of the play. Previously, the offended team could either take the penalty and replay the down or decline the penalty and take the result of the play.

Reason for the change: Eliminates re-kicks.

. If an offensive foul is a foul by the kicking team prior to a player of the receiving team securing possession of the ball during a down in which there is a safety kick, scrimmage kick, or free kick, the period may be extended by an untimed down, if the defense accepts the penalty. This provides the option for a receiving team to extend a period if a kicking team commits a foul prior to a change of possession. Reason for change: Eliminates fouling to obtain an unfair advantage. quote>

That's how I would pick them too. Tampa is cooling down and look very beatable by the Giants, although it could be very close. Jags are peaking at the right time and should beat the crap out of the Steelers, who are minus Willie Parker. Washington and Seattle could be close because Washington has definite momentum going into the playoffs and Seattle had an incredibly weak division. And Chargers will win...fairly easily.

Week 17 of the NFL you never know what's going to happen because you never know who's going to rest their starters. I'm going on a limb and saying the Pats, Colts, Packers, and Cowboys are going to rest all of their players next week. They really have nothing to play for...

My picks for round one of the playoffs:

Washington at Seattle

I gotta go with the 'Skins on this one for the simple fact that this team is dangerous, their defense, when it's on it's game, just keeps getting in your face all day.  I don't think Hassleback is going to be able to handle getting pushed around all day.  Then there's momentum and the 'Skins have it while the 'Hawks stumble into the playoffs.  A 3rd 'Skins vs. Dallas would be mighty interesting.

Jacksonville at Pittsburgh

The Jags hands down.  The Steelers defense don't look so tough and their offense is clicking like it should after dropping their last 2 games.  The Jags have already given them a good whoopin' a few weeks ago and they have the momentum coming into the playoffs.

N.Y. Giants at Tampa Bay

Gotta go with the Bucs on this one.  Both teams admittedly have had inconsisstant seasons, but the Bucs have Gruden as their coach and he's one who always has something tucked up his sleeve.  Unless that vaulted Giants defense comes to play and Eli keeps his head in the game, the Bucs will win this game and if the 'Skins win, then will have to go up to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field and face the 'Cinderella' Packers.

Tennessee at San Diego

I think Tennessee's chance of winning in SD is as good as it snowing in SD on Sunday.  It seems SD has found it's groove and I feel defensively, SD is just to strong for the Titans to do much against.

Seattle hasnt exactly been playing well of late. Add in that the red skins are on fir and playing with passion, I like the Skins for this one. Washingtons defense will be able to match up well against Seatles offense and keep Matt Hasselback out of his game.

Jacksonville over Pittsburg

Pittsburg lost its main rusher, and Jacksonville has already shown it can beat them.

New York Giants over Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay is a decent team but I doubt they can handle the giants. When you factor in their vicous pass rush, superb pass defense from Aaron Ross and others, I just dont see Tampa Bay being able to generate much offensive success. Tampa Bays defense also will match up poorly against the Giants. Brandon Jacobs can be used as a bruiser to wear down the defense while the cover two scheme will be disected by Manning. Manning, by the way, has looked really good recently.

San Diego Over Tennessee

Lets see how banged up Vince Young is but I dont see the Titans pulling an upset against a team that has gotten its act together over the last half of the season.

My playoff picks

Jacksonville Jaguars (11-5) vs Pittsburgh Steelers (10-6)

The Jags are the better team than the Steelers this time around. They are a phisical team that can match up against the Pats. The Jags win this game and are going to New England

Washington Redskins (9-7) vs Seetle Seahawks (10-6)

Seattle will win this game! The Seawawks have a good offense while the Skins have a great defence. But the Hawks have the advantage because they are playing at home. I know it would be nice for the Skins to win but this is the NFL. Who know what will happen....

PS: After Taylor's death the Skins are pumped for the win. The Skins are win this game...

Tennessee Titans (10-6) vs San Diego Chargers (11-5)

Ohh remach time! What is going to happen? SD will come with a win to beat the Titans! Reasons 1) SD has home field advantage, 2) Titans lack speed  3) The Chargers have better players than the Ttans. SD win and goes to Indy!

New York Giants (10-6) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-7)

I am going with NY on this one. I think they are a better team than the Bucs. Ny played a great game against the Pats, even if they lost. Eli had a great game that night so I think his team can win this game. Nuff said!

Titans lack speed? please, tell us how?

vince young in the playoffs is far better than phillip rivers. The chargers, as they did last year, will probably come out too*****y, forget that they are playing an elimination game, and blow it in the final quarter. Although, they probably will win this year, considering its the titans I think 2 LT td's and one wildcard (Gates? cromartie return?) is enough to put down the titans.

Its a tough game to pick, i mean, Vince Young sucks, but, i'd rather have him than rivers in this kind of game. as for 3), Chargers talent wise have better players but still, they are a horrible playoff team. I doubt they even have a chance make it past the colts (they could dub it as "Chokers v. Usually Chokers), and im 60/40 their side on wether they will beat the titans. Regular season, I'd go san diego, but, playoffs, im not so sure.

By outside speed, he means WR and CB. It would make no sense to say the aren't fast running when they are on the outside, because if they aren't fast on the outside, they aren't fast on the inside.

Titans have some pretty quick players, Vince Young, bullock, etc. Mike Cloud still play for them?
